Jurina was the first one to deliver the slap, I didn't get that. Rena got played like hell, yet Jurina delivers the first blow? Unless it's supposed to have some deeper meaning about that karma will slap you back in the face?

I AM CONVINCED THAT JURINA WAS THE ONE WRONGED HERE. I bet one of the girls was just a random crazy stalker. Akimoto is an INCREDIBLY vocal supporter of gay rights. Girls get handshake tickets just to tell her that they're gay, and she keeps mentioning how happy she is that people can feel comfortable enough in their identity to tell her and how much she admires them for ~being true to themselves~. She also mentioned wanting a rainbow stage to show support for LGBT, too, and writes numerous blog posts about how sad it is that people feel they have to hide who they are in this day and age, and how she thinks that nobody should be told that they're wrong just for sharing love. There's this really adorable fanaccount where this girl told Akimoto that she was gay, and Akimoto immediately asked if she had a girlfriend. When the girl said "no", Akimoto was like, "BUT YOU'RE SO CUTE, WE HAVE TO GET YOU A GIRLFRIEND!", and had this mini-conversation with her about it while keeping hold of her hand the whole time so she could talk to her about it (the handshake event stops when the girl lets go of your hand). ilu akimoto u boss mawfucka

SKE48* I didn't mean they were flying the pride flag, not at all. It's still to get attention from the fans and still counts as fanservice. However, the way the relationships are presented are actually pretty genuine and there are actual feelings portrayed. Of course some of the members themselves would have been embarrassed and somewhat shocked with the concept, so I can understand them acting a little childish towards it. My point is, this is a step (albeit small) towards making homosexuality somewhat more accepted. Kpop hasn't given us something like this. If anything, Kpop treats homosexuality like a joke. They can play kissing games, be paired together, grind on stage, but everyone is straight, guys! |

I'm using a SRS and occasionally translating Kalafina blog posts or something, but yess, I think that'd be good for names. I'm also trying to get a hold of an iDOLM@STER game in Japanese so I can try and work it out.Not really. The lyrics weren't gender specific at all, just cliche j-pop style that didn't go beyond "baw I like you". AKB have probably had identical ones about a guy, too, but decided having two girls smooching would bring in more viewers. 100% fanservice. |

idk, I'd prefer a legitimate video using lesbians to actually address gay rights rather than just "luk there r 2 gurls KISSING!!!" like KataFai. I mean, really. SKE does this a lot.

Nah, she didn't to me. I have a theory that she's so into gay rights because Miyazawa is (not so) secretly a huge gay and she's supporting her best friend. I have this theory because I have a crush on Miyazawa. Shameless bias.

I did, but now I'm not working as hard... Or at all. I've been catching up on my English reading, first. Nope, not as far as I know. My friend can play the Japanese Tales of Vespera (which I want to get, too) on her PS3, so... And the PSP isn't region-locked either. |

Well they kinda have to use the group members in the PV, since that's who everyone wants to see.. And secondly, if they took the homosexuality supporting too seriously they'd get grilled by Japan. Remember that AKB48 commercial where they passed candy by mouth? They got bashed for "supporting homosexuality" even though it was clearly fanservice and wasn't depicting relationships. |

Homosexuality was promoted in a very distasteful way in the commercial. I could understand that parents would be angry about their 7 year old children seeing 5 intimate kisses in a row during a commercial, even if it would be a heterosexual kiss. These kind of commercials aren't even broadcasted in my country where everything is quite liberal and free, I could see how citizens from conservative country like Japan would boycott it. |

Yeah, I don't mean that, I mean if they acknowledged it in the lyrics, which they didn't. Nothing gender-specific there. If you like to use KataFai as proof that Japan is more accepting towards homosexuality, I counter with GLAM's Party (XXO), in which they NOT ONLY acknowledge that it's two girls, but they have a really strong theme of gay acceptance, and it wasn't criticised, either, not like that Puccho candy commercial (as far as I know). They're not as successful as AKB, sure, but they've debuted only last year iirc, so. I thought it was 'cause that commercial was just distasteful and trashy. Which it was. Ew. NO Gekikara/Gakuran OTP.

That Puccho commercial was awful, and it was my first proper exposure to AKB48 outside of seeing them on billboards everywhere in Japan. I'm going to go back a few pages and listen to a few of those songs you ladies linked as all I know is RIVER and I quite liked that for it's coupling of motivational lyrics with... a river

I like the MV but I did start laughing hysterically at the screaming bit about halfway through ![]() These lyrics are intense, this is probably the only other AKB48 song I've liked so far. |

Gosh yes, I admit it was incredibly distasteful. However, a lot of the complaints were, and I quote, that it was "promoting/encouraging homosexuality". |

Ah yes, GLAM's party xxo was brilliant.. However, they didn't show any homosexuality in the video. I think if someone bigger, say, SNSD had that song, there would be bigger backlash. |

Probably because there wasn't supposed to be any fanservice, it was just straight up "it's okay to be gay!" and they wanted to promote fun shit. It's much better than KataFai because of the intent - KataFai is generic-ass lyrics with some random-ass fanservice for the sake of getting more sales. GLAM didn't show any kissing but they did show that connection between those two girls and the lyrics are VERY EXPLICITLY meant to be oriented towards homosexuality and acceptance of it. SNSD should try it. For reasons.
