Would be nice if any Korean anon venturing this thread could give us an explanation as to why being mixed is looked down upon because it sure seems that way.
younger generation are more openmind these days and half-Korean celebrities loved by Koreans but yes, many old generation and Xenophobics still look down upon now It's common to see foreigners and international marriage in Korea. but It was so rare to see foreigners in Korea before except us army Korea was so poor after war. so inevitably there was many prostitutes who sell their body to these us soldiers for living and feeding their kids in 1950~70. (I once read about CCM CEO Kim Kw@ng S00 interview, he said his mom was a pimp of these prostitutes) so, there was many mixed kids who abandoned from their us soldier father as well.
there is a movie about it. The Silver Stallion Will Never Come (1991) story is during war, small village girl who was raped by UN soldier became a these prostitute and you can find many other drama or movie or book about it
and see, this place never changed. thank you anon who make it clear. you know? It's not first time that some anons overreact in here and TLC. I'm really tired of it. whatever I don't want to waste my time again.
anyway do you watch memento mori? I didn't know back then, she and kryst@l really look similar. I should watch it again lol... I wish I can find No-Edited 3 hour director version
Spoiler: click to toggle
interesting your answer makes more sense than the other one and yes, live in an occupied country must be terrible thank you for the reply
da well if the girl burst out crying like that something is wrong and I find amusing how netizens are blaming her maybe she's even in a depressed state...wtf man I think Korea should really be more aware of these things
instead of being like "omg what a rude bitch she was rude to her seniors" they should be like "omg what is wrong with her?"
7. [+390, -16] What happened to Goo Hara? From her personality to her face... and it was ridiculous how Han Seungyeon took her side while she was crying. I could also notice the girls making fun of the MCs throughout the show. It's ridiculous that such a disrespectful girl like that earns $600,000 per CF. Empty headed with no talent whatsoever as a singer. And why was Kang Jiyoung even crying? Seems like these girls think they're worth sh*t just for becoming a bit popular. Park Jin Young was there as well, who do they think they are?
This makes me sick then be surprised when people commit suicide sorry, this is too harsh
3. [+6,264, -258] Obviously something's up for her to be crying like that. Kyuhy_n and the other MCs looked so awkward. And who does Han Seungyeon think she is butting in like that? Such a mess
and then this right after

4. [+3,146, -94] An awesome display of broadcast attitude ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Forget the crying, why did she even throw the water bottle?
If you're familiar with the show and Kim Gura, you shouldn't be surprised at the type of prying questions they ask. That's the whole point of the show, to ask uncomfortable questions especially about scandals. I'm pretty sure celebrities and their companies get questions prior to show recordings, she really has no excuse for acting like that.
She overreacted a little toward one of the mc's comments and even then the mcs still kept trying to maintain a playful atmosphere so it wouldn't be awkward.
"MC Jongshin: It's just that when we don't talk about dating life, we don't have much to talk about with girl groups Kyuhy_n: And she's the dating-dol Hara: Noooo! (throws/slides water bottle over at Kyuhy_n) Kyuhy_n: ... MC Gookjin: She gave it to you so you can drink it! Kyuhy_n: Ahh, she gave me it to drink ok, I will (pretends to drink it) MC Gura: She's telling you just drink MC Jongshin: Goo Hara, gifts Kyuhy_n with a drink "
Then later: "Jiyoung: (Anyway) He came and we said hi to each other and Hara unnie said "please go lightly today about my personal life" But ever since from the start... (they talk about it) MC Jongshin: That means *yuhyun knows a lot about H@ra's personal life? Kyuhy_n: (jokingly) if I open my mouth, it's the end for G00 H@ra Hara: (standing up) What do you mean! What do you mean! You yourself can't be so safe about (his own personal life) this either! MC Gura: We'll just sit and listen while you guys spill everything Hara: I feel like I'm going to cry"
She threw a mini tantrum because they asked her an uncomfortable question. In front of her seniors. JayYP kept his cool when they talked about him, and so have past guests (SNSD, $hinhwa, etc). I really like H@ra, but I can't defend her on this one. She had no tact and really needs to grow thicker skin. Plus Seungyeon made it more awkward by saying "you guys are so mean.." The girls thought it was ok to throw playful jabs at the hosts, but then got upset when they did the same thing to them.
They should have just sent Gyuri, she would've handled this type of show better.
I think the girl might be emotionally unstable, who knows? when britney spears burst out crying on diane sawyer interview, people knew something was wrong with her I think netizens and people in general should be more sensitive about these things. a bunch of guys ganged up on her and started pressuring her, obviously she's not comfortable about the matter and is most likely emotionally unstable, so she cries and people blame her? something is wrong here.
why is it that everyone is always so harsh on women? and you see that most comments are from women! female idols are always getting the worst while douchebags male idols get away with being mysoginistic, assholes and attention whores
the suju dude was at fault too being an idol himself he should know better than to do something like this he should apologize to her.i wonder if he has the courage to do something like this with members of his group or with any act from $m.

This isn't her crying in the middle of some formal interview, or sharing a story on Str0ng He@rt or whatever. This is R@dio St@r. They talk about sensitive issues that celebrities don't like talking about. So yes, they're going to talk about Seungyeon's horrible acting, Hara's dating scandal and treat them the same way as other guests like Nickh00n (drunk driving scandal) and $hinhwa (gambling scandal). And there is an expectation that if you're going to guest on the show, you're going to have to have thick skin and be able to talk about it. They were reading from scripts, which guests are given in advance. They didn't 'gang up' on her. Kyuhy_n made the cliche "you're over if I open my mouth" joke and she didn't laugh it off or play it off. She got pissed.
Oh well. If people here want to make her seem like a victim and make the mcs look bad, you're free to have your opinion. Even though I'm her fan, I'm not going to use mental health or her gender as an excuse for her to act like that in front of her seniors. The hosts treated her like any other guest, so why should she be given a free pass for her attitude?

da i thought the other hosts didn't do anything wrong they were trying to save her and make her look less mean especially when she threw the bottle. I think kyu's comment was wrong he shouldn't have said that talking about a scandal that everyone knows about is different from telling someone that they can ruin them i'd like to see him try doing that with soshi.
The "you're over if I open my mouth" comment is a common joke on Korean variety shows. Since they're all celebrities it's a given that they know secrets that the public doesn't, but it's an empty threat because it would create a kind of M.A.D situation if it really happened. Everyone uses it, and I have no doubt that he'd use it on his own members.

i didn't know that i thought he was being mean, well everyday is a new learning experience in this thread
you can't assume everything was scripted or people don't go off cue in interviews
you are not going to react with tears to something you were told was going to be asked beforehand
I don't understand why everyone is so hard on this girl I read comments supporting her saying that the hosts were slut shaming her on the show because she dated some guy for years, broke up with him and then months later started a relationship with someone else and now people are saying she's an idol bus. and if she cried when questioned about whatever they questioned, obviously something is wrong with her. either she's on her period, or just hurt or sad or even depressed why people act like she shouldn't cry or as if she's doing it for attention?
I've seen plenty of male idols crying on tv shows and I didn't see anyone calling them attention whores
and about the bottle thing, apprently she slided the bottle to the s00j00 guy, didn't throw at him and they are friends too

da i think she overreacted, i read the translation the hosts didn't imply or indirectly slut shaming her at all.

Well to be honest I think this right here is where we disagree because of culture differences I guess
I personally do not give a fuck is those guys are her seniors. What, Diane Sawyer has 409854395 years of career and britney spears cried when questioned about her relationship with timberlake and her messed up life. The woman had to stop the interview and no one was offended
If I'm fucking sad and I feel the urge to cry I'll probably not hold myself back just because I'm in front of seniors. I don't understand this concept and personally I think it's wrong and damaging to a individual. But anyway, I guess there's nothing to discuss here, it's all a matter of cultural differences

da i totally agree with you about the culture difference when anon was trying to explain i was thinking seniors so what if they are her seniors she felt like crying so she cried it's not like she insulted them. I don't even know who this girl is but i don't think she did anything wrong.

I understand that maybe you guys don't agree because of cultural differences and possibly raised in a country that doesn't have the sunbae-hoobae system, but Hara was and that's what's important. Her actions need to be interpreted using the culture of the country she was raised in.
It wasn't that she just broke down crying and that's why everyone's upset. Idols don't get into scandals for crying on strong heart. She slid her drink toward Kyuhy_n (which isn't violent, but it wasn't a friendly gesture in context) and when he made a joke she stood up and made an angry comment toward him. Then she started crying and she said she was angry. Despite the mcs constant attempts to make the atmosphere more playful (for the show and for hara's reputation) she took everything seriously and acted like a child on national tv.
Even if you took away the senior-junior concept, it doesn't change the fact that she came to a show where the whole concept is dissing celebrities and poking fun at scandals and she took everything seriously. She ruined the show and made the cast feel awkward/guilty for doing their jobs.

da The show is trash though and it was DSP that sent them. What were they supposed to do? She can react however the hell she wants. She's been getting so much shit because of dating scandals and her gender has a lot to do with it. You can't just ignore that. Sexism and misogyny are at play here. She tried to hide the fact she was crying anyway what more do you want? If she didn't react at all she'd just get called disrespectful for a different reason like Sul and Krys did.
I don't care how long K!m Gur@ has been in the game he is an asshole that has not learned anything and ALL the MCs should be called out. She told Kyu before the show she didn't want to get into that topic and he didn't seem to care (they made after the ep thankfully and I trust that he apologized after again too but still). S3ungyeon tried to keep up with the banter, it didn't work and it's not like she could really do it strongly or she'd be attacked too. Whatever. They shouldn't have to laugh at the shitty "jokes" written by the PDs and delivered by the MCs who are annoying af anyway. They shouldn't have to listen to these men say that the only thing interesting about them is their love life. This show never knows when to stop.
Others might have taken it all as a joke, but she didn't and that's what is actually important here.
