@Arti cause I don't wanna quote that gigantic block of text:

No, i'm rephrasing what you said into a more accurate depiction as to what it really is. I don't really want to repeat myself again about it either. My reasons for disliking Conservatism i've made as clear as I can - I dislike it because it impedes the progress towards social change and equality; I don't believe you can just let social inequality fester until all of society comes to terms with the fact that it's wrong - it's a passive approach to social justice and perpetuates systematic oppression because of it's passivity. Marxism doesn't do that.

The problem is, regardless of whether or not they're upholding the fundamental tenants of Conservatism, they're still claiming to be following it to the T. Obviously, they wouldn't unless they felt their values were in line with the underlying philosophy of Conservatism. Also, non-Marxist communist states aren't described as Marxist - even Lenin lamented the fact that he could not uphold traditional Marxist ideology in his implementation; they're given different names because they're different.

Once again, you're saying I espouse Marxism and i've already said I don't. You're not actually making anymore points to be extrapolated upon for discussion, you're attempting to nitpick at my words in order to render my point moot and i'm very tired of repeating myself over and over so I don't foresee this discussion going any further tbqh. It was nice though.

I need to finish homework omg...

Also, @Orange Yea, I don't think we're going to get any further with this debate. We shall agree to disagree!

Good luck with your homework. I've finished college now and I'm in an interim period of nothing to do. :gaypimp: ihateit

i've got 4 problem sets to finish by Thursday from 4 different sections. I procrastinated so much today that I literally created an initial value problem as to how long I can afford to goof off before I need to actually work.

The answer was approx. 5.5E13 hrs.

Which basically means I get to procrastinate for practically 5ever so I guess this math homework will never get done
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Y'all bishes, math is gr8! ^_^

Unfortunately, differential equations is a very dense branch of mathematics. Makes for rather boring problems to work through and solve. I do like some things about it though, but for the most part, it's very cut and dry.

My brother just told my mom and I that he wants to drop out of his music shool and enter a theatre one. This one is a little less expensive than his music school so I don't mind paying for that as well, but I'm worried about this kid, he was so adamant about enrolling there and he only ended up staying for a year and a half.

How old is he? A girl I know who came with me to the Women in Physics conference, went to a shitton of physics faculty talks and seminars and TA'd for various physics classes just switched to a biochemistry major after 3 years; it's never too late and your brother will find his niche soon enough ^_^

He's 21. I suggested that he finish with his music school and then enrolls in the theathre one, but nope, he didn't want to hear about it.. As long as he dosen't say he'll be dropping out of that after one year as well it's all good I guess.

Nothing to worry about! Interests and passions change all the time, the idea of becoming a lawyer was stamped in my mind since I was 12 but since I started university Ive changed my program twice in three years. My roommate is an even better example, she completed her post graduate studies and obtained her masters in Microbiology with the intent of finishing her phD this year but lost her love for the subject, halted her studies within 6 months of finishing and just recently transferred to UofT for anthropology. She says its the best decision she's ever made!

idk, seems a little ungrateful to me b/c you're working so hard to be able to put him through school.

I'm sure he'll be fine! ^_^ still think your opinion should be valued, tho... =_=

My Papal likes to tell me the story of how his mom put him through his last leg of grad school. She was in the hospital (she was old, couldn't talk, and her health was waning) when he showed her his master's degree. She took it and hugged it to herself - it was partially hers, too. My grandpa never paid her back which sounds awful, but he said if he had paid her back, she wouldn't feel like she had any part in the attainment of his degree.

Idk, I always love when he tells that story. it's so heartwarming. maybe it doesn't give the same feeling through text/typing tho, idk.

Anyway, i'm finally leaving lab now (at freakin midnight) so i'll talk to you ladies hopefully in the near future! :bye:
