Aah ok. One of my friends is a psych major! But i'm not sure if she's interested in research/grad school. She wants to go into art therapy (she's also an artist ). Blaaah yeah, if there are only 2 unis around that have a good rep for graduate work, then competition is probably super high ![]() Haha yas maaaybe ![]() Minimum wage here is the federal average: $7.25 per hr (unless you're a waitress/server in which case, it'll be lower). Some states have higher minimum wages (like Cali) b/c cost of living is a bit more expensive. In cases where there's no minimum wage set or it's below the federal average, then the federal wage is applied. |

I tried running for 20 km in a marathon competiton thing for fun and it took me 5 hours to finish it. the first 2 hours was okay, running while joking with friends and stuff but after that it was hell. My legs mucles were so sore to one point I couldn't lift my leg over a small bump on the road while people around were judging the shit out of me. I'm pretty sure I looked half dead and ultra retarded lol at that time lol |

That sounds interesting! It's not that I'm particularly interested in research (in fact, it's why I didn't apply for honours) but the top two universities are v. research intensive and if you don't have postgrad qualifications you might as well not have a psych degree. I'm actually thinking about going into information management. I feel very passionately about the mess that is our research database system, which I still haven't figured out how to navigate after many years. Oh no, I don't think I can live on that esp. since waiting jobs will be most accessible to me initially and what if people are dicks and don't tip Thanks Yuwree. |

Good, you should send to me for editing, I have much ps skillz. Also, you need a theme, it could be "gettin' sweaty on dota".

It does! Don't know too much about it though; we don't typically talk about school related stuff when we hang out (unless it's stressing either of us out). That sucks what did you originally want to do with your psych degree?Go for it! What all does that entail?Ah yeah, really wish tipping was mandatory b/c some people can certainly be assholes...it depends on where you go though, I think. I've had friends who said that someone didn't tip well but never heard any stories about not tipping at all. I (obviously) live in a college town, and I know most servers here are other broke college kids, so I make sure to always leave at least 16%; My mom came and visited once last semester and she tipped our waiter $50! . Waitressing isn't the only accessible job when you just move here either - there's like a coffee shop on every corner, so you could be a barista. You could also apply to work at cafes and stuff. Just dig around a bit before you head out to the US, see what you can find! ![]() Note tho: our employment rate in this country is at an all-time low, so beware...Tho if you have a degree you have a way better shot than a lot of people. |

Oops, sorry. Totally missed this when I was scrolling yesterday. Thanks for the article, it's helpful. Yeah, I've heard about the hideously high living expenses involved. But all things considered (tuition, living expenses, etc), Plan Melbourne is still the 2nd most economical one by my calculations. Anyway, I'll be taking on a truckloads of moral and financial debt upon myself if any of my plans go through...Then failure will no longer be an option. RE: contingency plans-- If I don't have feasible plans of my own, the family will start making decisions for me. I know what they have in mind. Not fond of it. --- You're going to be done with uni soon, right? How does that feel? |

@bc are you interested in working in a health setting, or after doing psych is that completely out of the question? |

.. I feel like it would be to my benefit to step away from everything for a while before deciding whether to pursue a career in psych or something else entirely (more probable). Did you mean to ask if I'd like to go into health/clinical psych or did you mean health/general medicine? |

This girl is probably not going to grow up conceited. I'm sure of it. I think you Mexicans stole our Dutch weather. It's been between 16 and 20 degrees celsius the last several days at the end of October, when it's usually way colder than that around this time of year. |

I'll talk with Mother Nature about it tonight during supper. Can it snow where you are from? Because it's difficult for me to imagine that it can snow in Mexico. |

@Windy: They close the pass into the mountains where I live while it snows since it's actually a volcano and it's dangerous, plus people can get stupidly reckless, but once in a while you can go sledding or hiking. Don't think you can skii or snowboard because it's rocky as hell up there. |

Already watched it, I just love that dialogue. MPGiS is the only show where Who the FUCK are YOU? is a valid conversation at all times.

And LOL if I was applying for grad school I probably would have to step down from mod position because it's a lot of work and you usually need to apply to at least 7 grad schools because it's very competitive
What all does that entail?
, that is all.

I'll have to watch clips now.
