I don't like the idea of female should be treated differently because they are female regardless of gender. should be treated like other guests. just like other anon said. that's true equality.
I can't conversate it anymore. I can't with mindset that female should defend other female because they are female
lol at the anon like you only think she wasn't in the wrong because you don't understand what went on properly
Keep rolling your eyes and enjoying your status as a second class citizen. It's upsetting honestly that you'd rather focus on so called unprofessionalism and not the underlying reason behind why this has even become an issue.
I really cannot at people with the job excuse. The idol industry is litered with problems and the fact that you're just talking about it as if this should just be accepted and that's it is just ridiculous.
I'm floored that a lesbian forum is really defending that show. You'd think an oppressed group would actually have some empathy.
x2 This is a serious issue, How can people not see that she is shamed because she is a female showing anger towards older males trying to slut shame her. She is attacked because she is a female failing to be 'perfect' for the viewers and korean standards of professionalism.
Sure professionalism is important in this industry regardless of gender but some of you calling 'boo-hoo' when some of us want to show you the bigger picture and the huge gap between how male idols are treated and how female idols are treated just doesn't sit right with me.
ok, i think i've finally reached my limit.
keep on going, anons, treat h@ra like a child.
male hosts shouldn't ask a female about her scandals on a scandal show because that's slut-shaming. because slut shaming=talking about her only controversy, which was dating-related.
she shouldn't get backlash for being unprofessional because expecting someone to be polite=perfectionist standards.
she shouldn't get in trouble for being rude because a male idol would've been treated better. because the solution here isn't to criticize the male idols more, it's to be irrationally nicer to the female ones and excuse them of bad behavior.
har@'s innocent because she's a woman and mcs shouldn't treat women like all their other guests. they should be nicer. either that or they're sexist older men.
it's like this board is tainted with some twisted pseudo-feminist-flavored misogyny.

Nobody is saying that the slut-shaming is acceptable, so idk where you're getting that from.

lol, thank you for pointing out that you didn't watch the show.
netizens called her an 'idol bus'. not the mcs.
it's a scandal show, so the mcs prepared their scripts to talk about her relationship. when she said she didn't want to, they joked that they would have to throw out a big part of their scripts because there's no other rumors/scandals that she's involved in. kyu_yun called her yeonae-dol which roughly translated as romance-dol. or is referring to the fact that her controversies are romance related slut shaming?

DA You need to re-read what anon said because you totally lost it
What a fucking idiot, how could she cry in front of them? That's absurd, ugh I'm so disgusted that she cried I'm actually offended and I hope they ban her for a while

Fuck me I never said all those that you implied here, you are so blinded you cannot even see the difference between the treatment of male and female idols at all probably not even regular males and females.
I never said the female rights should be raised above those of the males, that is not equality and sure it is right to be professional but all I am saying is that if you look (actually look) do you really not see the patriarchal conditions in the industry and everywhere else? I am not saying what H@ra did was polite but the comments about her and what's used to argue against her are itself sexist and no matter how the mc's said it slut shaming is slut shaming, they were shaming her for having a dating life (laughing about how 'long her book on dating will be') she knows herself what the viewers would think and the MC's knew too and the guy had to exaggerate and for that she was shamed and attacked for defending herself.
She shouldn't be babied but can you not see the blatant sexist conditions in k-pop? To be equal is to have started equal and women never were equal and always second class to men even to this day. The solution is not to treat the women irrationally better THAT is not what I meant at all but just look at the bigger picture it is the viewers that caused the most uproar, the solution is to slowly alleviate the pressure on women to become the 'perfect image that is created by the male dominated society, if she wasn't expected to act like that then there won't be an uproar. You may argue that men get the same treatment, they have expectations but it's not the same not at all, they had the rights and choices all along and are encouraged to speak out. In the idol world the male idols are exceptionally more popular because of who? females, of whom are encouraged to want the ideal that is the male idols, they are encouraged to find their prince charming to protect them it is something they were taught to do and what most girls are taught to think like from a very young age yet female idols are sold as the weaker counterpart of whom should be delicate, polite, proper..etc..they're very different expectations you see. I could go on about blatant patriarchal orders but what you believe to feminism (females should be babied) is just so deluded. We just want equality and that is not taking away anyone's rights but merely giving females the rights that are missing that separates females from males.
This incident is just a tiny part of what is wrong with the k-industry and well... modern entertainment. H@ra would have been better off acting professional but her outburst I doubt wasn't for nothing, females do not act the victims, they have no choice and that is sad.

Speak for youself and reread what that anon said.
I think you should be the one to do that. The Anon was speaking specifically about the events within the show, and not the netizen reaction, which I think we can all agree on as being unfair.
sa even the cast of the show is trying to help salvage their image asking the public to blame them.
"I think that their tears were the most honest response.. We were being harsh like we always are.. so if one was to get cursed at, we should be the ones to get it.. Not everyone can respond to our questions with wit and laughter.. They were probably things that the members had a hard time with while experiencing.. So as one of the ones who took the most active role, it is my fault.. I'm sorry ^^"
Well good but lol if they ever meant for people to respond with "wit and laughter" like that's the natural thing to do when your personal privacy is being invaded. The whole point is to get them to fuck up and say something headline grabbing right? Smh at these shows and how Korean/Japanese people actually find amusement in seeing people being uncomfortable.
tl;dr I feel bad for her. Who knows if she willingly came on this show (most likely not since she doesn't seem willing to talk about anything) but she shouldn't have been pressured and "teased" into talking about it. People use the argument that they're celebrities and they chose this so they shouldn't get any empathy but I personally disagree. They knew what it was when they signed up for it but that doesn't make the public's perceived ownership of them right.

Yoon Jong Shin then joked, "That's way too broad. We'll just take out one person," to which Hara exploded, "I don't have any! Why do you keep doing that to me?". Yoon Jong Shin answered, "It's because if we take out the 'dating' category when we talk to girl groups, then we can't talk about a bulk of things."
The conversation continued toward the point where Kyuhy_n said, "If I open my mouth, Hara will be over." Hara exploded, burst up and said, "What do you mean, I'll be over?! You can't be 100% confident, either!". Hara got so emotional that she started tearing up, and Kyuhy_n said, "I was just joking!". Hara, however, started crying, and said, "I'm really angry."
what's the point posting English translation? you should just post video that they speak Korean. in my opinion, as can understand Korean. It's just a joking

da so you're saying there's no translation from korean to english? like korean is untranslatable language? a language so different and unique in the whole universe that only born and bread koreans can understand it?
there are things that get lost in translation and also cultural differences. for example most anons were furious with the end you comment but to koreans it's a common, harmless joke.
that's just an example and there's plenty more you wouldn't understand unless you're korean. it's not patronizing, it's just reality just like there are things in the english language and culture that non native speakers wouldn't understand.

oh alright I've heard that koreans don't really use sarcasm and that they don't really get it, is it true? they might take it seriously and things like that
interesting though I never really see sarcasm used for humour on k-tv shows
I wonder if some k-anons get lost sometimes here because I see a lot of sarcasm thrown around

jessica's sarcasm on radiostar '대다나다(you are great)' was most popular sarcasm on internet

IA with you, it gives you important cues and context. I watched the eng subbed video and it was obvious that the MCs were joking. But it was also obvious that it was making the girls uncomfortable (whether you decide they're being sensitive is another matter). I find this typical of some guys, where they make an unfunny joke (or one intended to poke fun at you) and either are not emotionally intelligent enough to realise that you're not cool with it or they just don't care. Plus, if they're close friends, H@ra probably feels a little betrayed. It's not a pleasant situation and that people get paid to be obnoxious (and that they would want to do this for a living bewilders me) but then it's obvious that I take issue with the entire premise of these shows.
