This is where the liege or prefect of the city conducts business. |

Stepping into the council chambers, Junjie made a quick note of his surroundings. Guards... officials... more guards... good-looking secretary... even more guards. Seemed pretty standard. He picked the best dressed amongst the officials, and subtly attempted to get his attention. Not that much effort was required, due to his outfit; and another official got to him first. "I'm here to speak with your Lord, Yuan Shu," Junjie proffered before the official could say anything, "I lack an appointment; but I suspect he may be very interested in the services I might render. May I speak with him?" |

The official gave his most 'sincerest' smile to the newcomer and merely gestured with his hand to the large extravagant couch at the back of the council. Here was where Yuan Shu sat accompanied by two of his most finest and beautiful 'servants' hardly caring for the political discussions going on around him. That was, of course, until this official approached his lord and whispered in his ear. Of course the only words that registered with Yuan Shu were services rendered. He bade the two women to keep to themselves for the moment and stand on either side the couch. He stared at the newcomer waiting for him to perform the expected courtesies one would expect from a visitor to a rising ruler and future Emperor of the land. |

Junjie allowed himself to be led to a respectable distance from the liege, before halting on the spot and saluting. When certain he was the focus of the Lord's attention, Junjie bowed respectfully. Taking deliberate steps to not notice the servants plastered on either side of Yuan Shu, the visitor spoke; "Lord Yuan Shu, Governor of Ru Nan; I thank you for greeting on me on such short notice." Once again elevating himself to a standing position, Junjie finally broke the salute. "My name is Geming Junjie. I am a soldier, accountant; a diplomat, and acrobat. A jack of all trades, one might say. I have sought you out here, today, in response to your want for servants." Feeling that this was not quite enough to cover the introductory phase, Junjie continued; "I am of a substantial cut above the rest; and would like to open up a channel, so to speak, that we might form a working business relationship for future endeavours." With that, the man awaited to be addressed by the liege of the city; not wanting to drive the conversation too far forward, too early. |

Yuan Shu's attention was held a little by the person, but the idea of him being a soldier, accountant, a diplomat and acrobat sounded like it would make for a rather boring and typical tale of how great this person believed himself to be. Atleast he had a vague idea of the correct way to greet someone of Yuan Shu's noble position. "I have not heard your name before; that implies you are not quite the cut above the rest you believe yourself to be. However, I am an open minded man to 'business' propositions. Providing they benefit me, so perhaps you can detail why it is you have sought me out and what this is, without keeping me too long perhaps? I am afterall a busy man" Yuan fixed the man rather lazily with his gaze, while harbouring a desire to return to the work he was busy with prior in discussing that important issue on the people's needs. |

"I will, of course, cut right to the chase, M'lord. I am aware of your current position as a major player for the seat of the Empire. Your city stands to be surrounded by no less than four different armies; all equal in size to your own. Declaring your own state an independent Empire, while the former still stands, hardly secures ambivalence from these forces. What you need, my lord, is finesse. Is tact. What you require, M'lord... Is an edge." Junjie flicked his hair. "Among my other numerous talents, Lord Yuan Shu, I am a master thief. What if the cities adjacent to your own were to contribute to your accrued wealth? What if the supplies stored there were liberated; dissuading opposing forces from expanding toward your own prematurely? I can make this happen, M'lord. I can bend your opponents' priorities at a whim." Edited by Geming Junjie, Jul 12 2013, 09:39 PM.

Was he being lectured on what to do by this nobody? These opponents that he spoke were mere miscreants to begin with that were hardly worthy of even being mentioned, let alone considered to be threats to the fledgling Cheng empire. However, perhaps this nobody could be of some small use. That is depending on the price that was inevitable from the acrobatic accountant... that is apparently a master thief? "I would imagine then, being a master thief, that you being an unknown is a great... testament? Shall we say, of your skills as a master thief? However, that raises one issue in your illuminating speech. How can I be sure you are capable of rendering the services you claim to be able to provide and that it would be worth the 'payment' for such noble work? Could you provide such an example of success in these acts you claim? I require more than words for such a business agreement. One cannot afford to be wasteful and place trust in people with questionable reliability in these tasks when surrounded by enemies as you so accurately surmised." Normally Yuan Shu would have a man tossed out for time wasting. This time, however, acquiring the services of these individuals to do his 'bidding' as required discreetly may be necessary in the future. Providing they produced excellent results. One does not waste precious resources on incompetent nobodies. |

"But therein lies the beauty of my methods, M'lord. I am paid out of the profit that I net for you." Junjie raised four fingers. "Forty percent, Lord Yuan Shu. Forty percent of the gold that I liberate. You can, naturally, keep any and all of the supplies." At this point, Junjie lowered his mask; allowing the Lord of Ru Nan to see his face. "The first week, I will require no stipend. After the 7 day cycle, however, I will request 175 gold weekly salary; on top of the percentage. If all goes well, my results will more than compensate." Lowering his hand again, the man continued; "I currently work under the protection of Master Chung Mon; Grand Financier of Bei Ping. I have served him through a 3rd party for a vast sum of my life. He will gladly serve as my reference. Though he may need be persuaded to end my contract prematurely, should you desire a prompt beginning to this partnership." "I financier's words are of little proof. Particularly one of whom I hardly hold in high esteem, perhaps you ought to look for a more prominent reference." Yuan Shu was hardly convinced by the man, however he did gesture to one of the officials to make a note of the man's name. "I have little desire in wasting resources on a potential unknown, and therefore, it is of little interest to me at this moment to buy you out of anything or arrange trivial details as payments and cuts of profits at the present time. Perhaps when you are not in the service of another and are more worthy of the investment, you may return and speak with me again on this issue." At this point Yuan Shu gestured to his two servants and begun to return his attention towards them. "Is that all?" |

"I appreciate your attention, M'lord. In time, perhaps I will find the means to demonstrate the full extent of my abilities. Until such time," Junjie brought his hands together in a universal salute gesture, and bowed once more, "I wish you well in your endeavours. Emperor of Cheng." With that, Junjie turned on his heels and made his way from the council chambers. Perhaps a demonstration was, indeed, in order. |
