Proposal:Trade Delegations
Author: Galerius Antonius
Sponsor: Galerius Antonius

Backgound: In an effort to refill Romes coffers we can not ignore the kingdoms and tribes that surround our great republic. If we are to continue to be a major power we must continue our growth. When I reviewed the treasury accounts with the Cursus Fiscus he made it a point to show me there were no recorded trade agreements short of the grain agreement with egypt.

I. Senator Quintus Septimius is hereby authorized to form a delegation to begin trade negotiations with the tribes near Septimiana. Due to his family's long standing relations with many of the tribes, he will assign the appropriate members of his family to make the introductions.

II. Nerius Cassius is hereby authorized to travel to kingdom of Pontus and enter into trade negotiations on behalf of the Republic. If it at all possible he is to obtain any information about the local political situation and try to normalize relations with the kingdom of Pontus.

III. Tiberius Valerius is hereby authorized to travel to Parthia and enter into trade negotiations on behalf of the Republic. As part of the trade negotiations it should be made clear that due to the location of the seleucid states trade routes around there other territory need to be used.

IV. Parthia is large and has no official interaction with us so if this body would like more than one senator to go on our behalf that would be perfectly acceptable.

V. Galerius Valerius is Here by authorized to travel to Egypt and enter into trade negotiations on behalf of the the republic

Tiberius Flavius

Awaiting his turn to speak Tiberius rose to add his thoughts to the measure.

"I strongly approve of this initiative and think the sooner we can get started the better. The only thing I would add though is that with the recent troubles Roma has suffered, and the disruptions of the trade with Egypt, that it might also be wise to send a delegation there as well. That would serve to reaffirm our economic ties to that country, make sure our current agreement serves the revised needs of both states and set aside any fears they might have regarding the stability of the Roman Republic."

"Good Tiberius that is a a good point does anyone else believe that Egypt should be added to this proposal?"

Proculus Hirtius
Tribune of Plebs

Proculus Hirtius stood: "From what I have heard recently, it seems the new shift in the leaders of Aegyptus would call for a new visit. I would also like to add an amendment if I may... It is true that our holdings in the east at the moment are not too large. Though that won't always be the case. I would suggest we send a man of higher status to Parthia. Our Praetor Peregrinus comes to mind. Tiberius Valerius would represent our republic well."
