Proposal: Prorogatio for Marcus Livius

Tiberius Valerius
Praetor Peregrinus

Conscript Fathers, the term is swiftly coming to a close. As I have made my return to Roma, I would like to suggest that we formally consider granting Prorogatio to actively fighting armies. We can suggest to the Comitia Centuriata measures which would enable important campaigns to go on without potentially calamitous disruption in command. As such, I present the following Senatusconsultum for consideration by this sacred body.

Proposal Title: The Sicilia Campaign
Author: Tiberius Valerius

Introduction: In conducting a campaign, continuity of leadership is among the most important elements in assuring the integrity of command and discipline. Having met a difficult situation in Sicilia, where rebels have fortified their positions against Roman forces, Praetor Marcus Livius has managed to secure gains. As such, it is imperative that this body extend the authority of Praetor Livius to command Roma's armies against Hirtian forces, and consolidate gains against Macedonicus.

Proposal:

I. The Senate shall consent and recommend to the Comitia Centuriata that Praetor Marcus Livius be granted Prorogatio for a period of two years following the expiration of his imperium as Praetor of Sicilia, or until such a time when he re-enters the city and resigns command of his army.

Done During the Second Year of the Consulship of Sextus Claudius and Gaius Licinius, DCLXXX Ab Urbe Condita

Marcus Aemilius
Pontifex, Praetor of Illyricum

Aemilius stood to speak.

As I recall the Praetor Urbanus sought to gain information regarding this campaign. Have we any word from Sicily that these gains have been made? If so does Praetor Livius need additional support?
