A bit ot, but omg embarrassing asian parents (or just mine haha). :chainsaw:

So I just went out to get some icecream with my mom, and as always my mom is being difficult. Like instead of having 1 flavor per scoop, she wanted to have 1 flavor per 1/2 scoop and ofc don't forget the extra cups for idk what reason. As it was kinda busy in the shop, I felt bad for the girl that helped us, so being the nice girl I am and she was pretty , I decided to leave her a tip. But my mom didn't want to give her a tip, because she was 'just serving icecream' and grabbed the coins back and I think the girl saw it happen. Omg I felt so embarrassed, so I just left the scene without looking back :'(
My mom is an embarrassment too. She farted in a restaurant :'(

omg, haha. My Nana is similar - we went to a Japanese restaurant on Tuesday and she said, "can I have some cutlery instead of these bleeding chopsticks? I can't work 'em and I'd look a right twat". I was like, Nana, omg.

Vegemite is one of the rankest things I have ever tasted. I lived with an Aussie guy and he force fed me Vegemite daily. I'm sure that played a part in my current hatred.
:alright: i always thought it was like a national prank we were trying pull like every time some celeb comes to aus we'd be like "hey, try this thing, it's really great, it's like australian nutella" and just laugh our asses off as their face contorts in disgust and they try to spit it out whilst pretending to politely enjoy it

Eurgh, some trans guy is potentially suing for discrimination against my mom's workplace because he had a tantrum and refused to work so they fired him and this is somehow transphobic. That is not what the law was created for, idiot. :eyeroll:

Okay, i'm sure you guys have seen this before but... halp

You see a shirt you want for $97, you dont have the money for it so you borrow $50 from your mum and another $50 from your mum, meaning you have $100.

You buy the shirt and have $3 left over, of which you keep one dollar for yourself and give your parents each a dollar.

You now owe your mum $49 and your dad $49 and you have $1 yourself.

$49 + $49 + 1 - $99

Wheres the other dollar?

This is stupid.

You start with 0.
You get £100.
You spend £97, leaving you with £3.
You give back £2 to each parent, but keep £1.
You still owe them the £1, since you kept it, so adding £1 to £98 is misleading.

Edit: Elaboration.
You pay them back only £2.
You owe them £98.
The unit of currency you still owe them is counted within that £98.

There is no missing unit, since adding the £1 to the amount owed doesn't make sense, as she still owes it.

Parents gave you $50 each but 97/2 = $48.50 - you're not spending the total amount. If you paid back $49 dollars back, then there'd be an extra total net dollar given to each of them ($0.50 + $0.50) and you also gave back the dollar you kept. Thereby making it a total net of $2.

So, $98 + $2 = $100

it's there, just hard to see. It was already included. these types of problems are tricky :P
