Aficionado of Yuri's Wiggly Eyebrows

Legitimately, the scariest thing happened to me tonight. My friends and I had gone to a local pub because they were doing $1 oyster specials. The area we live in is a pretty good area and is well-populated by lots of uni students from the nearby residential colleges. I had taken my new bike out because it was my first time riding it. We finished around 8:30-9 pm. Another friend of mine lived about a ten minute slow walk away and she had initially made plans to walk by herself but I offered to walk with her, especially since I had a bike and could easily ride back. As we walked along the main road, I noticed a middle-aged man walking behind us and I was getting a strange vibe from him so I head-checked him a few times. We got to an intersection and we turned off onto a street that was less busy. At that point, the man continued to walk along the main road so I disregarded my vibes and suspicions. From that street we were walking along, we had to turn onto a side street that connected to a road that ran parallel to the street we were walking on. As we were walking down that connecting street, I saw the same man walking towards us on that parallel road. I was more than slightly weirded out by this coincidence so I became even warier. The next part of our journey was to cut through a short path through a park that separated the main road that my friend lived on and the road we were walking on. The path we had to walk was about 50-60m long and was quite visible from my friend's road. As we turned down onto that path, I noticed the man continued to walk along the road, so I breathed a sigh of relief at how it was all a great big coincidence. Halfway down the path, I turned around and saw the man had done a 180 and walked back down the road and was starting to go down the same path as us. At this point in time, it was painfully obvious that this man was following us. Just to make absolutely sure that he was following us, I made my friend jaywalk across the main road. He ended up crossing at the same point. At that time, I was so concerned that this creepy guy was going to see where my friend lived and do God knows what. We made it to the intersection and my friend called the police while I looked around and stared at him. He must've been about 30 m away from us. Perhaps it was because he saw us on the phone and staring at him but he finally crossed the road and walked back the way he came. Ladies, be vigilant. My friend and I were lucky tonight. It just takes one time - that one time that you decide to walk home by yourself because you think you'll be fine - and dangerous people out there could do terrible things to you. Be on guard and never walk home by yourself at night. This incident has just made all those horror stories you hear more real. Always be safe. |

Freaking Scary! I'm super paranoid when I'm walking alone specially during the night. It's better to be paranoid than sorry I guess ![]() Glad nothing happened ![]() ----- I've had terrible things happening to me, thankfully I made it out safe. Like this one time this freaking taxi driver was not taking me where I told him to, it was super late, like 3:30 am. I had to open the door of the cab and jump out ![]() I hate taxis in my country. Orz. |

That's really scary RS, i'm glad you and your friend are safe! it's really sad that we live in a society we have to constantly be on our guard or else we'll get attacked (honestly, I think they should teach men to not be creeps rather than teach women to not walk home alone. it's a bit of a victim-blaming phenomena: "well, she was asking for it!" or "what do you expect when you walk at night?!")---- I just had my last final today and i'm pretty sure I fucked up the lagrange optimization question (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ w/e it's summer now. |

For some reason I feel absolutely obliged to watch it, although I have no time and I couldn't care less who wins it. I just have to. One of those awful habits you just can't give up. |

@Arti - orbital spin has to do with placement of electrons; they follow very strict laws of conservation with regards to charge, lepton number and spin. You can't have an electron with the same spin in the same region of space as another. it's one of the cornerstone's of quantum mechanics and high energy physics. What you were referring to was Einstein/Newton's idea of gravitation, which is what governs large macroscopic systems such as planetary interaction, galaxy formation etc. Newton discovered the basic laws and Einstein expanded on our understanding of them essentially becoming the ideas of general and special relativity - one of the hallmarks of early twentieth century physics (just before the creation of quantum mechanics). Essentially, quantum mechanics governs the tiniest of particles, while relativity governs the largest of planets. The two ideas have yet to be unified. This has been the physics lesson of the day! Stay tuned for next week, kids!

People keep saying that German sounds like an aggressive language, but I really don't think it does. I think it sounds kinda nice. Arabic sounds like a harsh language to me because of all the throat-sounds, not German. And I don't think Chinese is that harsh, either. |

I have a friend who loves to bet on the outcome. She demands a list from me before each semi/finial starts. I could probably just throw darts on the map or guess my winners geographically of course but I dislike losing, so by the time contest starts I'm usually very well aware of how painful watching it is going to be. There's quite a bunch of singers this year who can actually hold a tune though. I'm not sure if I should feel frustration or relief. Train-wrecks are fun. This site is broadcasting the show live as usual if anyone outside of Europe is in the mood for something awful tonight. |

My friend accidentally dropped his 5th generation (I think) out of his pocket while he was sitting down and the entire screen is cracked. It still works though which is cool but the fact that he uses it is pretty dumb; he could get glass stuck in his skin.
