Yeah I know what you mean.. It's like there's so many members yet they don't even try to harmonize - They all sing the same thing. My favorite AKB songs are: Gosh, I could keep going on.. |

So somebody explain to me what AKB48 is about, I'm not sure I quite get it. I know it's a group but don't quite get their concept, I guess. I'm legitimately curious. |

Trafficking underage girls into child slavery rackets and making them dance shitty choreography for the rest of their lives. It's just an idol group that has more idol groups inside of it. |

But it's sooooooooo popular and after giving their music a shot I don't really see it. Is it just about a bunch of cute girls jumping around? |

Their concept is idols the fans can meet and see them performe at their own theater. Unlike other idol groups who you only see on TV. They also have this wierd handshake event which is

AKB48 basically is marketed as "girls next door" by performing in their local theater every day (?). Instead of having permanent members, there is a graduation system in place so the older members will graduate and new trainees will join. In order to reach the "senbatsu" (AKA popular members), they will have to climb the rankings and win the votes of the fans, as the fans can vote which members they want to see in the next PV and single. They still do activities like Kpop such as variety shows and dramas, but they don't have intentions to break into the international market by touring worldwide - it's very much a Japanese thing only. The 48 is a franchise and there are other 48's like SKE48, JKT48, etc. They represent the area the group are from. For example, AKB48 are Akihabara. |

Yes, I knew that. It's weird to me bcos these poor girls have to shake hand with these fanboys' hand who some of them obviously used it to j.o. before.

Yeah, there are some creepy wota. I guess all idols that have an image to sell will have to deal with that. It's a shame. |

My favorite AKB48 (and sister group) songs are: Beginner, Uza, Shoujotachi Yo, Team B Oshi, Manatsu no Sounds Good!, Ponytail to Shushu and KaT@0moi Finally. Also like Boku no Hana from that AKB48 Suicide Song movie, it's a rather sad song. Beginner is my all time favorite song because of the MV and lyrics. Can't really stand most of their bubblegum pop stuff and I think most of their theater songs are kinda crap. Kitahara and Yui are my favorite members. Sasshi is still in my top 5 after everything that happened though (She used to be my Oshi). |

I'm just happy Japan acknowledged a homosexual relationship and actually presented it as something not too sexualized. Kpop has a long way to go in my opinion. It's stupid how they encourage gay fanservice, but completely ignore homosexuality. It's the weirdest and most frustrating mix. |

idk they didn't really acknowledge it, it was obviously that they were just doing it because TWO GIRLS ARE HOT. Japan does the exact same thing as Korea. Stupidest music video ever. |

I don't think it caused a stir. Their candy commercial where all of them were kissing each other did. The commercial was very distasteful. |

I always thought that the car crash was some sort of symbolism for them having sex.
The music video could have been better if they turned it into a short movie like they do with some of the AKB48 singles. There was too much going on for a 3 minute MV. |

Yes they did though.. The video was about the relationship of the girls. It wasn't just like heavy rotation where they were prancing around in their underwear and kissing each other, this seemed like a genuine relationship and the lyrics about unrequited love. It's a huge difference to Kpop. |

When I saw the teasers, I thought that they were having a different-themed MV for each single, like A would get WMatsui, B would get the two random bitches in a party, etc. Also, the CD covers. They were all like yuri-themed, but the theatre version was them all just walking in front of a badly shopped bus. What? ![]() What???

AKB48 never ever did anything to acknowledge homosexual relationships. It's ok as fanservice and to get the fanboys going, but that's about it. They could have used KaT@0moi Finally to support the LGBTQ community, yet all they talked about in the interviews was how crazy everything in the MV was and somewhat treated it like a joke. Some individual members did show support towards LGBT fans; I believe Sayaka and Moeno. |
