Um... A few years ago, I think? 3/4 years ago? I got to know them through Mai-HiME, which I also stan to shit. How about you? It's rare to find a Kalafina fan on the internet, although anime fans do tend to know OF them.
I have been a fan of Kajiura's stuffs for a while...since 2005/2006. OMG I know about her through Mai-HiME too! ShizNat was my ultimate ship at that time. I remember reading countless ShizNat fics (Inter Nos is amazing). Nao is also my fave (because of her seiyuu, lol). So I've been a fan of Kalafina since the beginning (I actually love them more than Soshi). It's quite interesting to see their evolution from the beginning to the group they are now. Remembering it makes me teary. I know what you mean. I guess their fans are not that vocal?

Puking rainbows on purpose. It's like her mating call.
LOL, it's proven quite effective so far (Wakana excluded).

lmfao I forgot about Yuuka! They're just like a weird little talented family, aren't they? Yuriko K@!da seems like the only one who's escaped the virus of bizarre that seemingly infects all of them, but she might've just grown out of it.
One of this day, Wakana and Yuuka should just do a chopping vegetables competition. Yuriko is certainly not without her own quirks, although she is less odd than all of them (which is not saying much actually...).
Quote:
btw, do you like any FJ Yuuka stuff?
I like the usual ones, lol. Her Gundam songs, Kouya Ruten, Yorokobi (live version), Nostalgia, Nowhere. Not as much as Kalafina. I don't really like Yuuka's voice (not that she's bad), which is weird considering she and Hikaru can sound pretty similar sometimes but I stan the shit out of Hikaru's.

lmfao I just get this impression of Hikaru sitting in a corner trying to do sudoku puzzles while Wakana and Keiko have angry pillow fights in the background. SO ABOVE THIS SHIT. Even though you'd think she's the most shy, they all comment on how she's the strongest of them all. Her sharp wit is also pretty interesting.
At some point I wonder if her eyes get stuck on the back of her head because of so much eye-rolling. Like "Why am I friend with you again? Get me ouf of here." I was in stitches watching their Kawaii Girl Japan interview, esp when Wakana commenting how sharp Hikaru can be sometimes, lol. She's quite hilarious when she wants it, I remember reading a fanaccount of someone who attended their After Eden Lives and he/she said Hikaru has her own corner where she acted as salesgirl, offering Kalafina merchandises.

tbh I'm not fond of Hikaru Furu. I have some Kalafina songs that I'm ambivalent on, like Progressive, but Hikari Furu is the only one I'm actively "plz no" about. Have you looked at the lyrics for some, too? They're all pretty poetic.
What do you think about Wakana's voice lately?
Aww, I like Progressive. That's fine, though. I think it's pretty common in Kalafina fandom to have a lot of different opinions about all of their songs. A side effect of mixing so many genres, I guess. Kajiura's lyrics are love. It certainly add more appeal to their songs.
Wakana's voice, welp getting to the sensitive topic, I see. Tbh, I don't think she will ever regain her earlier voice. She seriously need to relax more and build her stamina, esp because her parts are the hardest. Combined with the fact that all of them are overworked (have they ever lypsinc? I can't recall it. And their songs are not exactly easy to sing too...), yeah...but she's not exactly a great live singer to begin with actually. I remember watching some bootleg of her performances pre-Kalafina. I think she has begun to get used to her new voice since Consolation era (well, in the studio version at least),
Was supposed to do something tonight but then I found out a new season of 'Holland's next top model' will start in an hour. All my hope is on this season being a good one since the American version decided to add boys to the contestants and that made the show ever worse.

[2] LOL, it's proven quite effective so far (Wakana excluded).
[3] One of this day, Wakana and Yuuka should just do a chopping vegetables competition. Yuriko is certainly not without her own quirks, although she is less odd than all of them (which is not saying much actually...).
[4] I like the usual ones, lol.

[1] I first watched Mai-HiME around... 2006? I think? So I knew of her, but I didn't keep up with her enough to be aware of Kalafina. Shizuru is my favourite, then Natsuki, then Nao. Then Mai. Then Haruka. I love everyone. And YES, omg. Inter Nos needs to update quickly already. I love ancient history, I love ShizNat, I love Mai-HiME... Perfect fic for me! I ship Nao with everyone one-sidedly. I'd like to have been a fan of them from the beginning! I adore them now, I can't think of a single group that comes even close to how much I love Kalafina. I travelled to Germany to see them live (thanks to my awesome mom, who's also a semi-fan of them as well), and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Have you seen them?
[2] Do you remember that blog post where she just completely attached herself to every single female as if she was trying to bodymorph into their side? jfc girl is thirsty as fuck LMAO
[3] YES. And Keiko can be off the side commentating with Hikaru, like a tsukkomi-boke routine. I would love to see that sfm.
[5] LMFAO yes. I love the Kawaii Girl Japan interviews in general, the girls are so funny. I liked the last After Eden one where they were talking about what musical note they'd be, and Wakana said Crescendo and Hikaru said pianissimo, whereas Keiko said something like G FLAT and Wakana was like "You find that note everywhere" and Keiko just went "thanks". What the fuck does that even mean, Keiko?! Have you heard about the KC where they were talking about alcohol tolerance, I think it was? Hikaru "has no limit".
[6] It's a good song, but I don't tend to listen to it much, compared to Natsu no Ringo. I guess I'm not into the sound of progressive rock as much as other genres, is all.
As sad as it is, I think I agree with you. At least her voice had a nice quality to listen to and she could actually hold a note generally, now she just sounds... strained. When you see her, too, she's sweating a lot more and she looks like she's in pain whenever she's singing. She's giving her best, but... I just don't think it'll work out. It makes me really upset to think about it, but that's how things are, I guess... Can only wish her the best. I think she knows she's not doing well and she's beating herself up over it.

Our post just getting longer and longer I'm sorry, it's just very rare to see another Kalafina fan who share the same enthusiasm.

1. As far as I know, the author of Inter Nos has heart problem, so I understand her long absence. That fic is everything, though. If she ever decide to publish that, I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Now, if only a Soshi fic can be as good as this... It's certainly interesting to see Kalafina in the beginning, considering the fact that everything was basically kept under wraps. No one even really sure about their identities, lol. Their earlier songs certainly didn't help people identify them. I never see Kalafina live, unfortunately. It's one of my goal to at least attend one. You like them more than Soshi?
2. That post was LEGENDARY. She just basically went cray cray. I was laughing the whole time when it was posted in forum. The fangirls were basically went "Yep she's gay", and the fanboys were hopelessly clueless.
3. Someone in KC suggested them to do a cooking show. Wakana do the cooking, Hikaru the arrangement, and Keiko...well, munching on the side?
4. Yuuka is Nao's seiyuu though, so it's not surprising. Btw, do you like Kajiura's non FJ/Kala/See-Saw songs? I like Houseki, but tbh if it's not the vocalist that she picked herself, the song tends to eclipse the singer imo.
5. I wish they can do more interview like this. The questions and answers were so entertaining. I think Keiko meant that she's just like that, basically EVERYWHERE, jumping around from one point to another lol. I rely a lot on forum and translation blog for KC because my Japanese ability is zero, but yes, I heard them. The translation basically said she "drank until her stomach was full, that's her limit", bitch be hardcore. Wakana is LOL though, she's basically in higher tension than usual if she's drunk.
6. I LOVE their rock-ish song. Mata Kaze..., Signal, Destination Unknown, etc. I just love HikaruXKeiko voice combo there. I'm a bit fond of rock sound.
About Wakana...she needs more vocal training, I think? It will certainly do her good. Poor girl can be really hard on herself and it certainly put a lot of strain on her voice. Come to think of it, all 3 of them should do that.
^ Siren of the Sea and Sucker Punch need to update ASAP. The only two ShizNat fics that I'm still following. Lost interest on Inter Nos after Natsuki got injured for some reason.

The author of Siren of the Sea is the same as Monster, right? If it's then YES. It's sad that the really good fics are rarely updated anymore. Who's the author of Sucker Punch?

That would be l0nely j3ster. And yes, SoS and Monster are both written by Sh@yP.
Sunny is having a party and has 20 guests, one of whom is her friend Stepho. Stepho, being the bad bitch that she is and don't take shit, is feeling vindictive so she starts a rumor about Sunny. A person hearing this rumor for the first time will then tell the rumor to another person chosen uniformly and at random with the exception that no one will tell the rumor to Sunny or to the person from whom they heard it. If a person who already knows the rumor (including Stepho) hears it again, they will not tell it to anyone. What's the probability that everyone, except Sunny, will hear the rumor before it stops circulating?
Bonus: do you think Sunny and Stepho will remain friends?
solution
Let 3,4,5...,21 represent the places of the 19 guests other than Stepho(2) who successively hear the rumor before it stops circulating.
3 is chosen by 2: 19 possibilities among 19 guests. 4 is chosen by 3: 18 possibilities among 18 guests. 5 is chosen by 4: 17 possibilities among 18 guests. 6 is chosen by 5: 16 possibilities among 18 guests.
21 is chosen by 20:1 possibility among 18 guests. You have to use the theorem of the bayesian probabilities (which if you make a bigass tree diagram, is pretty easy to backtrack through the branches and figure it out, even if you don't know the theorem; it's pretty intuitive) gives the relation:

1. Yeah... Well, I'll eagerly anticipate an update, since that gives me a chance to re-read. I appreciate all of the historical accuracy in it. Definitely. My fangirling over SNSD doesn't hold a candle to my fangirling over Kalafina, in the slightest. And that's such a shame! I think you'd enjoy it. If you ever do manage to get the opportunity, you have to let me know how it goes. They're absolutely gorgeous in person and such gracious people.
2. The comment where she said she got some "private alone time" with Nakagawa Shouko... Super shady, Keiko, gurl. Honestly, how some people were surprised when that tabloid article allegedly came out is beyond me. How can you not have seen it coming after that?!
3. I'd say "Keiko would judge the food", but she'd probably turn down half of it. A health nut who hates vegetables, that's an awkward thing to be.
4. She did a really good job, too. My friend is (used to be, maybe?) a huge fan of Kajiura, too, and she couldn't believe it when I told her Nao was Yuuka. She sounds so insidious... Very versatile voice actress, evidently. And... tbh I'm not a huge fan. Like you say, the singer tends to seem out of their depth and clash with the music, so I've never been that huge on them. Having said that, she did compose some of the character songs from Otome, right? I like Nina's, but I think Koshimizu Ami has a boss voice, so I'm biased.
5. This! The serious interviews are interesting, of course, and it's great hearing them talk about what they think each song means and how the concept speaks to them... But it's nice to see them dork out with each other once in a while, to see them be adorkable. I feel like KC is the only chance at that lately, and even then it's difficult to understand at times because of how fast they speak. I'm not good enough to be able to translate fully, and I don't think there's a reliable translator for it either.
6. Understandable. Destination Unknown especially is completely boss! I adored the live of it, Hikaru totally owned the entire song - her lower register is the best, when she's singing as fiercely as possible. Her tone has a really rough quality to it that's perfect for songs like that. Honestly, how can anyone not appreciate it?

SoS author is busy with her finance degree and Sucker Punch author (lonely jester) is at med school for plastic surgery.
I've not seen SoS author on Skype for a while. I wonder how she's doing... I should catch up with LJ, as well.

1. Yes, I just love them too much it's unhealthy. How's the live? It's AnimagiC, right? I don't know if I can be coherent enough if I ever met them in person. Breaking down and ugly sobbing expected. I just hope the security won't kick me out.
2. Holy fuck that's super shady. Just the two of them (I never knew the details)? If anything I'm more surprised that alleged article just come out now. What tabloid was that? And was it recent?
3. The weirdness of this group is certainly something.
4. I really want her to voice more character because of that. But she seems to enjoy her singing career more now, so I guess that's that. Mte about the singers. They didn't exactly have the emotion needed for the song, so it just feel flat. Yup. And I love "Storm"! I like her voice, very pleasing to my ears.
5. That's why I really want to see their lives in Japan. If what I've read were true, they usually just dork out during the MC, completely destroying the image they built when singing super-angsty songs earlier. They can't be as free when overseas because language barrier. I remember the hilarious interview they did in that show...what's it called again, Denpa Kyushuu or something? Oh god, it's just full of hilarity even though I can't understand a thing. Poor Macho-senpai and Pika-chan. I'm tempted to learn Japanese because of the lack of reliable translator, but of course it can't be easy.
6. I love the entirety of DU live. Hikaru just looked so possessed singing it. Her lower register is awesomesauce, and part of why I love Consolation (album) so much is because she kicks so much ass there. In fairness, I think her voice is not really for everyone and really take some times to get used too (especially compared to Wakana and Keiko). She also tends to get shouty in early Kala lives, so I think that's why fans is quick to judge her for it. But really, she's constantly improving and can now be consistent at lives.
I always find it odd that they have to link their behavior to another ethnicity. Just because they behave the way they do doesn't mean that they behave ''black''.

Well, it's not that strange, we do that with sexuality too. Stereotypes.

Now I'm legit a little sad that I didn't post my answer because it was correct (and I was fine with posting all my incorrect guesses to previous questions). I only had that final line of proof anyway..
