Conscript Fathers, Having received word of the bloody draw in Syria, I have prematurely suspended negotiations with the Regnum Taurica. I feel as if it is my duty to inform the Senate that Basileus Titus had an extensive list of demands for the Senate, which constituted a longterm diplomatic commitment from Roma... Once the Republic is in a more stable position and unrest has been quelled, it is my intention to reopen dialogue with Taurica. In the interim, I humbly submit the following treaty terms for approval by the Senate. I believe they represent an equitable exchange between Roma and Taurica, and have the potential to shift some of our city's reliance on Aegyptian grain... I. Roma will consent to the current measures by the Regnum Taurica in pacifying the Thracians tribes that have risen in rebellion. II. Taurica and Roma will mutually open port facilities to one another's merchant vessels without additional customs and duties. III. The Regnum Taurica agrees to sell Roma up to 2,100,000 Denarii at fair market price per annum for a minimum of three years, depending upon the demand by Roma and Taurican harvest conditions, demand. Done During the Second Year of the Consulship of Sextus Claudius and Gaius Licinius, DCLXXX Ab Urbe Condita |

Gaius Marius stood to speak, "Whilst I am glad to see more money flowing into the treasury, I wonder what caused the sudden change in Taurican policy, Roma and Taurica have a long standing animosity. Something that is not easily overcome" |

Galerius rose "War changes men noble Marius. These tribes in are hounding them, trade with us allows more money to flow into both our coffers. I have no problem and support trade relations with them. What we must closely look at is there agreement to sell us grain. The very LAST thing we need is to be dependent on yet another kingdom to feed our people.
