My mother tells me often that I'm way too paranoid but I'm glad I listen to my instincts.

Just a while ago I had to go buy some groceries but the usual store I go to closed early so I decided to go to the minimarket that is a bit of a walk away from my house and in the opposite direction so I returned to my house to get my dog. As I was heading there I had this feeling that I was being watched and sure enough, I saw a dude inside a blue car that was driving a bit too slowly and too close for comfort; I tried not to think too much of it and so I kept walking, reached the minimart, got my stuff, but when I walked out, I noticed the same car parked across the street and it might be my paranoia talking, but I thought the dude was still checking me out.

I was alone at the time and I didn't want to risk the creep following me all the way to my place. Shit like that scares the crap out of me so I rang up a friend so he could pick me up and let me hang out at his house for a bit. My brother just picked me up, but I'm still al little shaken up; I'm so glad I had my big scary looking dog with me. Always keep an eye out, ladies.

the best guarantee ever!!

I think Im kinda lucky to have a bit of a rugged exterior as well as my not so girly walk  . If I wanted to go somewhere at night, I just put on my jacket, put the hoodie on and swaggered outta the house LOL. But yeah, I still wanted to learn some self defense, and learning how to actually act in those sort of situations is important, quick thinking is the key I guess

@ Rexie: take a class if you can, it's a very important thing to have the basic self-defense skills under your belt.

@ Ihla :gaypimp: deal Ihlita

@Ihla
Good thing you reacted the way you did even if it was "nothing." One never knows.
Last weekend I went to my friends house to hang out and drink and she lives in the hood (in the projects of all places)
At around 2am one of my friends was leaving home but she parked her car across the street.
It was cold as fuck and my dumb ass had decided to wear short shorts so I was contemplating wether to walk her
to her car or be like LOLno bye bitch! but I ended up walking her.
Guuurl... we had to walk across the sketchy parking lot to get to the other street and as I was waiting for her
to get into her car I noticed a white car creepin down the street and I turned around and started walking back through
the parking lot and the f*cking car pulled into the parking lot. I was terrified. I was like omg should I run? no that will for sure get me shot.
So I just speed walked and dove into the door and locked it. As soon as I was inside the car reversed out of the parking lot and left.
I ended up spending the night there and the Police helicopter was flying around for a good hour lol

thanks god you're alright Ihla, that was really scary.

that reminds me a few weeks ago. i was alone taking the elevator to the basement parking lot, the elevator stopped and a middle aged man came in(he was heading to the parking lot as well). he smiled at me and started talking to me. i wasn't feeling comfortable having a conversation with him cause i've never met him before though we are living in the same building. i was actually scared that something might happen to me. but thanks god nothing happened. idk maybe it was just me thinking too much...

but i told my best friend about it and she said i should've went out on the 1st floor and wait for the elevator to come up.

Read all these accounts before setting out on a half an hour walk alone at 6am through an unfamiliar neighbourhood with a hangover. Scary stuff, glad no-one was hurt.

@Rexie Why would they even do that... it's just sad

@Bunny I think it's best to not reply to the conversation at all, and always put on your mean muggin face at all times hahaha. I know it sounded ridiculous but I hate randoms who try to chat you up like that. That happened to me quite a few times actually, so I just put on my headset (ipod not even on), replied with one or two words, looked pissed as hell and never made eye contact. And same goes with catching a cab.

@Pod Ikr, I like Namie but doing that is just a no no to me :-/

Thanks to everyonw.

@Anon: :blink:
Cars creeping around slowly always make me go into high alert mode, there's just something about them that bothers me. It might be nothing, but better safe than sorry.

@Bunny: I agree with Rexie, if you don't feel comfortable, it's best to get out of that situation ASAP. I don't really like it when random guys start talking to me out of nowhere, especially if it's at a cramped place like an elevator.

Gosh, I keep telling myself to stop suspecting everyone, but there are times when you just know that something's not right.

Ihlita and Anon, you did the rigt thing.

it happned to me last year. I thought a black car was watching me, so I took precautions. my relaives told me I was being paranoid.
some weeks later it turned out that the neighborhood was being assaulted by some guys in a black car, they spent a good time around, robbing ppl, before they moved on to another neighborhood. those were probably the same guys in a black car who I thought were watching me.

trust your instincts, ladies.

Shiiteee. One always reads about those stories of assaults and indecent assaults but it never really hits home that the stuff occurs until it happens to you personally. :chainsaw:

On another note, I just finished my hellish criminal law exam. :fun: My right hand has cramped so much but it's finally over. I don't even know what to do now with my piles of notes. So much paper has been used this semester. Sorry to all the green people out there.

So I was watching the news with my mom awhile ago and this seemingly gay dude was interviewed, he said something along the lines of how this saint will shower them with continuous blessing and etc etc and my mom said "I hope you're not gay so you'll be blessed" And I was like "What the hell?" I almost answered her but held myself back.
This is actually I think, the first time that I heard my mom said something directly about the issue of being gay and I was kinda disappointed.
Maybe it's just the moment or maybe she's trying to be funny but yeah, I was just a little taken aback. Hope she won't think that way about me when I finally have the courage to come out to them in the future. :-/

My closest friend came out to her conservative parents but after time, tears and a lot of love, they became her biggest supporters. So don't ever feel bogged down by what your parents say or do now. Perceptions and opinions constantly evolve and are never static. Don't lose hope, bb.

:alright:

My mother voices her discontent about gay people all the time. She recently snooped around on my laptop when I went grocery shopping because I left it on. I think she searched my history and i'm sure she must have found this forum, TLC and looked at some of my Skype conversations. Ever since that day she's been telling me to not talk to the crazy gay people online because there is something wrong with them and that I should stay away - she even said that like 2 hours ago. :wall:

Remember about the Jill M3agher case?? That poor woman :( , I was really taken aback by her story cus I walked home/around all the time, even when it was already late. And our suburbs are just next to each other, I got all kinds of chills just imagining it. It was really sad and horrible, and to think that she was only 5 mins away from her house :(

Anyway, congrats on yer freedom!! fangurlemo . One of my friends who were in law major said she got a major hand cramp after the 3 hour exam, she couldnt even use chopsticks properly afterwards haha, poor poor law students.

@One hit wonder My mum often made comments like that too when seeing or hearing things about gay people, I just refused to say anything cus I know she sorta suspects me somehow. Damn this situation that we're in

That Jill M3agher case was just tragic and heinous. Some of the cases I read this semester were pretty damn nasty but the M3agher one is by far the most malevolent. I'm glad nothing happened to you, considering that you lived in that side of town. It's kinda getting gentrified now but even back a few years ago, those suburbs were pretty rough and tumble. :-/

I have a short-lived freedom. I still have a Physiology exam but I'm just uber glad that law's over this semester. :eyeroll:

thank god I didnt live in the West, I went to Sunshine once and was like "is this even in Melbourne?"

Though Carlt0n North is pretty safe (I lived around the homie area), Fitzr0y isn't exactly the same. And I used to walk around circling the whole block at night, from Johnston-Brunswick-Gertrude-Smith then back to Nicholson, man I really had the guts back then haha, I just love mind clearing walk that's all. But yeah, I dont think I would do the same thing now :-/

uh oh, one more exam haha, when is it??

I know right...

Read tons of articles about the lyrics and music video, and it was one huge fanservice fest - it had nothing to do with spreading gay rights awareness. -_-
