@anon above-- looked it up. Seems like an unconfirmed report, but the very thought of it is highly disturbing. TBH, death penalty in general just makes me queasy. --- @orange-- Ooh...do you happen to be a physics major, by any chance? --- Went to a café today for some peace and quiet. Wound up sitting next to a guy who started to stridently diss my school and the education system here for more than an hour for no discernible reason. Would have been interesting to listen to, had it not been for his sanctimonious, judgemental attitude and the fact that he practically knew zilch about what he was talking about. Don't even know why I was so irked. I'm usually quite chill about these things.

Yes, it's revolting what's going on in that country. Such evilness makes no sense to me. |

Ah. That explains the maths problems! YAY PHYSICS and maths!!! *SPAZZFIT* Ahem, I mean, I'm thinking of doing physics in uni too~ HOW ARE YOU ENJOYING YOUR COURSES SO FAR~ ![]() Eh, I'm from Singapore--so I'm still stuck in high school at the moment. The guy...I'm not actually sure, but based on his accent and the stuff he said, I'd guess that he's probably from the country, but has lived in the US of A for quite a while. |

LOL yeah I love math! and you totally should!! physics is like the most versatile STEM degree you can get. If you're talking about physics courses, they're ok so far. I have yet to get to the meat of the physics degree plan, which is like quantum I-III and electro. I'm excited about taking waves and optics next semester though - it's arguably the most important physics class an undergrad will take here. My math classes I find more enjoyable; it's always been a relaxing activity for me (aside from the times i've wanted to rip my hair out )Oh! I had a penpal once from Singapore! I hear y'all have amazing food

Read about it this morning. The didn't just get caught making porn according to news articles, they also were in the possession of bibles - which seems a bit contradictory to me.

I have to ask, how interested in politics and current world issues are you all? it's important for a "project" I have been thinking about for a while also, I want to ask you the gentleness of picking up a kpop song which you think that could suit a totally different (fan made) mv just because of the (suggestive?) lyrics. My suggestions: - Paparazzi (soshi) - Flower power (soshi) - The great escape (soshi) - Rum pum pum pum (eff ex) - Pinnochio (eff ex) - Sixth Sense (Br0wn 3yed Gurls) - Others (which one?) |

I'm very interested in current affairs and international issues, I really wish more people were. And I'm not that well versed in kpop, so I'd have to give my vote to Flower Power

Yeah, my parents don't even really know what physicists can do The only thing you can do is constantly reassure them; when you graduate with a physics degree, you're graduating with a specific skillset and employers know that. it's why physicists are getting increasingly more hired for engineering jobs than engineers are - it's the creative way we think that sets us apart. Idk what waves jokes you're talking about tbh, but I am aware of the uncertainty principle one LOL. And eehh kind of - degree plans are different for every uni I suppose, but here, mechanics and classical dynamics are separate classes; classical dynamics is like mechanics on crack cocaine. The prereqs for thermo are pretty heavy - it's an upper division course. I've finished mechanics and that's it really for physics classes - i'm only a 2nd year

I'm not surprised, since it's kinda an inside joke. Consider this scenario, though: room full of people with their heads permanently in the gutter + uptight female lecturer + demonstration of standing waves on a string using a mechanical vibrator

@Planck: omg ![]() Sorry this is late y'all, but here's the Weekend Workout Question for the week! ![]() QUESTION: Yuri has n pairs of socks (hence a total of 2n socks) ranging in shades of gray, labeled from 1 (white) to n (black). Being the fashion terrorist that she is, she takes the socks blindly from her drawer and pairs them at random. What is the probability that they'e paired so that the colors of any pair differ by at most 1? You have to give an explicit formula. |

n = set of all natural number ( 1,2,3.... n) n pairs of socks = (1,2,3.....n) Dunno how to work out the probability but it'd be very very high/likely imo. |

@runner --- Weekend problem: I'm stumped, but I'm guessing P(each pair differs by not more than 1) = [2^(n-1)]/n! Looking forward to the solution. /edit: Oops, it's wrong! |
