hey other Korean anon, so you accept their privilege and am I have a grudge? so should I just support and compliment her because I'm a human?

I said her essay was bad so I said I hope she is better now

but other anons defended her she don't have enough time because she is a celebrity
so, I said if she don't have time to go uni then shouldn't just go there
because most normal students will be expelled if they attend uni like that
so, I said this privilege is bad, but you guys just defended celebrity's privileges

I'm old enough to know life is unfair, I experienced a lot but It doesn't mean that I can't criticize about it, and I have to accept it

I wouldn't complain unfair things here if you guys didn't say to me to just support and compliment her

I just answered because you guys asked me

I used to think who take privilege celebrities are unconscionable when i was 19 and even hate them. and I still think korea systems are suck. but you know, ppl have their own life and job how can everyone succeed in a same way? anyway you're decided to not to support and compliment them, but i'm not. i think this is differences between you and me

I do quite like maths, yes! Unfortunately, we didn't learn much at high school, and I've not studied it for a 2 years so I'm very rusty. I could ask my friends who're taking pure maths at university for you, if you want an accurate assessment. :D

good! I think It's not good to study math a lot at high school. I hope we are like that too.
I learned a lot but forgot it all now because I don't use it

Depends on what you enjoy doing. Maths for some people is easier than English Lit. for others, so I can see why people would prefer maths. Generally, though, people would agree with you. Maths is pretty unpopular. :P

Personally, I don't think academia should be forced on you at high school. I think there should be a choice at 13 between specialising in more practical skills, like perhaps building and/or cooking, and academic subjects, like maths, physics, history, etc. Not everyone is academically gifted, and intelligence isn't only measured in how well you can calculate a problem. I think it's unfair to people who're talented in other areas to enforce an educational system where grades in academics are the only measure of worth.

Why do you ask, Anon?

If it was her descision to leave then, it's damn stupid, career wise. Though I doubt they'd replace her and give Piper another gay storyline/relationship there, at least not as serious as piper/alex were.

I saw sometimes you told about math and we was talking about uni in here. I have to study math really a lot only because of entrance examination. I think It's one of most unreasonable thing in Korea
I wish I could enjoy math like you not for test. :D

Ahh, that's a shame. I agree that sometimes tests don't really help your interest in a subject, especially if they're mandatory, and studying for something you don't like is probably pretty hellish.

Is the course you want to study maths-related, or do you have to be proficient in maths for every subject?

I'd have to disagree with your notion in the second paragraph Arti, In Australia (Queensland atleast) you have to do just that at 13 years of ages, choose academia or vocational paths and honestly it's no decision for a 13 year old to be making. Heck it's no decision for a 17 year old to be making either really.

Then we disagree, but I don't believe forcing a child down a path it knows it doesn't want will be any better. Given the two evils, I'd rather have the choice.

Haha, I would've had to do a stats part of our psych course, but it was scrapped just before I got to college. From what I've been hearing, I should be very thankful for that.

Well, just try and endure it, Anon. If I can help in any way, be sure to let me know - I'll do my best. :alright:

Oh i definitely disagree with forcing children down a set academic intensive or vocationally intensive route, but if there was a broad, general curriculum whereas everybody graduated on the same playing field content wise, would be a much better option.

There is. It's called secondary school, and it doesn't work, because children will still be forced to take mandatory classes in which their scoring will affect how people perceive them. If you score lower on academic tests, people will think you're stupid, but that's not true. -_-

There's an emphasis on academic degrees that enforces this notion of academic intelligence being the only viable form of intelligence, and that you're worthless if you don't have it. I don't agree - I think that everybody has a worth and something they're good at, and that won't always be on the academic side of things. Even if they're academically unintelligent and they don't understand things like maths/science/etc., that doesn't lessen their value as a person or what they can potentially contribute to society, and I think the current system only perpetuates this kind of elitist dogma.

Really? Because the general consensus down here is that 3/4 of academic degrees aren't worth diddly unless your a genius. It's the Engineering and Medicine degrees which are held in high regard.

Longish response

@orange Last time I attempt a teaser with a raging headcold. Could I request more teasers that don't require too much mathematical proof? I haven't formally studied math in 5 years and it really shows. -_-

edit: Arti May I ask what kind of ancient history?

I agree, especially on that last point. You have no idea how envious I am of Victorian students who could do their VCE, there were so many subjects.....

I was one such ^_^

Although, that last point applies equally to this state. For example, my high school didn't offer Geography, Business Management or Ancient History. And the quality of the language and music subjects were laughable and I didn't even attend a public school :O
