One of the options you could vote for was having no spam cleaners at all though, so technically 'a pre-Janitor having vote' did happen. We just didn't make you come through 3 separate votes one after another and merged them into one for everyone's convenience. |

That's true, technically we did, but in most other cases this would be the final stage, the voting; we would've have a yes/no to the idea of janitors in most other cases. But what matters is we all voted for these Trollbusters to exist to do one thing and one thing only, hide clear pic troll posts. Not saying their narrow job description guarantees perfection but any step out of bounds would be that much more glaring so there shouldn't be too much to fear in that respect. |

Hm, but this voting did allow you to vote against the idea of janitors. This is what 'No janitors please' option was for. In fact one anon chose it and so she did not have to cast votes regarding candidates and titles. Was this option to get more positive than negatives, all other votes would be rendered useless and whole idea would be put to rest. This was stated clearly in the original post of that voting thread. Agree with the rest of your message though. This position is harmless and I wouldn't lose sleep even if worst of my enemies was to get it. I do believe that all people chosen are at the very least sane. |

Hai gays, we have received a couple entries regarding the banner contest, however they are not gonna work as a banner because of the technical requirements we did not make clear enough, we sincerely apologize for that. Since our main goal here is to get us all a banner that works, we would like to give this contest more time so you guys can adjust your entries or submit completely new ones if you wish. Everyone who hasn't met our previous deadline is also welcome to give it a try. You have 2 more weeks starting now! So the new deadline is due to September 26!
Important: In order for the banner to work on bigger screens, it needs to have sides that do not end abruptly. You can achieve it in one of the following ways:
Take this new deadline to make new adjustments to your work, or you could give it a fresh start, whatever you feel like! If you have any questions, feel free to contact us and we will answer as fast as we can. Please try your best and keep it up bishes! |

We did get few entries on the first try but they need to be brought to standards that would make them usable as an actual banner. Right now neither of them would look well on big screens. And we may end up using Brity's banner even if a lot of people apply. Why not? -) Users will pick what they like best. |

Nope. It is the massive spams and quotes of big gifs and flash. Mods, you should remind people of this forum the proper etiquette and rules we have about image posting, for all our sakes. |

SA When flash resizing was done here I didn't like the idea for this exact reason, the resizing of images/flash gives the erroneous and damaging idea that the images and flash will be faster to load/aren't cumbersome. But they still are, they have the same bytes and when before people would take out img and flash tags when quoting now less and less do so increasing lag. Mix that with the fact many of these gifs are large gifs and you have a recipe for disaster for many anons. So bitches need to be reminded of good posting and quoting manners pronto. |

I've been having the same problem as well and it has nothing to do with the gifs or images like the other anon just stated. Might be something to do with Zetaboards, even though I have the problem more often when I go to http://sogayshidae.com/index/ instead of http://w11.zetaboards.com/sogayshidae/index/. Only happened like 4 or 5 times so it doesn't really matter, just felt like pointing out that I have the same problem as well sometimes. |

How come while big sized gifs gave me living hell of lagging, videos/flashes never seemed to slow my computer down whatsoever? Seriously, they NEVER lag my computer (if I don't click on them ofc). Is it just me or videos don't really lag your page? |

I don't know enough about these things to give you a proper answer anon, sorry. All we can do is remind people to be considerate to others, but tbqh I don't think many will care.

Um, make them care? @anon Embedding videos does lag the page if its quoted many times, most pages don't suffer that much but when many big gifs and videos are posted and quoted makes for a lethal combo. But its not just one or two videos, its a page full of them which has happened a couple times that I can remember and the lag was bad. |

Well that'd be nice and all, but unfortunately that's not actually possible. About the lag issue, don't really have an opinion on it aside from "let's wait for Val to show up and talk tech"; if it turns out that spoilering things will help fix the problem, then we can try to enforce it - and give people legitimate reasons as to why it's for the best - but in reality, the likelihood of people remembering each and every time is quite low. Speaking generally, you can repeat things, make good points, and yell until you're blue in the face, but that doesn't always change someone's mind; you can't just make someone care about something. |

This forum will never be slow connection friendly, I'm afraid. We post very few text and a lot of media. This is this board's nature and it won't be going anywhere any time soon. We suggested trying to lessen the load by displaying smaller amount of posts on the page, if you remember, but this idea has hit the wall and his is something we'll have to live with now, because otherwise links to pages our Editors have collected will stop leading where they are supposed to lead. 'SGSD Feed' thread had it worst actually. Since there is a lot of media posted there and nothing is ever repeated, the load got so high that some code just stopped working entirely and we had to redo the thread from scratch, greatly reducing the amount of information each post was allowed to have. Getting Editors to have some kind of strategy is much easier than getting regular posters to do same though. We all have different connections, computers, habits and ideas on what's right and what's wrong. For example some people bitch when a user posts images each in their own post as opposed to throwing them all into one and spoilering. 1 image per post makes you see more of them, makes you load same amount of traffic but distributes it over several pages equally making each page easier to load by itself. Which way is better? Depends on one's priorities. If you are on slow connection yet enjoy seeing all the pictures, your answer will be very different from the one of a user on fast connection who does not care for pictures that much. And then you have all those people in between. Editing tags out is also something people may view differently. It's a hassle to do for some, some worry they'll get it wrong, some want others to see what they are reacting on instead of a generic looking link, some prefer to see what others react on without having to clink links all the time. I don't think there is one right way that should be forced on everyone. We could make a rule of course and that could possibly save some people a bit of frustration but it could cause a lot of frustration to everyone else. As much as I'm an order and simplicity freak myself, I just don't think that convenience of use and fun are things to thoughtlessly sacrifice. The only sure way to solve GIF relates issues is to stop posting GIFs, really. Neither spoilering, nor editing tags out can do much in this department. GIFs are an ancient and heavy format. They weight more than a video containing same information would, yet most people do not realize the size of things they link to, treating them as pictures that just happen to move. It gets worse if the server hosting this GIF is slow or is located really far from the user (like Korean hosting sites are for a lot of us). Such GIFs may take a while to load even when your connection is fast. To add to the offense, GIFs have this ugly habit of playing before being fully loaded. They play the frames as they get downloaded which creates impression of lag even if technically there is none. But once the beast is downloaded (and it will spoiler or not), you can quote it more or less safely. No extra data gets downloaded. Performance-wise, really old and weak computers may hit their CPU and memory limits but once again new GIFs will be much bigger problem for them than the ones already loaded. With Flash videos it's a bit more complicated. There is not that much data downloaded there but downloading and rendering may take some time. Since this doesn't stop other elements on the page from loading, few videos per page should not be that much of a deal. Few dozens can cause a problem though, mostly due to amount of requests to external server a browser would have to make. I personally believe people should quote less in general. When you reply to someone's remark there's hardly a reason to quote that picture and video they quoted before that, they are not even relevant most of the time. I do not think long ass post should be quoted just to reply to 1 sentence from it. And cutting out a link to a video definitely doesn't harm when it has been posted several times already. But all these things are a matter of common courtesy rather than rules, imho. These things are not critical and people should have space for making their own choices and feeling good about them. There is no satisfaction in doing what you were told to do. There are other ways to make pages lighter for people, by the way. For example not using GIF avatars in sizes bigger than they have to be or not having GIFs in signatures, since few people click on those spoilers but every reg has to load them. One may avoid posting huge reaction gifs in places where using text or saying nothing would do just fine. There are many choices each of us can make and the good thing is, while you can't tell others to do it, doing it alone still does have an effect. One picture less is still a lighter page. Anons and regs suffering from lag and slow load times, here are things you can try:

As of now, Zetaboards is not mobile friendly. As far as I know, it does not work with Tapatalk, have separate mobile app or zeta-made mobile theme. I've heard that was work in progress but no ETA is given. There is a theme a member of community came up with though. It uses a lot of javascript to re-arrange and hide elements on the page to make them fit screens of mobile devices better. It doesn't make the site any lighter but it does make it look more compact. I've made some adjustments to that theme and added it to the picker on the bottom of the site under the name 'Mobile Mofo'. You may play with it and see if it works better for you. I can not guarantee that it will work 100% well unfortunately. In fact I've noticed at least one bug here: if you are trying to switch from Mobile to another theme while being inside a thread, you may experience a glitch – it will not switch unless you go to Index page. There it will work just fine. I'll try to see if we can get that fixed. Also it will not change automatically when you go from computer to your phone. You'll have to change it manually. I could make it automatic but I don't want to force people to use this theme on mobiles, they may prefer the original one. |

Trying out Mobile Mofo now. It's nice. There's a bit of wasted space on the borders, they take up a pretty high percentage width wise. Also the posting UI is stripped of all formatting and emoticon options. Pretty random. But it's still pretty nice. Gonna use it for now. Thanks for adding it. |

This was done because it would be hard to fit all the buttons in readable sizes, I guess. Author has just assumed that mobile posting is something one does on the fly and doesn't use complex formatting for. Plus those b, url, img, quote, spoiler tags etc aren't that hard to type in their text variants. It's worse with emoticons but for those you could try to use 'Fast Reply' form. Since those buttons aren't a part of original forum layout they remained in place. I wish I could do more but I'm really short on time atm, so we'll have to live with what we got for a while. |

Why don't you tell me where I'm allowed to post the link to the Blurb thread? As far as I can remember, linking to other forums isn't against the rules, and I don't see any reason it should be if it's posted in an appropriate forum. |
