Oh. Well, I like that post you made, anyway. The fanfic thread seems a bit different from the main thread. I mean, the people who visit there. |

How so? Is this OT for this thread or do discussion about the forum itself also belong here I wonder. Also I would like to take the time to laugh at the fact the anon who was complaining about juveniles invading and "vocabulary shortcomings" had so many in her post. If you are going to complain about something like that, better not make mistakes in the same post. |

Well, I mean. Someone just asked about why we censor authors' names and whether or not "the happy place" is Sushified. Isn't that kind of thing basic courtesy here, for obvious reasons? |

Clearly this site has gotten linked recently; we had a sizeable increase in people about a week or two back, apparently there are new people on the fanfic thread and just yesterday I think someone linked this place on TLC again. If anyone had any hopes of this forum being our little "refuge", they had best get acquainted with the idea of the same changes that were part of TLC happening here again. |

Is it wrong for me to feel a little sad about that? I mean, I haven't been here that long myself, and I'm pretty young as well, so I might be a part of that changing demographic, but... I still feel a slight disappointment when I see Anons asking what "DA" or some other common forum acronym means.

da I posted about the banner, I kinda wanted to say that as long as they're not male/straight it's all good, but on the other hand it's not like we run tests and checks, the occasional would you dive in yes, but that's about it, so we can't tell anyway. sometimes might be possible to see the poster's gender through their posts but it's always gonna be a bit of a stretch. and whatever ends up being done or not done, we can't really keep anybody away whatever their gender is, if they wanna stay they stay etc. so well just something you have to deal with at the end of the day, and that's all |

What? Do you mean me dealing with male/straight people, or did you mean to quote someone else? |

I'm not talking to you or about you sorry, it's the general "you" ie "it's something everybody has to deal with" |

Not at all, considering those of us who have been in the thread the longest saw it get linked many times and each time things got worse. There was a time when everyone would pagecatch because it was worth it and then people just stopped; they didn't want to deal with the assumed wank/general stupidity that had happened before they got back to the thread. Just pages and pages filled with almost no substance to the point the spazzing was more substantial than any attempt at discussions. Don't even get me started on all the fights that erupted because they didn't like/understand TLC humor and because they knew so little about SNSD (in comparison to longer time fans) their comments would rub most the wrong way. Ugh, I see that happening here already. |

Maybe we should start having more random talks about lesbian love making to scare the straight girls away and menstruation talks to scare the men. I agree with you, banner anon. TLC was obviously a gay place, you just needed to step out of our thread and check the surroundings. It may not be so obvious here, even though it says gay on the banner, people might think it's for shipping purposes and not realize it's a place for gay women. Not sure if there's a solution to this other than us gay ladies trying to keep it gay (not the "all the SNSD girls are gay" delulu stuff) as much as possible so new users get a sense of who we are and what this forum is about right from the start. |

da I agree with you 100000000000%! this place is for gay people, if people happen to think that one or more of the girls are gay or not it's just a bonus I always considered TLC as a lesbian board so a snsd thread there was obviously oriented towards lesbian and bisexuals who enjoy snsd more than having random talks about menstruation lol, we should just encourage discussion, if straight bitches want to stay here, then deal with our rainbows and respect this place, now if you talk about guys here, that's just fucking creepy, I prefer not to know, but if they're here damn that's creepy and it's not like we have control over who comes here anyways I agree with the banner change, to make it so damn gay that when you open it it makes you come out again and again and again

I get dissapointed with those anons too, not because they're new, but because how easy it is to just go look it up for yourself what DA means

I try to never ask about stuff on forums. If I don't know, I Google, and if Google says nothing, I try and figure out what it means by looking at the context in which people use it. |

This is the worry I'm having about possible change to be honest. Not everyone on this board wants to come out by having someone look over their shoulder. The word 'gay' grabs less attention somehow. Having 'lesbian' there may increase levels of anxiety and worry for some girls browsing the forum. Sad thing is men are much less likely to be affected by such a change. Also quite a number of people simply prefer the G term over the L one. I happen to be one of them for example. I don't put too much importance into words, so I'm not against the change that much. I just believe we need more opinions on this before doing anything. And new people join us all the time. It's a healthy tendency for a forum. Some of them may end up being posters you come here for in near future. We all arrived clueless at some point. We could make a FAQ probably to avoid some questions being asked over and over and to make newcomers more aware of the values of this place. As for men and straighties, I may be a bit old fashioned here since I got to meet my internet pre-facebook and other sites that made people have faces, I don't really care what they are as far as they try to blend in and play by the rules of this community. We are sharing a forum, not a bed. |

DA Would it be possible to create a theme without the banner? Set the default as a gay one but when you visit the board the 2nd time, you can choose a theme that doesn't out you. |

Yes, of course it's possible. It's a great idea actually, anon. Fragmentation aspect bothers me a little as even now I have to think if it's 3 or 4 themes that we are going to have now and next choice will be between 4, 8 and anything in between. But I do believe it's worth it in this case. I'll add one soon. |

I think it's great to have a no banner option because god knows how many times I've scrolled down when someone comes near hoping they didn't see the giant SOGAYSHIDAE and then hope I don't land the scroll in one of the pervy posts. Bu, it would be awesome if in the future the no-gay outing banner is available for the ye olde style forum theme aka Welcome MF and not just the new 'Clean' baby. |

Alright. Now we have 4. I have adjusted names a bit to avoid the confusion. Brity's authorship on the banner was moved to the copyright section on the very bottom of the page. It belonged there anyway. I've done it this time because privacy, safety and comfort aren't things to joke with. This is something I believe everyone on this forum should have regardless of their taste in themes. I really count on your understanding if I have to say 'No' on similar request sometime in the future though. I'd really love to let each single one of you here to have things exactly how you want them but it's simply not possible. If I create a 'use this particular theme and want the change / use this particular theme and don't want the change' fork for every change I make, that would be multiplying the number of themes by 2 each single time. And you know the power of multiplying by 2, don't you? It only takes 42 folds for the thin sheet of paper to touch the Moon. I'll have to make choices and since users of 'Welcome Mofos' tend to prefer things being left as they are and because 'Clean Mofo' is the default theme at the moment, I will more often than not prioritize the latter. |

I don't see the point in worrying about things we cannot control and will never have real knowledge about. We probably have some men and straighties just like we did back at TLC, it's not like they got magically left behind. But we could also have psychos, murderers, terrorists, stalkers*, pedos, etc. This place isn't going to be magically populated with the best things on Earth just because. As long as their don't break the rules bringing wank, trolling ans disallowed straight themes then why worry. Like XYZ I prefer the term gay, it's much more all encompassing for LBGT people than lesbian which would leave out bi women and other gay but not lesbian women. Unless we plan to perpetuate TLC's bi-phobia I would just keep it gay. *Pretty sure we have really creepy people considering how some are so flippant about invading idol's personal business |

Thank you for the change and I agree. Only reason I asked is because essentialy we have two themes and this is a privacy matter so users of both themes should enjoy the same protection. |

male dominance in fanfic thread is escalating, first one of them assumes Artie a he, then assratus, and with his arrival you wanna bet there's gonna be a follow up wave of trolls? in fact my instinct tells me it's already started happening a few fanfic thread pages back. and if they can't convert the fanfic thread into an official assratus internet worship shrine now it's only gonna get worse I just don't feel like I'm in the right place anymore, tough luck right |
