I have all the DVD's, the manga, a tshirt, figures.. It's the only anime I've been so dedicated to.
I can understand why someone wouldn't like it though. Why do you?

What's your favorite anime?
I don't like the flat characters or the complete lack of plot, and I don't like how the characters have no consistency. I also don't like how they don't add in any conflict to resolve, like how they introduce a problem and then solve it within the next 5 minutes of the episode. The Hikasa Youko one had severe stage fright, but just put her up there and lol she does fine, no character development necessary! Oh, Main Girl can't afford a guitar? Eyebrows is randomly really rich and owns the store and can afford to just give it to her! It takes all the fun out of everything if there's no actual struggle in any of the episodes and everyone just gets what they want straight away.

I don't like the art, either, although the detail on the instruments is cool, I guess, but the writing is absolutely abysmal.

My favourite anime is Mai-HiME. lol. :$

Well the plot is the girls forming the band and finding opportunities to perform and write music together. I like the lightheartedness and the "lack of plot" as it's very easy to watch and laugh along to. I watched Bleach for a while but it was too heavy and long for me. I don't like when things get dragged out for too long. I also like Lucky Star which you'd probably hate more for lack of plot lol.

Yui couldn't afford a guitar and since Mugi's dad owned the store she got a discount. She's constantly portrayed as rich - it's not random.
Maybe I like it too because I also play guitar and it's just.. Nice.
I guess the main appeal for me is the cuteness and the humor.

That's not really a plot, though, that's a setup. You're supposed to use the setup to create an end goal, which I guess you can argue they have, but "play music!" isn't really an end goal at all, considering they play music every damn episode. And if Eyebrows is rich, then there isn't even any attempt at having a conflict, since you know immediately what the outcome is going to be. I mean, I play the bass guitar as well (as a hobby, not professionally) and I don't really see how that influence my opinion of the show.

It's just really not my thing in the slightest, and the humour got on my nerves as well, since it was all "moe moe desu ne" stuff. I need characters to care about and a plot to keep me interested, haha, as well as some actual jokes. I can't just watch nothing for the sake of watching nothing or I'll get annoyed at how little substance there is to that nothing.

I feel you anon. I only go there at the end of term to laugh at my classmates being drunken fools but it'd always horrible. I always end up getting groped or hit on and people spill drink all over me and my shoes then the heat makes my hair all messy...

The plot is essentially to make it as a band together though. There isn't some huge resolution that blows your mind away. It's just a cute story about friends in High School.
The "no money for guitar" conflict allowed the episode to show the girls working for money though, and it produced good comedy. I suppose you just don't appreciate the comedy since my friend and I laughed at every episode.

But I suppose if you're really looking for deep plots, complex characters and stuff then K-ON is a definite no-no.
But to say K-ON has no substance at all is pretty inaccurate. If you've watched all the volumes and movie you'll appreciate how the writers have developed their friendship and portrayed the heartache of leaving your school friends behind for University.

I like clubbing because I like the rush of the music, drinking with friends and having a great time.
Aspects that I don't like are the creepy men, getting sleepy, heels, wallet aching..

Are you sure you were drunk enough if you were feeling really self conscious? I'm not the most sociable person but as soon as I get drink down me it's not a problem really.

It's Brain Teaser Tuesday! :fun:

QUESTION:

Jessica bikes a distance of 8 miles to work each day. She leaves her apartment between 7:30am and 9:00am. If she leaves x minutes before 9 then the traffic is such that her average speed for the trip to work is 10 - x/10 mph. Find the time, to the nearest second, when Jessica should leave in order to arrive at work at the earliest possible time.

Yoona also bikes to work. She leaves after 9:00am and finds that if she leaves x minutes after 9, her average speed is 10 + x/10 mph. She has calculated that if she wants to arrive at work as early as possible, her optimal departure time is 9:20am. How far does Yoona have to bike to get to work?

and this is why you go to gay clubs haha

sure there are dodgy gay clubs out there but the ones i been to *used to frequent there a lot hehe* were really fun, people respect each others spaces and the thing i like the most about gay clubs is people just dont give a sh*t, dress all you want, dance all you want, cus face it, there will always be someone who dresses and dances weirder than you do

But most importantly: almost little to no creepy men checking you out! *based from my experience that is*

I club to dance and people watch hahaah so if someone tried to make an eye contact with me, I just broke it straight away, funny business is a no no to me. When it comes to dancing, I dance when Im sober, meaning I hella dance when Im drunk *dont drink neemore tho* haha. And people watching at a gay club is well....interesting

all solely based on my experience of course ;)

I think the more important question is if Jessica crashed into Yoona while checking out her bodacious rack and not paying attention to the road, could a jury infer negligence?

Torts is fun :)

ahaha i don't drink (or better i drink bacardi ecc. those things. i'm not a drinker really) ^_^
but i am sociable anyway.
and sorry, but i find a little sad that i have to drink and get a little drunk to enjoy something.
it's not a place for me that's all.

for example last week i went to a club and while i was "dancing" (jumping, there wasn't space =_= ),a couple in front of me (5 cm from me) started to kiss and touch. i was there like an idiot.
i didn't have possibility to run away,'cause there were 478937527475725 persons around me. it was very very awkward and embarassing. i wanted to say to them "if you wanna have sex too in front of me do it,don't worry" ahaha.

god,i was so irritated.

and unfortunately it's not the first time.
i repeat,it's heeeel

P.S and we wanna talkin about surprises in the bathroom??

Yeah sometimes clubbing can become very irritating. Last time I wanted to go home at like 11pm.
A creepy dude asked me to dance, and I politely declined, making the excuse that I wanted to finish my fishbowl. 5 minutes later he comes back and was like "come on!".. He kept coming back and back and it was even starting to piss off my friends. I went to the toilet with a friend and when we came back, our other friends told me that he offered to buy them all drinks if they got me to dance with him. He was so desperate and I felt really uncomfortable. Unfortunately in these situations, people blame the drink and think it's ok to be like this but it's not.
I don't really blame you for not enjoying it.
