Code Name: Dire Wolf Birth Name: Charles Lycaon Appearance: In 'civilian form,' Charlie stands 6'2" with an athletic, but not overly bulky, frame and slightly sharp facial features. His eyes are a bright, piercing yellow, hidden by contacts that make them appear dark brown, matching his short, messy hair. In his second form, he is a hulking, bipedial wolf with a hunched, feral stance and thick reddish-grey fur; if he stood upright he would appear the same height, but he is now a wall of muscle. Massive claws tip his fingers and his long muzzle is filled the the brim with sharp fangs. His fur colour lightens on his lower jaw, chest, and stomach, and his tail is tipped with white. Personality: A fairly friendly, easygoing guy for the most part who likes to enjoy life whenever he isn't ensuring that others get to enjoy it too. Can come across as a thrill-seeker who doesn't take things seriously when fighting the bad guys, but he has a protective streak a mile wide. Hit the right button--which is usually a person--and you'll have a vicious wolf man out for your blood. Especially if you harm a child or someone similarly innocent or helpless. Origins: One of few survivors of exposure to a 'magic virus' of sorts released by a supervillian some years ago in his community, he and the others were turned into lycanthrope-like creatures, with varying control over their abilities. Charlie, being among the best at keeping a leash on his 'inner beast,' soon left town to avoid the media attention the 'pack of werewolves,' was getting and found himself in Starlight City. Specifically, he found himself in the the Gallows, and one attempted mugging gone badly for the aggressor when he found out that his would-be victim was a real life wolf man, he decided to stay. Slowly, he accumuluated a few more superhumans and they started prowling the streets. He and his friends have made a habit out of staying out of huge, world-at-risk situations...but that could be changing... Powers: Super strength, extremely dense and durable, sharp claws and teeth, and strong sense of smell while in wolf form. He also has a vauge 'pack sense' that gives him a idea of roughly where the others of his team are and whether they are healthy or if they're sick or injured. Skills: Good at keeping cool under pressure unless one his specific buttons is pushed, and can often speak calmly, clearly, and infuriatingly cheerily at someone no matter how much he is antagonized; in fact, he finds it fun. Fairly good at reading people and picking up on whether someone is hiding something or lying to him. Interests: Sleeping until noon, napping in the middle of the day, howling at the moon, playing video games, cooking. Weaknesses: Not as strong or durable in human form (though still a little tougher than he looks), prone to morphing involuntarily if made angry enough, speech is garbled somewhat in wolf form. Code Name: TechCat Birth Name: Michelle Leppard Appearance: A slender, 5'4" woman with dirty blonde hair to her shoulders and deep grey eyes, Michelle appears healthy, if pale, but not overly athletic, and tends toward baggy clothes in cool tones. She wouldn't be very memorable if it weren't for one particular trait: her right arm and shoulder are completely gone, replaced by a robotic limb. Her robotic arm is very obviously metal, with no attempt at putting fake flesh of any sort overtop of it to hide this. It is, however, painted pale blue for no particular reason other than the fact that blue is Michelle's favourite colour. It is just as long as her left, but overal thicker with a slightly-larger hand, making it difficult to hide the strangeness even with clothing, but she really doesn't want to most of the time. While her arm is the only part of her her body that is truly robotic, Michelle near-constantly wears a number of gadgets that give her an upper hand, all designed by herself. Personality: Bubbly and friendly, with a shameless adoration of all things technological, from simple mechanical wind-up toys to vehicles to artificially-intelligent supercomputers, not that she's met the latter yet. She'd adore one if she did, though, as long as it wasn't trying to kill her enslave humanity. Extremely brilliant and inventive, but also a diehard thrill-seeker who rarely seems to value self-preservation. Origins: Coming from a wealthy family, when an accident left Michelle missing an arm, her relatives were willing to pay for the best to replace it. After she left the hospital, however, Michelle promptly rejected the best and went about making something better. Having always admired the superheroes of Starlight City, losing her arm and nearly losing her life gave her a burning desire to be a hero herself. And where better to start than with replacing her prosthetic with something more combat-worthy? Especially since the investments she'd made with her share of the family money was making her a very comfortable income. After turning her arm into a weapon, she went about designing and building a number of other little 'toys' to hook up to it until she was finally satisfied enough to give things a test run. After charging head-long into the Gallows and thrashing a few thugs, she managed to cross paths with Dire Wolf and they made friends faster than you can say 'superhero teamup.' She was the first member of his Freakshow and has been beating up the badguys with the team ever since. Powers: Robotic Arm: Very resistant to damage (though the paint does tend to require constant retouching) and capable of superstrength, especially crushing things with her hand. The fingers house long, retractable, metal claws that she uses to slash enemies. Metal Vest: About as thin as she could make it so that she could wear a coat or a baggy sweather over it if required, this skin-tight contraption covers her torso and hooks up to her other gadgets when worn. It's pretty good at being a bulletproof vest, but also contains batteries and solar panels to help power her devices if she needs to fight for long periods of time. Claw Gaunlet: A thick metal glove that covers her left hand and has retractable claws similar to ones her right arm has, though not quite as long. Rocket Boots: Big and bulky, not terribly fast beyond the occasional brief burst of speed, but fairly maneuverable. Goggles: Big, goofy-looking blue goggles that are usually sitting on the top of her head that have the ability to zoom in on things in the distance, and also have a night-vision setting. She also has a bunch of other miscellaneous gadgets laying around her apartment that she doesn't tend to take with her, and is always making new ones; among that is a total of three robotic cats--with a possible fourth on the way--for some reason. Skills: As made clear in her origin, really really good with technology. She also has a very good memory for information and trivia. Interests: Technology, tinkering with said technology, video games, cats, sweet foods. Weaknesses: Is still very much human, with all the squishiness that involves, and if immobilized it's rather easy to remove all of her tech other than her arm. Code Name: Vulpes Inferno (or 'Foxy Lady' if you want to get punched in the face) Birth Name: Gabrielle (no last name) Appearance: Standing roughly 5'10, Gabrielle is a anthropomorphic fox. Her head is distinctly vulpine, albeit with bright blue eyes with human pupils and long, jet black hair usually pulled back in a loose ponytail on her downtime or a tight braid in combat. Silver fur covers her entire body, lighter on her chest and stomach with dark grey 'socks' on her arms and legs, and her ears and bushy tail are tipped with black. A black paw shape is branded into her chest right below her collarbone. Wherever she goes, Gabrielle always has two serrated daggers with stylized foxes carved into the hilts sheathed one on each hip. Personality: Hot-tempered, foul-mouthed, and dislikes crowds or social situations. In fact, she just plain dislikes interaction with humans and avoids it whenever possible, with few exceptions. Relentless and merciless to her enemies, taking fighting villains extremely seriously. Rarely shows sign of a sense of humour. Origins: The end-product of a dark magic cult's attempt to create the 'perfect' familiar/bodyguard for their most important members, by magically 'fusing' a human sacrifice with an existing familiar in the form of a silver fox. She went berserk and killed her intended 'master' along with half the other cultists present while the rest fled. Once she had nothing left to kill, she passed out. She woke up hours later with a garbled mix of memories from both the human and fox used in the ritual and a handful of information that was apparently imprinted on her mind during her creation. Sore, hungry, thirsty, and disoriented, she grabbed up a few random objects from the floor--which included a pair of magic daggers--and dragged herself out of the building the cultists were using and straight into the blinding sunlight in the dirty streets of the Gallows. She hadn't gone far before Charles Lycaon, aka Dire Wolf, found her. He took her in, and, once she got her mind in order, she took on a human name, followed by a codename, and helped him prowl the streets as part of the Gallows Freakshow. Powers: Due to the nature of her creation, Vulpes Inferno is basically a giant magic battery. She generates a great deal of power on her own from eating and sleeping, and can also 'pull' power from objects or people into her body to replenish herself if need be. However, she can only use the magic in two ways: healing herself and channeling fire. She can set any part of her body on fire and even shoot fire from her hands or the tips of her daggers. Both herself and said daggers are completely heat and fire proof. Skills: Vulpes Inferno has a talent for finding weak points in an opponent and is often able and willing to use every dirty trick she can to win. She is also knowledgeable about some of the darker magics by virtue of the information she was imprinted with upon creation, especially ones that circle around death, though she cannot actually perform any of the spells she knows. Interests: Exercising her mind and body, curling up on a quiet evening with a good book, and writing poetry...Not that she'll admit to that last one. Ever. Weaknesses: Gabrielle has a large appetite due to the kind of energy her powers expend, and is also an obligate carnivore; she can consume things other than meat, but she will become ill and starve if deprived of it for a great length of time. Her healing only works if she consciously channels power into it, meaning that if she is rendered unconscious or simply muddled enough, her injuries won't heal themselves. A curse of her origin is that she is also very vulnerable to suggestion; in combat or a similar high-stress situation, this is overridden by her willpower, but if her guard is let down she will often find herself following others' suggestions subconsciously until she becomes aware of it and stops herself. If under the influence of drugs or mind-addling magics, however, she is prone to following any order shouted in her general direction. Even if the spell was only intended to give one person power over her. Code Name: Hellhound Birth Name: Angela or 'Angie' Appearance: A huge canine, Angie stands just over six feet at the shoulder and is built like a truck, appearing to be something akin to a mastiff breed with a square-shaped head and sort muzzle, short but floppy ears, wide body, thick limbs, and stubby tail. Completely jet-black with deep brown eyes and a blue tongue that some dog breeds have, only her size seems all that supernatural. At least until you piss her off: Angie's eyes glow blood red when she's mad. Personality: Your typical big friendly dog as a default. Extremely loyal of her 'pack' and willing to protect them with deadly force if required. Very intelligent beyond that of a normal dog and can understand and carry out complex orders, but has little understanding of human morality and society beyond what directly affects her. Origins: This one is Gabrielle's fault. Under normal circumstances, the fox woman would never build up 'too much' energy for her to handle, because her body naturally generated magic just like it did ordinary energy. However, after an attempt to drain a dark artifact she found after violently breaking up a meeting of yet another cult so that no one could use it, she made herself very ill. After trying to fight it down and properly absorb it for a couple of days, the power escaped from her body...and was absorbed by a stray dog. Warped slightly by her own magic, it turned the dog into a beastly hellhound that luckily still had the general mentality of a friendly dog. So of course she had to bring it home so that it didn't cause any trouble or end up taken advantage of by some villain. Charlie suggested the name of 'Angela' for the dog and it stuck. Powers: Is super strong and durable to the point of invulnerability, able to shrug off bullets or buildings falling on top of her. Very large, sharp teeth and jaw muscles built to get the most out of them. Also able to light herself on fire. Skills: Has a number of unique one to two word 'commands' memorized to save time when giving her instructions in a fight. Interests: Running and playing, napping, eating, being read to. Weaknesses: Has no ability to communicate beyond simple dog sounds and body language and has no ability to attack an opponent at range. |
