Once Chung Mon had taken his leave, Geming Junjie was lead into the audience chamber. Zhang Gao smiled when the man was announced. "Ah, General Geming, welcome to Gui Yang. I've been looking forward to meeting you face to face." |

Time's a-wastin', chum. Pay up and we can get started.
|
Junjie steped forward and saluted. "The feeling's entirely mutual, M'lord. I can't wait to get started. Where would you have me begin working?" (Only 6 hrs before I lose today's work period; so let's rush through this. )

(just got back home!) "Gui Yang's markets are woefully inadaquete. Any strong state needs a proper economic foundation. Only then can the military arm be properly supported and supplied. So begin your work in the markets and we will go from there." (spend your first week upgrading the markets) |

"At your command M'lord." At that, Junjie released to salutre, strode out of the council chambers, and headed towards the marketplace. |

Cheng Dan found himself inside the elaborate halls of the throne room. Before him stood Lord Zhang Gao. Still quite nervous, he gave a quick bow before beginning to speak. "Thank you for inviting me to lunch," Dan said respectfully. "I have come to offer my skills to your forces". Edited by Cheng Dan, Aug 24 2013, 11:07 PM.

Zhang Gao was seated with a massive meal before him. Pots and bowls brimming with rice, meats, and exotic fruits. And of course wine. Jugs and jugs of wine. The portly prefect had just popped a piece of greasey meat into his mouth when Cheng Dan arrived. As the man spoke, Zhang Gao chewed and nodded before washing it all down with a swig of wine. "You're the one Geming Junjie told me about, aren't you? Sit and join me, Master Cheng. My appetite is always large, but even I can't finish all of this." Despite his words, Zhang Gao seemed to be trying rather hard to eat everything on the table. He took another swig of wine and wiped his mouth with his silken sleeve. "Tell me about your skills." "Well," he began, thinking carefully about his words in an attempt to impress his new master. "As a child I was fascinated with the flow of a battlefield, I would always attempt to determine the best strategy for both sides. Growing up, I began to study the topic more in depth, while also developing an interest in maintaining cities during short periods of peace." "My father instilled ideals of selflessness while maintaining strong ideas of my own. These values have shaped me to become the man I am today, and have led me to seek you out to establish those ideals across the land." |

When Cheng Dan began to speak of ideals and spreading them, Zhang Gao's focus drifted to the array of culinary delights before him. He tore off a chunk of meat with his teeth and slowly chewed it as he considered what to say now that Cheng Dan had stopped speaking. "Strategies and governance. Rare to find a man gifted in both. If your words are true, General Junjie did well when he brought you to me." He gestured again for the man to sit and join him. "We'll find out just how skilled you are on both counts soon enough I believe. Our fields do not yet produce sufficient food. We will start you there. But the time is coming to spread our influence. The neighboring cities are gripped with chaos and corruption. Ripe fruit to be picked, wouldn't you say?" As he waited for a reply he shoved a pile of steamed rice into his mouth and gestured for a servant to pour a mug of wine for his guest. |

Sipping his wine as he listened to his master, Cheng Dan nodded in agreement with what his master had to say. He was flustered by Lord Zhang Gao's compliments, blushing vibrantly. Noticing the vast amount of food his master had inhaled, he wondered just how it was possible for one to eat so much. Keeping the thought to himself, he got up and bowed once again. "I suppose I had better get to work, then," he supplied. "Thank you for your kindness and for this invitation. I promise you won't regret this decision." With that, he departed quickly towards the fields, wishing to impress his new master with his work ethic. Edited by Cheng Dan, Aug 25 2013, 03:52 AM.
