Factory Forums History

Factory Forums was created by Henry Garrett, on 10th May 2008, under the name "The Skin Factory", with the original plan to create custom skins for InvisionFree Forums, as a replacement to the recently converted ZetaBoards ThemeZone (Originally InvisionFree SkinZone). There was a gap in the InvisionFree market for a skinning community, since most other boards had closed due to intense pressure and competition from the SkinZone.

Extra staff were hired, namely autumngrasp and Tomorrow.Wendy with the title "Graphics Team", to help Henry complete requests for skins, and to contribute to the gallery for general use.

On 15th May 2008, the decision was made by Henry Garrett, and newly appointed Co-Administrator Gene Harding-Thrower to change the board's genre into a community and general discussion community. This was due to the fact that the demand for skins was overwhelming, and due to personal issues, both Graphics Team members had been forced to retire. This change in genre brought about a number of alterations - all the skin services were removed, and the graphics area remolded into a general section for creativity, into which members could contribute art and literary works, for comments and critisism. And thus, Factory Forums was born.

On the 20th May 2008, to cope with the influx of members, three Moderators were hired, namely Sheri, cold blue steel and Travis.Aurelius, to keep the various forums on topic, engaging and free of any spam and rule breaking.

The Factory boasts to be one of the most family and friend orientated boards, and classify themselves under a new genre of Community - "Social Foruming". To this day, the board continues to grow and expand, and has aspirations to be one of the most popular destinations on the web.

Only time will tell.
