Yeah, they even have a reality show. Two teams are going against each other, competing to debut.

Check this kid out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8ZyBzfC9Wo

I think he wins all 3x0. And I think he's all natural. At least his nose bridge looks like his mom's, and his overall features look phenotypically possible for an Asian.
da
i don't care about PS and i'm no fan of x-oh but if you think he is better than their 3 main singers...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YojpWFgMuHg
da
lol really?
lol i didn't say it was great, but three of them have better voices than the boy the other anon posted. like if you can't hear it than you seriously just must be blinded by your hate. like i said i'm not a fan so i'm not going to defend them anymore but really. at least be objective.

I still can't believe d0ngwoon from b3a$t is full korean
I think he is mixed, always thought so since the first time I saw him
and I think they are hiding that he is mixed, koreans are more sensitive about this stuff compared to japanese, who usually think mixed japanese are more good looking (they really are)

I've also heard there are plenty of idols who hide that they are mixed

d0ngw00n reminds me of shirota yu, who is half japanese and half spanish

Another one who I also think has a mixing somewhere down the line is d0ngh@e from s00j00

Been watching the Korean drama Monstar because someone recommended it to me and it isn't bad, there are some pretty good songs in this drama. The only thing I can't stand is the Korean drama stereotype of the rich and popular bad boy going good for the leading lady.

he has to be mixed. he looks part european. i read a blind item once about a female idol having to hide she is half viet. i'm sure there are plenty more. gyur! doesn't even look full either. and these two boys look like the mixed asian kids you see in hawaii that are usually part filipino/japanese/korean/polynesian. fany had it hard just being american. no wonder they try to hide it :-/

lmao I remember this, the anon was offended was fuck, and I remember she flipped out too when I talked about nana being mixed
and yeah, I forgot about Nana, first time I saw her I thought she was half german. she reminded of claudia schiffer
in my country we have a lot german descendents, so they all have typical similar features, like nana

she is another idol who I'm 99% sure is mixed

She's in that group that was dubbed the twerking kpop group (although they never twerked on stage)
She's from the 92 line and her position in the group is as a dancer.

Would be nice if any Korean anon venturing this thread could give us an explanation as to why being mixed is looked down upon because it sure seems that way. :ermm:
That's not why the anons had that reaction. Somebody replied and posted a picture of N@na without make-up and used it as 'evidence' that N@na wasn't mixed. One anon didn't like that (something to do with monolids? idr), and another said something about being annoyed that people always assume that some atypical looking idols must be mixed.

The idea that all Koreans have only certain features and western/3x0tic looking idols are probably mixed but hiding it because omg Koreans are so racist is kind of insulting tbh. Not that I don't understand why people might think that (collectivist culture).

Overall, pretty people are well liked (ask Daniel Henney). The novelty of having a member with 3x0tic features is a reason why you'll see more celebrities with those features compared to the average population. Nobody really carea if you're mixed (white), as long as you're pretty (most idols are). The only reason I'd think that someone might hide being mixed is if they were half-japanese, but S1mon from D/\/\TN is.

da
that's not exactly true
is@K simmons talked about how she was mistreated by sm and netizens because she is half white
hy0ri used to get insulted and called an immigrant because her dark skin
t@sha has talked about racism she and her son have received

it's not about having 3x0tic features, it's about having europeans features
d0ngw00n's nose, for example, it's obviously european
n@n@'s face structure is westernized, among other things
and like I said, I've heard that plenty of idols hide from the public the fact that they are mixed, probably because of backlash

in various films and such I saw big discussions about how koreans are very conservative when it comes to marrying their kids, they should marry other koreans, it preferable that way, and sometimes a lot of people are forced to by their parents to marry other koreans. it is known that they are not fond of mixing

Just because you've heard rumors doesn't mean that I or anyone else should take them seriously. I don't mean to sound harsh, but I always hear people saying that they've heard this or that rumor and spread it around without proof. Plus, races don't own types of noses lol. I have family members with double eyelids and 'european' noses like D0ngwoon, but I'm the only mixed family member.

As far as interracial marriage, it's more about preserving culture. People might not agree with it, but it is a lot easier for families (especially the children). I don't mean this in an insulting way, but have you ever discussed this with Koreans or mixed Koreans? Watching without interacting might give you an incomplete view.

This is the only other thing I'll say about the topic. I know what it's like and I grew up knowing other people in the same situation, and it's kind of tiring to hear people make assumptions because of some idols. Some of the comments here have a grain of truth but are exaggerated because of ignorance. You can read netizen comments and watch tv shows/films but you haven't experienced it. But I guess you know more than someone who has.

The commentary about comebacks, female idols, etc. is interesting but if you're going to ask about something about the culture, do so with the intention of considering the answer.

I still love you guys though :)

Back in tlc i just asked a simple question is n@na mixed i didn't post any pictures just asked if she was mixed because I honestly thought she was blame my eyes, but i wasn't trying to offend anyone some k-anons there acted like i committed a crime. My question had nothing to do with netizens or tv shows i was new to kpop in general back then i knew nothing about it so when you get a reaction like that you technically assume that being mixed is looked down upon.

I can't believe I did this, but I went back and checked to see what really happened. You guys are totally exaggerating.
Posts
1) Someone asks if N@na's mixed, she looks german.
2) A couple of anons agree
3) Someone [PictureAnon] posts predebut/no makeup pictures and says 'you're stupid if you think she's mixed, 100% Korean'
4) Anons start replying PictureAnon because her posts insinuates that being mixed is bad
5) People start blaming k-anons
6) Resident k-anon iban says it wasn't her, says that Koreans like mixed-Korean celebrities and says she was offended by Picture Anon's post. Someone else backs her post.

That's it. Nobody 'jumped' on you. One person did the "100% Korean" post and most people didn't agree with it and Iban left because she felt like she/k-anons were being accused.
