If you could rob a bank, a casino or a place where they keep a lot of money, and you were %100 guaranteed that you wouldn't get caught, would you do it? |

It's not my money to take, so it's wrong and selfish to do so. A bank houses money that other people have stored there, and I don't have the right to come in and take that, and that doesn't change just 'cause I won't be caught. I think the act itself isn't something you should do, regardless of personal risk. ._. Edited by Artichoke, Mar 13 2013, 01:15 AM.

Yes, why not. I would rob the big company who avoided to pay their taxes. Those company built a branch in 3rd or 2nd world country where tax rate is low. They are making a lot of profit but they are trying to make more by avoiding tax. |

No. I don't take money I don't deserve. Money is meant to be earned and to help with living with necessity. About casino, though I personally don't gamble, and will never gamble in my life, and view casino as dirty business (though, I know a lot of other companies are dirty, too) but I don't want to rob any place, even including casinos. In general, stealing is just the most foul thing to do to anyone. It loses the sense of humanity and has absolute zero dignity. Like Arti said, it's wrong and selfish. Yes, I think so. Sometimes stealing seems the only way, but there has to be another way to approach on how to get money. Borrow from a friend or family member, ask for a loan, selling valuable but unused stuff. Run some kind of donation. ADD EDIT: Collect plastic bottles/aluminum cans. Stealing out of necessity is never right, not under any circumstance, not when you need money to help pay rental to prevent from getting kicked out, or even if it's for to pay for surgery to save life. @Taengoo Okay, maybe, not the most foul thing to do but surely not nice thing to do. I know I've seen people stealing foods, well, which is necessity, I honestly don't know what to say about them, I do sympathize, but I still believe stealing is not right. The world we live in sucks. I wish we don't have to resort to stealing but that's how life is for some people, for them to survive. This is my last thoughts, lol. I won't bash people for stealing, just expressing sadness and disappointment, though. I could see why they would do that. ADD EDIT: I apologize if I come off cold.

Hrm, I don't think stealing is ever right, but given certain situations, it can maybe be seen leniently. I'm never a fan of "one law for you, another for the rest of us", so I think that stealing should always be punished, but perhaps alternatives can be found depending on the circumstances. There's never any need to steal from a casino or a place full of money like that, though. Stealing a piece of bread to keep yourself or your family from starving is something I can understand and can maybe work with - stealing 'cause your life is "so horrible how else can I afford that PS4 my tortured and poor kids want"... Well, who gives a shit, frankly. Edited by Artichoke, Mar 13 2013, 02:18 AM.

I'm sorry, I don't intend to start a heated discussion. The reason why I asked this, is because a colleague asked what is the importance of money. He asked a few people what would they do with the money they gained if they were to rob an establisment that stored larges amounts of money if they were guaranteed that they wouldn't be caught. Most of all answered they would buy a big ass house, cars, gadgets, quit their jobs and live a comfortable life. Some others said that they would invest that money into a business of their own and save the rest as insurance, and very few people said that they would make sure to give the money to their families, use a portion for their own to start a small business (like a flower shop, bakery, etc.), and donate the rest to charity. Then he asked us what if money ceased to be a day to day necessity. Most of use were like, "Lol, yeah, sure dude", but then he invited us to take part in a little experiment. Get stuff through bartering instead of buying or selling, and some of us agreed to do it. Of course it won't be anything like trading a car for a thousand chickens or something of that magnitude. We're going to do it with the most basic of things: with food. He gave us 30 days to prepare with the condition that we spend as little (?) money as possible, the goal is to keep it up for another month but we can opt out if we find it too difficult or ineffective. So, I'm going to start growing my own vegetable garden and store seeds. I couldn't get my family to take part in this with us (with reason), but they agreed to barter with me should they want or need the stuff that I manage to grow and/or get through bartering. I have no idea what he wants to learn out of this, but it seemed interesting Edit: I should add that this is between the people that agreed with the "experiment", but we can also try to barter with outsiders. In all my life, all I've managed to trade were tazos. Also: Nobody in the group said that they wouldn't rob an establishment. O.0 Edited by Ihla, Mar 13 2013, 03:06 AM.

@lhla Ahh, sounds fun. Cool experiment. XP In my experience of doing trades, bartering is harder, money ratio wise. Selling is so much easier, because I'd just sell to get cash and if the amount of cash is enough, I buy the item I want to get. o_X" |

:yes2: That's an interesting experiment Ihla. Then again about the robbing topic, even if i manage to rob I don't want to use a single cent from it. I will donate the money. That's not my money so I shouldnt be using it. What are growing Ihla? |

I'm looking forward to it. Don't think I'll last long but it should be fun. :beam: Since I don't have much time, I'll go with the easy & fast to grow veggies: carrots, lettuce, baby potatoes, radish...corn is also pretty easy to grow but it takes longer. Also plan on growing beans and some herbs like basil, mint and chives. If we had started a couple months ago I would've have had figs and plums, too. I do however have some acorn trees, so I'll include those. Maybe I can also cheat a little and get some avocadoes, peaches and lemons from our country house. Could also use their seeds for soil or trading and the lemon leaves for tea. Should be easy to get and store lentils and broad beans. Oh! I also have some nopales growing already (don't know where the suckers came from, but they just need to be cut and cleaned) and could also get corn to make it into tortillas. ...but first I need to build the garden. :grim: --- About the robbing thing, I chose the third option: Opening a small business and donating the rest to charity. If I were to rob, well, it'd be better if I just happened to find a stash of cash but no way to return back to owner, lol, what would I do with the money, I chose the third option as well. We were going to do yogurt shop. But sadly, they decided not to do it. I had so many ideas. Like something of a cafe with mixture of yogurtland + banh mi & che cali. :wat: /sigh Edited by Radster, Mar 13 2013, 04:23 AM.

I hope you get to do it sometime. Don't know what banh mi & che cali are, but coffee and yogurt are awesome. I've always wanted to open a small bussines of my own. Played with the idea of a small caffee/library, a bakery, flower shop...but now I've finally sttled on an idea: a small art school/day care for children. |

Hmm yogurt & bánh mì together may not work too well. I just think you should specialize in one thing, make it known and get really popular. Even like shave ice alone (Snow Station) it did pretty well.. |
