Title: Rebel Indemnities
Author: Proculus Hirtius
Sponsor: Proculus Hirtius, Galerius Antonius

Introduction:
In retaking Italia our wise leaders strayed from causing more damage than need be to the countryside of our heartland. And indeed there are a great many reasons why this was a step in the right direction. However, it is apparent to all that certain regions and indeed cities of Italia did aid the rebels in their efforts against us and without that aid the war could very well have ended with less bloodshed and much sooner.

With this in mind as well as the state of our treasury, I propose a mandatory indemnity for the following cities:

Senatus-Consultum:

The Senate and People of Rome hereby order the following cities to pay the noted amounts directly into the Temple of Saturn above what they already owe as just and due for their taxes:

Capua: 643,000
Tarentum: 667,000
Brundisium: 267,000
Rhegium: 600,000
*All amounts in denarii.

Total: 2,177,000

This money will be owed to Rome before the end of this year.

"Gentlemen, let us debate this proposal quickly. This body voted down the effort to disband the Hirtian Legions this term. So it seems prudent to bring in the extra revenue as quickly as possible. These cities have not been harmed in any great way, and this indemnity is a small price to pay for their support of the rebels."

"Well, unless anyone has anything to add to this topic, I propose we move onto a vote."
