Has Hu Tu is ushered in, another figure scurries in and quickly slides into a seat at the head table near Zhang Gao. The resemblance is clear, but the new figure is younger, slimmer, and far more handsome than the portly middle aged prefect. Zhang Gao cast a scowl down at the younger man, but then returned his attention to the envoy before him. "Yes, thank you. Chang Sha was quite a glorious affair. My son-in-law is still sulking that he had been left out." He gestured to a grim faced, fearsome looking man seated at nearby table. "But Chang Sha is old news. We're focused on the future here. But enough about that, please take a seat and tell me what business brings you here, Hu Tu?" Zhang Gao pointed to a spot and servants quickly rushed forward with a seat for the latest addition. |

Once announcing himself and congratulating him on his victory, Hu Tu scanned the room out of the corner of his eyes as he listened to Zhang Gao thank him, "Yes, thank you. Chang Sha was quite a glorious affair" and quite a worthy one too, seeing that by his reports as he made it his business to pass through Chang Sha before coming to Gui Yang to meet with the victor. From what he had discovered, Chang Sha had certainly improved from its past position with its previous administration so there must be something that Zhang Gao was doing right, the question was if he was the right one to do it and what intentions he has in doing such. Afterall, one may appear to do the right thing, but often times than not there was another side of a person that was questionable. "Chang Sha is old news. We're focused on the future here", he then commented, which only made him curious what he meant by future. He certainly seemed like a family man to have his son-in-law with him, but was there an underlying factor as to why he had brought up his son-in-law's disappointment or was this merely a display of the Lord's charisma. Afterall, this was a banquet afterall, yet if Chang Sha was old news, then what was the purposes of this celebration when the future remained uncertain. Zhang Gao certainly had confidence or perhaps it was arrogance, to believe in his future victories which only served to make him curious more as to what future he was heading towards. "But enough about that, please take a seat and tell me what business brings you here, Hu Tu?", as he took the offered seat before answering his question, "It is your recent victory that has brought me here Lord Zhang. You may believe it to be old news now, yet no doubt by your statement you seek more than Chang Sha, which makes me curious as to what you seek, now that your power is growing which is being recognised up north where I come from. The same can be said in Neibei with the growing forces of Jiao Fu which makes those unaffiliated with these rising powers such as myself, as to why these powers are growing and what they intend. The people afterall require stability yet the future that you speak of seems uncertain...", raising his eyebrow, curious what his response would be as he himself spoke on the people's perspective on things, seeing as it seemed war was inevitable. |

"Regional powers are rising because there is nothing left to stop them from doing so. The Han has rotted from within and even the hallow shell is withering away. With no meaningful central authority, chaos as spread across our land. Lawlessness is now the rule of the land to many. So in response to these times, men of power, ability, and yes, ambition have risen up. Claiming what they can and doing what must be done to restore order and prosperity. I am such a man." The prefect stopped to shove a bite of food in his mouth and quickly washed it down by draining the wine that remained in his cup. "What do I intend you ask? I intend to expand. I intend to grow my authority. I intend to spread the prosperity and much needed order of my reign as far as I can. I intend to be one of the men who shapes this age and leaves behind a legacy for the annals of history." He leaned back and chuckled. "Now you've heard my answer, what do you intend to do about it?" |

(OOC: Apologises for the looong delay, had quite a bit to do with starting college/student finance/moving house, I'll get back to it now, truly wanted to answer it sooner) Hu Tu could not deny from his findings of the achievements Zhang Gao had pulled off so far, as the saying goes the proof was in the pudding, it was present and very much a fact. The question to decide however if such a pudding was going to prove to be fruitful and pleasurable to eat, or if the pudding had a soggy bottom, such being the inevitable result to badly made cooking. His attitude thus far has proved to be bold and certainly ambitious, hence the reason for him asking Lord Zhang of what it was that he was seeking and what intention he may have as he was not the only power growing in this turbulent times, especially with the rise of power in Neibei. It was clear that the government in power was failing, so he was certainly curious what his fellow attendants would find out from the other prominent figures. As far as he was concerned, Zhang Gao had much going for him since his influence had spread to Changsha with his success spreading even further to reach the ears of those all the way in the north. He couldn't help but nod in agreement as he spoke of how much of a failure the Han was, for a dynasty that was not able to be strong to defend its people should not be a dynasty at all. It was time for the Han to be removed. "So in response to these times, men of power, ability, and yes, ambition have risen up. Claiming what they can and doing what must be done to restore order and prosperity. I am such a man", Lord Zhang explained, clearly identifying himself with all qualities by the use of the term 'and', suggesting he did possess power, that he had ability and ambition, the question was how much which he intently waited patiently for the answer to reveal itself, "I intend to expand. I intend to grow my authority. I intend to spread the prosperity and much needed order of my reign as far as I can. I intend to be one of the men who shapes this age and leaves behind a legacy for the annals of history"...well, the man was certainly ambitious but did not hide such intentions, clearly wishing to take control of the land himself. Afterall, he was handling Guiyang and Changsha nicely, but is just a matter of time how things will flow when his power increases. He would certainly be a man to keep an eye on with such ambitions, before asking, "Now you've heard my answer, what do you intend to do about it". "There is nothing that I can do about it", Hu Tu answered simply, "You certainly speak truth of how unstable and how incapable the Han has become, as well as this you back up your goals with your first move on this chessboard by your claiming of Changsha but as I hinted at beforehand, you no doubt seek more especially as more players enter the board, specifically the Lord of Jiao Fu in Nei Bei. My question to you in this regard, is what makes you the one who will be able to shape this land above these other rising figures who seem to be standing up also? as clearly there will be the inevitable clash, once each has claimed what they can as you have said....". He left a few seconds for Zhang Gao to ponder on his words before proceeding onwards, "If you do not mind me asking, there is a famous maxim which suggests that 'there are three classes of men in this world; lovers of wisdom, lovers of honor, and lovers of gain', which of these would you call yourself?", such being important, afterall, so far he had suggested that men of power, ability and power has risen up and that he'd be one of the men who shapes this age, so it would be interesting to know what type of man he was...... |

"Why does one have to pick?" Zhang Gao chuckled loudly, knowing full well that answer was no answer at all. "I make no attempt to hide my love affair with all three. But that's not the answer you seek, is it? You want to know what sort of man I am. Or at least how I see myself. Where my priorities lie." He grinned and took a bite of food. "There will be a clash of powers, that much is clear to any man capable of vision. And that is the way it should be. A great contest that leaves only the most capable, the most driven, the most determined man left standing and all others either bowing to his greatness or shattered by it. This great clash will be the fire that forges a historic leader, one that will usher in a new era of peace and prosperity. But, just as there must be a storm before the calm, there will be war before peace." |

Before I can set up the battle I need to know two things. 1. How much food your marching with and which of the two NPC's you are taking with you. You can only attach one NPC to your unit; the other stays behind. Need you to repost with the above information included in your march post before 8pm. |
