Wouldn't you just +1, like, 2002 times for the last place, 2001 times for the place before that, 2000 times for the place before that, etc.? It doesn't sound too hard.

I usually add up the 10s, 100s first so I'd add 1, 10, 100... 1(2001 0's) + 2001. Sorry, I don't have a formula, I don't generally think in terms of formulae.

edit:
A

edit2: Assuming you're still in high school, they're probably just trying to test your conceptual knowledge/problem solving skills so it's probably nothing too sophisticated, right?

too early in the morning for this

Lemme math with y'all lol

So it's like
1
+11
+111
+1111
.....
111111(2002 friggen 1's)

So the last digit would have to be a 2 because it's 2002 1's right?

Edit: @babycakes technically I'm still in high school, but I'm in a program so I'm taking college classes too. The problem is like trig though right?

^ Well, I mean, if the last number has 2002 places and the sequence continues like 1+11+111 until it reaches 2002 places, that means there are 2002 ones to be added to the last column, right? Which means the last number is the sum of 2002 ones added together. Since there can only be 10 possible numbers (0~9), you'd probably need to do some dividing or whatever to find out what number it is, but it's in sets of 10s, so I'm assuming the last number is probably 2, yea.

idk though I'm too lazy to think about this properly and I just got back from a party. It doesn't sound too hard to work backwards.

So that many pages means either wank or something huge happened. I've got to get up early tomorrow for my FIRST FUCKING DAY OF LAW SCHOOL AHHHHHHHH.

Is pagecatch necessary?

I'm not sure about trig, sorry, I worked it out logically. My thoughts are very unorganised so I can't explain myself very well. But by my calculation it's (1998 1's 2002).

edit: Wow just realised I stuffed up something major.. Please ignore me. It really is too early, I just realised the question only requires the last five digits. But I do agree with your reasoning as to the last digit being 2 if that means anything.

edit2: By the same reasoning, the answer should be 89012?

With Arti on this one, I think you can just multiply to find the the last 5 digits
Spoiler: click to toggle

Although you're probably suppose to see something greater at play here (unless your professor has a habit of giving you trivial math problems)

So if you do work it out backwards it's like 1998+1999+2000+2001+2002. Wait that wouldn't work.
So if you carry what's left ( this is prolly totally wrong and I can't really explain what I did ) would it be something like this?
79012

Edit: nvm anon's answer looks more realistic. ^_^

Yeah, it seems ridiculously easy to me, and I've not looked at a single maths problem for 2 years, so idk if I'm actually right. Maybe we're missing something?

^ I think you're good enough to handle it, so you don't need luck. Having said that, too much luck never hurt anyone, so good luck!

And idk I'd have just added all of the ones in each column, since I didn't really think there was anything to carry and you're just adding ones each time, so one column over would just have one less 1 to add. I don't know shit.

orange Good luck! I'm sending you good vibes. :)

I like anons too although I get confused because I've no idea how often I actually speak to a certain one and it makes me feel terribly rude(?) like when you're speaking to someone and you can't recall what you've told them/what they already know and just end up repeating yourself.

My friend says he thinks you've made a mistake. I'm not 100% sure I understand him, but...

Here's what he says, if you want to know.
