can't remember crying so easily since i watched Hachiko movie it's kinda funny that people were asking where she was and that she had gotten a life, but the thing is that she was writing this masterpiece just to make me cry like a baby

Hiiii Dyslexia and @poopy too, yeah I've been a bit busy with work and all, miss you guys too XD
Lol my apologies, I think with regards to Four Seasons, readers should just check every 3 months, I write slowly. My next update will be a Four Seasons chapter but I'm taking a short break first, I'm still feeling a little burnt-out from writing cherry blossoms. To the other anons who left such kind remarks about your reading experience for Under the Cherry Blossoms, thank you ^-^ It's a really flawed piece of work and I had a lot of doubts about it, but I'm glad it was received well. I planted references of SGSD in the story, did you guys catch it? lol Regarding the other discussions in the thread: - I started posting on LJ before moving to Wordpress because there's so much more "blogging" options on WP, there's a bit more freedom to customize which is something I was interested in. When I first started writing I chose the LJ platform because it was free from SSF censorship and rating-restrictions, I didn't know about Asianfanfics at that time. As a writer, I wanted the freedom to write as I please, posting on SSF and Asianfanfics where there are moderators, is not in my interest. - This leads to a trade-off. SSF and Asianfanfics both have a bigger audience than Soshipops. You will definitely get more readers on SSF and Asianfanfics. - Which platform you choose, really boils down to what you want to get out of writing fics. I write pretty niche stuff, slice-of-life, slow-moving topics, really boring observational stuff, sometimes I throw in magic and fantasy, while the genre doesn't really dictate where you should post, but audience expectation does, I think. I don't really have high expectations for wide readership (I have a simple goal in the beginning 10k views, 300 comments which I have long achieved, since then I don't really bother anymore about numbers, I'm more interested in readers engaging with the ideas in the story) plus I value writing freedom and having a certain amount of control over my own space, so WP works for me. - If you want to gain fame and wide readership, in my opinion what you need to do is to post an ongoing of a popular ship (TaeNy, YulSic, JeTi etc) on Asianfanfics. It doesn't need to be well-written (but if it is, that's awesome) but you need a bit of everything, fluff, angst, drama, make-up sex ahahaha. It needs to be an ongoing though preferably well-written, that's how you create a readership base that keeps coming back, examples: ES and WIWFTS. No oneshot has emulated that kind of success, I think the only noteworthy oneshot that keeps appearing on reader's list is perhaps Riot by Lacrymaspinta. You can draw parallels to the blockbuster novels of the publishing industry. You have to think big and how to position yourself, some marketing etc (having friends who are Influencers also help, they are people with lots of followers who tweet/blog/recc your stories, some writers have gained popularity through this method, I name no names). - Of course you could just write a really good story and hope that luck and word-of-mouth will take care of the rest. Erm what else. Inspiration to write. For me, dreams. A good quote, an old memory, a feeling, anything can be prompts for me but they usually come to me in the hour before I fall asleep. I end up not sleeping, just writing. Then if I feel that I really want to write this story, I'd start the development process, themes, build scenes around important lines, etc. Usually take me from a week to many months. It all depends. Anyway thanks again peeps, I'm usually somewhat nervous when I see my stuff linked here, I still retain bad memories from the first time |

Implim the purveyor of doom and gloom ![]() no but seriously Implim, and I can't stress this enough: you should be writing novels and shit, with original characters, not this! I would go into more detail on the why and the etc but this is not the place or time. I'll just say one thing, coz I'm almost sure you just said it yourself somewhere here or in a/n or whatever, and reading what adds up to maybe half your story I would've come to the same conclusion even if you hadn't said that. that writing about soshi you're likely gonna find it hard to pull the trigger. so the old piece of advice, which you might already know, it's if you can't torture a character enough - change their name is the first step. make them somebody else. |

Lol novels! I want to, but I'm not ready yet. Writing fics is a nice way to destress for me. I've only picked up writing for a year, it's been almost a year and I'm growing slowly, the past year I focused on length mostly. Writing is kinda like a marathon, I went 1k, 3k, 5k, 7k, 9k then boom 30k+ I think for Under the Cherry Blossoms, if I intertwined, Taeyeon, Tiffany and Jessica's lives, I think I can go up to 60-80k. But I only thought of this after I finished so... lol a bit too late unless I restructured it. But yeah, now that I feel that I can write at greater lengths, I am focusing on narrative structure, POVs especially, I noticed I have a bad habit of head-hopping and switching POVs within a single scene, I'm trying to correct this, I'm also trying to teach myself how to transition smoothly, because if you noticed, my writing is very fragmented. I basically write base on instinct, and whatever I write tend to appear in pieces. I hope to write a novel one day, maybe next year, a short one for my mum, I learn that I express myself better when I write, I think if I write her a story, it would make a lot of things clearer rather than I stumbling awkwardly all over with speech. Bout your advice, ah it's difficult though, I really focus on staying close to the visible characterization of my characters and take liberties when I can't observe a particular something. But maybe my inability to "torture a character enough" is also partially due to my personality, I'm a really mild person that dislike pain in any way, I cannot bear to see anyone in pain. “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” ― Ernest Hemingway I think this quote is relevant for writing emotionally-intense scenes but I'm not willing to bleed for my fics. I feel that if I do, I'll have a lot of trouble trying to stop the bleeding. There is something holding me back (plus I don't know if it's worth it..). I do try my best to keep the writing honest, but I write about a lot of things I'm unsure of, it's difficult sometimes to make sense of emotions when you're not sure of it. I think that's why I'm so fascinated with it lol |

Implim when i read your latest one shot i thought this is too good to be a fanfic, IMO out of all the fanfic writers in this fandom even some who have great fics you're the only one i can see writing a novel. Btw i loved that part where you wrote about being gay in korea i felt like you conveyed my feelings on the matter. |

I read novels, I'm not sure about writing them. I still see myself as a reader first then as an amateur writer. I think my readings influence the way I write, my favorite genre is the magical realism genre with Salman Rushdie and Gabriel Garcia Marquez my favorites but I hope to produce writing like Milan Kundera and I like poetry. You know, if I do ever write a novel, I'll put in my dedications, to the anonymous readers of SGSD. Ah the being gay in Korea part, I did a bit of research, read books and all, it's really difficult to source material on it, they have it pretty tough in Korea (really, really tough). It's all hidden there, the large majority I feel do not want to come out of the shadows. It's common in Asia. I come from somewhere in Asia and the LGBT community, you really do not see them, but my school was pretty gay and growing up I thought it was normal, I remember when I was 15, Sports Day and a classmate was apparently in a classroom making out with another girl from a rival school and the only thing the rest of the class was complaining about under the very hot sun, was that her being missing from the field would result in points being deducted (we were a very competitive class) People are people you know? lol. And I have close gay friends, coming out tend to be limited to immediate circles (fear of being outed to parents etc), a very small group of people. It can be a very lonely life. I tend to do research before writing, I want to be able to capture the mood and feeling well. |

Hey y'all, nelly here! ![]() Firstly I gotta rep BS a bit. Thanks to everyone that's been checkin our stuff out and keepin each other updated on our posts! ^^ Also, just wanted to clear up a thing about the Kiss the Shotglass tagging dealio. I'm tagging both TaeNy and TaengSic right now because both those relationships are being discussed in those chapters. I've figured out the endgame pairing for Taeyeon, but I thought if I only tagged that one, it would give the ending away. (I am however, unsure about a couple of the other pairings, which is why I said I don't definitely know all my end game pairings for KtS anymore.) Hope this clears that up! I'm pretty excited for the story to unfold, so hopefully it'll work out okay. Thanks for the support, guys!

I finally got a chance to read this (in one sitting, granted it lasted for hours as I had to take breaks from all these angsty feelings and shed few tears here and there hahahaha). Mmmmm what can I say, this fic struck so many chords with me that I cant help thinking that Im reading my own future. Everything's just so real, the feelings, the situations and how they were being described down to a T. Kudos to ImpLim (I wholeheartedly agree that she should write a novel btw)p.s I totally g00gled the great tit, I legit lold at that part now im off to read fluff...so many of them just to mend this broken feeling haha |

After finding fics that I've liked on AFF, I look at the author's profile for more stories from them, and then I look at the author's subscription list to see what they read. The tags are a nightmare to browse but really you can tell if the fic is even legible after reading a few sentences. If it is, I subscribe to it and come back to it when I'm bored and have nothing to do. |
