what's the stupidest (or maybe most extravagant) thing you've ever done for your straight crush? or i guess any crush for that matter lol

for me, she's really in love with jack white and he was performing on snl. people wait in line for standby tickets, sometimes for 2 nights or even more depending on how famous the guests are. they give them out at like 6am on saturday. i could only wait friday night because of school and work, so there were already 20-30 people when i got there. they usually let in about 30-50 so i thought i had a chance. also they have a strict policy that there is only one ticket per person and it has to be the same person who waited in line that uses it. you can't give it to someone else. i wanted to surprise her so i got my friend (who is also straight and i briefly had a crush on. orz) to meet me at 5am before they gave out the tix and i ended up making a fake id for my crush with my friends name on it. anyways, it was fucking cold that night man. like 40F (~5C). that's not so bad, but when you are stationary and there is wind it sucks. i waited all night, made some friends, tried to sleep but it started drizzling at one point and the concrete was obviously hard.

fast-forward...she was super excited and happy, but we didn't get in. there were like 3 people in front of us before the cutoff so we probably could have made it in if i got there an hour or two earlier. we ended up drinking the night away. she's like one of my best friends now and there's an unspoken understanding of the crush i used to have on her lol so embarrassing
I've nursed many straight girl crushes through terrible nights of drinking, but this one takes the cake. We were 18 and really wanted to get smashed and hit the town so I ended up driving to the skeezy side of town to a place that didn't card and stood in line pissing myself while holding a few bottles of cheap vodka. We went to a park and got super drunk until the cops showed up and we had to high tail it out of there on foot. I hid in a ditch for two hours, cold and scared and dirty until I felt safe and had to hail a cab to get home, not knowing where the fuck I was. I nearly got arrested for that girl.

She totally fucked me over too by screwing one of my closest guy friends even though she knew I had a crush on her. Boy I learned from that experience lol.
I bought her Kinder Bueno for her birthday last year, did the same thing this year but I'm over it; She's my professor of Micro-economy.

Oh almost forgot about this year's crush who am over her too, I got her her driving licence back without paying anything after she got arrested for speeding and had to pay a 700 Dhs ticket.
You win lmao
It's a shame you're so far, I think we would get along well  (it's so rare to find someone as random as me)

ps.: so you "know people"... :spy:
My father is people ... :spy:

No, the moth landed on my head while I was washing it. How can I be showering with the bug still in my hair all the way through it? =_=

Actually the Burqa is not an obligation for women in Islam, there was nothing said about it on the Qoran. It's just those extremist countries like Afghan and Saudi Arabia and Qatar ... Just saying :)

yeah it's a niqab. I used to have a friend whose mom wore one. adds to the ignorance of the reporter in the picture, hence the hilariously amazing comeback
This is a good chart! I didn't know the name of the chador, but I knew a girl in high school that wore one. thanks for sharing!

It's fake and we all know she started wearing it because of her religious believes or pressure from religious people in her environment.

Not funny tbh.

Regardless if it's fake or not, it shows just how little people know about Islam.

and no, we don't all know that; a lot of women - even activists for women's rights - wear a niqab not because they're necessarily forced to, but because they believe in modesty (which is totally fine); to wear it in the west is seen as "bizarre" and is banned in some areas, but women still choose to do it because they believe in what it stands for. to assume that they're wearing it only because they're forced to is presumptuous.

On this subject, actually, I really like some of those hijabs that I see people wearing. They're really gorgeous, like, the colours and embroidery are so vivid and detailed. I wish they would make scarves like that. :(

some of them really are! My crush had to wear one when she was traveling to enter a few of the historic mosques, and the one that I saw was beautiful :D

hijabs are the most common attire that I see - if I see any attire at all - for muslim women; most of my muslim friends are shi'ite and aren't required or feel that they need to wear anything (except traditional dress to jamatkhana).

Modesty? They can dress modest without that absurd attire. To me it seems like a man's opinion on modesty and they have to follow it. I'm sure some wear it because they want to be ''modest'' but it's probably because they got used to it already; You can get used to anything if you live with it long enough and seeing everyone around you wear one doesn't help one bit. Yes, it can be because of modesty reasons, but you can't deny that it's also heavily influenced by religion. Some people say that it's their culture, well of course it is! In some countries their culture is defined by religion! And we all know where most of these women that wear niqab's and burkas come from, not the most progressive countries when it comes to women's rights.

The only person I ever asked about her hijab was a girl from my class and she told me that she had to wear it because her father and older brother told her to; she didn't have a choice.

Perhaps I just don't get why women would voluntarily wear that so I jump to the conclusion that they are forced to wear it because of social pressure.

Hope I don't insult anyone with my somewhat ignorant opinion on the matter.

sometimes.

I'm reluctant to because (and i'm about to sound hipstery with this word) mainstream feminism ignores a lot of people; if you aren't white or straight you don't really have a voice in the movement. but I do fundamentally believe in what it advocates.

I would say that I'm more feminist than most but less feminist than some. :P

maybe you should read up personal accounts on why women would voluntarily wear traditional islamic head dress. idt one opinion is enough to account for everyone.
