GENIE sold 44,907 copies in the first week so it's not bad. And They're doing better than K@r@. their latest jap album sold only 40k after 3 weeks.

and cara promote a lot in japan. They're barely in korea anymore. They speak japanese 10000x better than soshi so our girls have nothing to worry about.

the most important thing is that the sales have been increasing since flower power. FP was a flop. Love & girls did good and GS is doing even better

it's a pity tho. FP is such a nice song :(

Also, FP got released like a week before the second japanese album (Girls & Peace)...that does not help. ^o)

Japan is not even about super, amazing songs. They enjoy easy songs that just sound nice. Girl groups in japan should have an electronic sound. P3rfume is one of their biggest groups in japan and snsd's 1st album reminded a lot of people of p3rfume's sound which they enjoyed a lot. Boy groups are more popular with a j-rock sound.

That was a bad move from sm. They expected japanese sones to buy like ksones. Buy no matter how bad the songs are. they relied on them too much and they failed. They 2nd album was not bad but compared to the 1st one it was "flat".

To compare soshi#s sales with j-pop stars. P3rfum3 is a really popular group in japan and their latest single sold
"Magic of Love" — 66,094 copies in the first week. 78,136 copies in total.

So our girls are doing well and sm can be pleased with their sales.

actually i think p3rfume has some pretty complex sounding songs. i would have liked to seen y@sutaka n@kata produce some of snsd's songs, given that he didn't autotune their voices to the point where it sounded vocaloid-ish.

OMG yessssssss. He's a freaking legend. Awesome producer. He worked with cl@zziquai project that also have a heavy electronic-sound so I don't think he has any problems with korean groups.

Please work with our girls

I don't get why they think that european music is what asia enjoys. Japan likes electro and rock music. They should hire japanese producers for their japanese music. Period

maybe producers like mfl0 and y@sutaka n@kata charge even more $$$ than the songwriters sm are buying from.

Hot summer was one of the most disturbing songs for me. This song was UBER popular in 2007 so hearing that song in korean was weird...

anyways. SM needs to stop hiring swedish producers, writers etc. Nothing against sweden but I'm not into that disco-pop music. It just sounds corny and cheap

but the first album did well didn't it? it was pretty well liked and freaking great imo. But on the topic of this; i find it funny how Gee was produced by a korean producer. Now i'm not encouraging they go back to making music like gee but :hmmm:

it worked for genie (in terms of snsd) but they went downhill from there.

i don't why sm aims for a europop/western pop experience when kpop blew up big because of songs written by korean producers lol (eg. gee, nob0dy.)
