I understand that maybe you guys don't agree because of cultural differences and possibly raised in a country that doesn't have the sunbae-hoobae system, but Hara was and that's what's important. Her actions need to be interpreted using the culture of the country she was raised in.
It wasn't that she just broke down crying and that's why everyone's upset. Idols don't get into scandals for crying on strong heart. She slid her drink toward Kyuhy_n (which isn't violent, but it wasn't a friendly gesture in context) and when he made a joke she stood up and made an angry comment toward him. Then she started crying and she said she was angry. Despite the mcs constant attempts to make the atmosphere more playful (for the show and for hara's reputation) she took everything seriously and acted like a child on national tv.
Even if you took away the senior-junior concept, it doesn't change the fact that she came to a show where the whole concept is dissing celebrities and poking fun at scandals and she took everything seriously. She ruined the show and made the cast feel awkward/guilty for doing their jobs.
da The show is trash though and it was DSP that sent them. What were they supposed to do? She can react however the hell she wants. She's been getting so much shit because of dating scandals and her gender has a lot to do with it. You can't just ignore that. Sexism and misogyny are at play here. She tried to hide the fact she was crying anyway what more do you want? If she didn't react at all she'd just get called disrespectful for a different reason like Sul and Krys did.
I don't care how long K!m Gur@ has been in the game he is an asshole that has not learned anything and ALL the MCs should be called out. She told Kyu before the show she didn't want to get into that topic and he didn't seem to care (they made after the ep thankfully and I trust that he apologized after again too but still). S3ungyeon tried to keep up with the banter, it didn't work and it's not like she could really do it strongly or she'd be attacked too. Whatever. They shouldn't have to laugh at the shitty "jokes" written by the PDs and delivered by the MCs who are annoying af anyway. They shouldn't have to listen to these men say that the only thing interesting about them is their love life. This show never knows when to stop.
Others might have taken it all as a joke, but she didn't and that's what is actually important here.
x2 i have no idea how she is in the wrong for having feelings

You're right that "she can react however the hell she wants" but the public also has the right to react to her behavior. Nickh*u8n also received a lot of hate for his drunk driving incident, and guess what they asked him about? Celebrities can't go on that show and ask them not to talk about scandals, that's like football players asking the opponent team to not tackle them. It's ridiculous. The best thing she could've done is displayed some tact and laugh it off or played off of his comment. One of the MCs even tried to salvage that segment:
MC G*ra: After the recent hip hop dissing, now it's the idols' dissing battle turn. MC J0ngsh*in: Turn on Kendrick L*mar's song.
And as far as sexism goes, sometimes I feel like you guys just use that as an excuse to cover for female idols. Would a male idol have gotten the same backlash for rude behavior? Probably not as much. But does this mean that female idols getting backlash for being rude is unjustifiable? Maybe the magnitude of the backlash, but not backlash itself. I don't know if people here actually watched the show, since nobody afaik has subbed it, but I watched it without subs and I can't excuse her behavior. If Taeyeon was the MC for this show and she followed the script of asking/joking j*ungHi*un about the relationship, I doubt you guys would react this way. Talk about double standards.
It's not about having feelings either, it's about how you display those feelings. You might hate your boss, but it would be wise to control your temper around him/her. For celebrities, the public is their boss. CF deals, album sales, viewer ratings, etc are all because of the public. People watch this show to hear celebrities discuss controversies that they otherwise wouldn't, and the MCs try to maintain a light, playful atmosphere so it doesn't get out of hand. She's not a person with no accountability to anyone else and can act however she wants without people reacting. She's a public figure and a group member and influences the perception of that group. Her behavior affects her members, the group, her managers, all the staff that earn their living working with them, and the company. I think she should be treated accordingly.

sa I can't. Typical straw man argument with that Taeyeon example.
And S3ungyeon tried to "diss" when she told Kyu that he went too far and they had dirt on him, but she's already apologized for that because apparently that didn't get taken as a joke. Meanwhile MCs can say whatever they want and if a guest reacts badly then that's on them? Okay.
This argument is going to go nowhere. I will defend female idols because they NEED to be in this toxic environment that you seem to only be perpetuating. If they actually do something that is problematic then it's time for legitimate criticism. This is just beyond.

x2 can someone explain to me how her crying is offensive? did she raise her voice to them? she CRIED, probably because she didn't want to talk about the subject. what's the sensible thing for them to do? move on, let's talk about something else yay! smile gurl!
and if it was taeyeon asking the damn question or hosting, I believe (more like hope) she would be kinder and sensible to the girl to the CRYING GIRL, not be like "omg she's crying wtf rude bitch ugh that's so offensive"

You're right about the argument going nowhere, I guess we should just agree to disagree.
I'll just say that since this show is about scandals, these MCs did their jobs and treated her like any other guest. Maybe you don't like the concept of the show, and that's fine, but I don't know why I should treat Hara differently when there have been past guests that were grilled over their controversies and kept their behavior in check. They didn't slide their bottle across the table, stand up and raise their voice because they didn't like what someone said.
I will not defend female idols for something that I would not defend male idols for. I think that's true equality. Maybe other people won't treat her that way, but that doesn't mean you have to do the opposite and protect her just because she's female. Both behaviors (attacking/defending behavior just because of gender) are wrong.
generally for shows like this the topics and questions are planned out beforehand and given to guests so they can prepare their answers some show writers interview planned guests and make an outline of show topics and ideas based on what will be the most interesting to viewers, it depends on the show. sometimes they will plan parts of conversations based on these interviews. ultimately guests will answer however they want and its up to mcs to follow up on answers and string together parts of a conversation to make it entertaining but it's usually not word-for-word scripted

How about the label the work under, wouldn't they pressure them to not broadcast the awkward parts that might affect their idol's image? It's not live or anything.
I know these shows are somewhat scripted and IMO, most of the fault should fall on the writers, but I gotta vent about a couple things.
That MC saying that there's nothing to talk about unless it's something regarding her dating "scandals" struck me as a complete asshole. I get that this show is made up to put their guests through the grill, but wtf, man? Implying that the only thing worth taking about is her relationships with whichever guys she dated is beyond fucked up. And about Kyoohyun, I think that he's one of the most decent ones out of Sooju, but he also crossed the line. Gonna link this Dumbler post here since I agree with everything written in it.
Maybe, maybe she crossed the line with the bottle pushing considering the senior/junior relationship issue, but you know what? Fuck it, it's not like she threw the bottle at his face or even hit him with it, all she did was push the bottle across the table. She had every right to be upset, especially after she repeated several times that she was not comfortable discussing her personal matters.
This is all I'm contributing to the subject since it's pissing me off, especially after reading the comments slut shamming her. Goodnight.
ETA: Also just read a post in the complains thread, please remember to edit the names.
i can understand if Harakiri was chopped for throwing sliding bottle to sunbae/oppa. but how can she and Jiyeong are under fire for crying? how can cying be a crime? couldn't she cry becos it was a dissing program? what the fuck was that logic? i was guilty because i cried while being vaccinated then. and what was that backlash about Seungyawn butting in? what is the meaning of seniority to Korean? the unni should just sitting coldly while seeing her dongsaeng groupmate crying?

They usually just edit the boring parts out. If they did edit out controversial parts, it's not like we'd know about it.
Sometimes they broadcast something and it isn't until viewers interpret it a certain way that it becomes controversial. (ex. on this show CelebrityA said this, but on a show a few weeks ago she said something that contradicts that: she lied)
I think more influential labels (large:$M, chaebol-back-CC/\/\) might have the influence that mcs will tread lightly with them but ultimately they're at the mercy of whoever edits it
I've been trying to find that 3 hour long version as well! Apparently that version makes it more obvious that the three leading ladies were in a love triangle.
I think I found 3 hour version. video quality is low and no narration audio but there are more scenes.
That comment by kyoo really irked me. Way to imply so many f*cked up things when you know people who are watching are just dying to get any little soundbite to blow out of proportion. What are they gonna think when they hear that? Their brains are going to work overtime and come up with all these ridiculous scenarios. Scenarios that are fueled by all her little minuscule ~scandals~. She had every right to get mad and in my opinion she tried to play it off with the whole standing up thing. She was saying what she wanted to say but kind of smiling. I don't blame her for crying. When I'm really mad i can't control it and cry. God forbid she shows any human emotion. You can't stop things like that from happening. I get that most of the time they have to bite their tongue and just put up with all this bs that people throw at them but there comes a point where you can't take it anymore. I'm surprised she put up with it the way she did. I would've lost it big time and given all those people something to REALLY comment on.

this show is for controversy. controversy is batter than indifference for celebrity. who knows? maybe It's a noise marketing. since people lost interest about them after they focus on Japan activity

DA It seems some anons in here don't understand 'business' and 'job' they are not only a female but also a professional worker in entertainment workplace viewers pay money and watch a bunch of TV commercials to see celebrities will be dissed on this show I agree with you. if female idols are treated differently, that's not true equality
talking about radi0star I remember bo0m episode. bo0m once said he dated junk0 but junk0 said she just met him sometimes not dating. awkward. he thought they are dating later when bo0m appeared on radi0star. K!m Gur@ kept calling junk0! junk0! junk0!

x2 I'm seeing a lot of comments about how she was rude and should have considered the hosts feelings, lol, so she should consider the hosts feelings, but they can't consider hers? Nobody said he shouldn't have asked if that's his job but if she says more than once I don't want to talk about it then they should drop it and move onto something else, not be assholes and be like lol well your scandals are the only thing worth talking about, that's just rude, but ofc he doesn't get bashed for that.
oh I would not last as an idol I would probably pull a jay p@rk and not give a fuck
lol expect j@y is famous for being in a boy group, promotes his solo stuff the same way other idols do, goes on variety shows and gives the same sugary sweet answers everyone else does
it's only outside of korean stuff he acts a douche and "not give a fuck"

I agree with you. If she didn't want to be put in the position she was in, she shouldn't have gone on the show, knowing full well what was likely to happen. It would be equally embarrassing if a male had reacted that way, so I'll be equally as embarrassed that a female did.

twatter is variety? and they don't cause scandals, the only time he got in trouble properly was when he tweeted a photo of him with his finger up, which he said sorry for. if he didn't care he'd not have done the usual sorry! i'll show a better side!
like i said on variety shows he plays the polite typical male idol, he only acts different outside of korean shows so i get amused when people act like he doesn't care when he uses the idol side of things to promote and pay his bills.

I think its their company who chooses who goes, probably depending on schedules. Or maybe its the PDs who ask for a specific member. I don't think she could've said no. And if she asked beforehand and on the show to not talk about her dating life then that request should have been respected.

I think its their company who chooses who goes, probably depending on schedules. Or maybe its the PDs who ask for a specific member. I don't think she could've said no. And if she asked beforehand and on the show to not talk about her dating life then that request should have been respected.
x2 most idols probably don't get to decide on the shows they do. she didn't agree to being asked, she asked him before the show not to ask and then during the show when they did it anyway she said i don't want to talk about this and they kept on.
watch him on variety he is just like every other idol
da his twatter is not like other idols and yes, koreans pay attention to his twitter. he gets in a lot of trouble for the things he does on it.
twatter is variety? and they don't cause scandals, the only time he got in trouble properly was when he tweeted a photo of him with his finger up, which he said sorry for. if he didn't care he'd not have done the usual sorry! i'll show a better side!
like i said on variety shows he plays the polite typical male idol, he only acts different outside of korean shows so i get amused when people act like he doesn't care when he uses the idol side of things to promote and pay his bills.
it doesn't matter if it's not variety, it's still in the public eye. korean stars have done a lot of damage to their images because of what they've said on twatter. his middle finger was a while ago, but he had another controversy recently for some pictures he took that referenced to his private parts. he doesn't give a fuck about what he does.
i'm not defending him and saying he's a great role model or like that. i'm just saying he is one of the idols/stars who really doesn't give a fuck.
DA It seems some anons in here don't understand 'business' and 'job' they are not only a female but also a professional worker in entertainment workplace viewers pay money and watch a bunch of TV commercials to see celebrities will be dissed on this show I agree with you. if female idols are treated differently, that's not true equality
DA x2. it's all about being professional. those MCs were just doing their jobs. i do feel sorry for what they're going through right now tho. knetz should learn to be more forgiving.
and btw if it was a male idol who reacted that way, i'll probably react more strongly tbh.
After reading the comments, I was curious and went looking for the subbed cuts. I guess I was expecting a bit more, idt she was rude (maybe a cultural thing) but probably should've come more prepared e.g. deny everything and tell random stories to distract from whatever she didn't wanna talk about as per every other idol. I hate these shows anyhow, the hosts are usually obnoxious or rude (and feel justified in being d-bags because it's that kind of show and you should expect it).
Why doesn't somebody stop her? Why?? I thought I couldn't be surprised anymore but then I clicked this article and was incredibly shocked, her chin and her lips now aren't even balanced. Oh god, I just... this is just... this is just so sad.

saying sorry for not doing anything bad isn't not giving a fuck and he really isn't when he goes on tv and plays the same idol role everyone else does but alright
