looked like a native speaker to me, male will assume you're male too

I'm abandoning the sinking ship, not like anybody gonna miss me at least I know exactly who won't lol :bye:
It doesn't make sense to use "he" at all, considering the target demographic of this forum. :'(

they don't even have to say they are male
I've seen plenty of weird comments since tlc days, something that can only come out from straighties or males
I'm surprised you are all annoyed by this now, it's been obvious for a long time

See, I don't mind if they're male or whatever, as long as they don't start anything and at least try to respect the fact that this forum is geared towards gays, but... I'm just curious. We talked about fanfic back on TLC, so why the sudden influx of writers? Is Fulano linking like shit lately?

if people don't know and don't bother to search what does "da" means or try to understand how this forum works, I feel like they won't even realise that this thread is for gays and since now it's the trend for some straight stans to "go gay for someone" ... :nails:

@ arti: just fyi, you censor a name because you don't want people to find this place while googling things, not to prevent the writer from finding this place. (referring to your post on ff thread) not that i saw a need to censor anything in the fanfic thread but i guess we should now.

pretty sure most of these writers alr knew of lchat's existence before but nobody used to surface much cos errone would go 'PLEASE UPDATEEEEEEE' or cos 99% of the population used to be totally against males showing up (reg or not). they're probably starting to post cos the fanfic thread feels like a information/discussion thread for everyone (girl/guy/gay/straight/whatever) to post on. lack of a gay element there i think.

Arti, you're no man. You're all woman. :gaypimp:

Anyways, I've been following TLC since part 3. I definitely lurk on all the forums, I'm just more vocal in the ff section. (And I enjoyed the selca party on the OT thread :shifty: ) Hopefully, my gay shines through. Gay lady/author here!

I second random talks of menstruation. That sounds like a healthy/hilarious discussion.

Oh, you... :$

I think we should all have a specific day of a month where we all just spontaneously devolve into discussion about menstruation. Someone would start it thusly: GUYS THERE IS A BLOODY MASSACRE IN MY PANTS RN MY OVARIES WONT STOP LEAKING

And then we should all take part, like healthy group activity to build our bond as a community. :grouphug:

I don't know much about Zetaboard's features but with other forum providers there is an option of putting announcements that always appear below the banner and above the forum section you are viewing. You create a thread and then put the notice if it can be done in this forum it's worth a shot.
There is no such option in ZB Admin panel as far as I know but it is possible through writing custom code. In fact I have one of those written down and tested already.

I do have very conflicting feelings about the idea itself though. It's been how long ago that some of us risked a ban on TLC to let other anons know about the place and now you are suggesting exactly the opposite. Of course we could make this place locked and secure but is this what a forum is supposed to be? We all came here at some point. Why you finding this community from somewhere was alright and other possible newcomers should all be treated as potential invaders? There's just something wrong about it.

I know you are worried about trolls but that's what mods are here for.

I noticed that the "Anonymous" tag for the users who clicked the "hide my online status" option changed to "Invisible". I didn't see any other changes, so I presume there are none.

Hm, there were no adjustments made to the 'Welcome MoFos' theme as far as I remember. It looks the way it always did for me. Could you give me a screenshot, so I can look into it?

The banner for the 'Clean Mofo' has become smaller indeed.

hey
can someone explain to me why when I change the theme to no banner, after a while, it randomly changes back to the theme WITH banner? :'(

Hm, it sounds like a cookies issue. The default theme on this board has banner on. When you pick another theme, your choice is stored in your browser cookie. Seems it expires after a while for some reason. It could be something with the way your browser is set up, a ZB setting or a ZB bug. I'll make sure to look into it and exclude option number 2 at least.

What browser are you using btw?

It is not just the trolls though they are good enough reason for pause. While I agree this is a forum and new blood generally should be welcomed I have to state that not all new blood is good. Let's just imagine that someone decides to link this forum in that infamous pedo section of 4chan or some other place far removed from this forum's target audience? I feel, or more than feel, know every user of this forum has the responsibility to help with its well-being and this includes being mindful of where they share the link. Everyone should be aware because indiscriminate linking leads to more indiscriminate linking. This situation is nothing like trying to link this place on TLC when it was created.

It's not just some new blood that's bad, some old blood is not that good either. But people deal with such things all the time. You don't lock yourself in your room just because there are dangerous people out there, you still connect to the Internet despite it being full of assholes. Self-isolation is not the answer. You have to be careful, you don't go to particularly dangerous places but you don't just lock yourself in. That would be a life not worth holding onto.

4chan would be a terrible place to post the link and posting it would obviously come from ill intent. It's pretty much anti-audience for us. But people freak out when links get posted on lchat's SNSD thread out of all places. If that's not our audience, I don't know what is. For every troll you keep out, you keep out a hundred gay ladies with an interest in SNSD. I don't encourage people to go and post there but it's very strange to get so upset when it's done.

By the way, I could use some input, girls. As you know, I've replaced 'Anonymous' with 'Invisible' earlier today, as original term was not very descriptive and caused a lot of confusion.

But we don't ever call guests 'Guests' either. Pretty much everyone refers them as 'anons'. Should that one be changed to 'Anons', 'Anonymous' or would it be too confusing? Does anyone have better ideas may be? Or should it just be left as it is?

if you made the first change to improve consistency and communication then this one follows naturally. but you know people hate change by nature so you might end up having to change it back lol

That's up to you. I don't mind either way.

Thanks for offering all of these improvements, though. I don't know the slightest thing about programming and it all looks pretty difficult, so I appreciate the time and effort gone into it. :drink:

I have changed it to 'Anon' for now. Would prefer 'Anonymous' myself but it could cause extra confusion with it being used for something else just a day ago, I'm afraid. This is still open for feedback and suggestions, so let me know if it feels wrong for some reason. Also let me know if you spot a 'guest' magically turn 'anon' someone else. That would be a bug.

I wonder if someone remembers why and how that dropdown list with % appeared near the Login/Register. Was it a request and does anyone use it? Because previous admins obviously went through trouble getting it up there and I still can't figure out why. Taengoo / stepHo, if you are reading this as anons, please give me a clue.

The last two time someone posted the link on TLC we got trolls, so yeah there might be some capture of a target audience or maybe not because the target audience there was is already here, chances are it'll probably be randoms or the trolls which are in full force over there. At least to me it’s not the best of places anymore but this wasn't about TLC anyways. I don't see the similarity to what I was describing and your examples, I'm not the only one thinking it could be good to remind people to just think before they post the link to this site somewhere else. It's not about classicism or discrimination or isolation, it’s the fact that if we keep getting linked like it feels we are getting linked soon we may find ourselves filled with users far removed from the target and the clashes that will result won't be solved just because we have mods. A simple reminder wouldn't be an imposition on us, it's just a reminder, you aren't forcing anyone. It's just an idea but I think it has merit.

Anon#730,
you can take an idea and do awesome things with it, you can take same idea, take it to extremes and see it work against humanity. There are a lot of possible positions on this scale and chances are we are looking at different ones as we speak. For this reason I don't think talking about idea in general would be of any use. We'd have to be much more precise if we hope to reach any kind of agreement.

It's really not a bad idea to ask a person to consider the kind of people that tend to come to the place she's posting a link at and think of all the good or bad things they can possibly do to the forum.

But it's not the same with trashing any linking in general and looking down at people who do that. I'm not saying that you in particular think or act that way but I more than once saw people here and back on lchat demonstrate hints of 'Ok, I'm in. Hurry, close the door now' mentality. This is something I disagree with and I would think twice before encouraging it.

As for things you actually wrote, I don't quite agree with the idea that a place with 100 perfectly fine people and 1 troll is worthless. That troll will always come of course. This is what trolls do. But so will 100 other people. And maybe 20 of them will be no worse than what we currently have. And maybe 1-2 of them will be absolutely awesome and worth suffering 5 trolls, that aren't that big of a problem anyway if you don't give them attention. I'm not saying that all places are going to be this fruitful. Not at all. In fact I believe most of them will bring more trouble than profit. But a troll or two being there is really not that much of an indication. There should be a different criteria.

This above is just my opinion though. It has nothing to do with what I will or not do. I'm a technical admin atm and I'm not going to claim more power than this position allows. Talk to actual mods/admins, come up with solution together and I'll gladly help you implement that.
