--Four Liverpool players featured for England on Sunday evening as Roy Hodgson's team maintained their 100 per cent record in Euro 2016 qualifying by narrowly overcoming Estonia 1-0.

Reds midfield duo Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana were named from the start in Tallinn, where the Three Lions were made to work hard for their third consecutive victory in Group E.

Though it was the travellers who largely dominated possession, passing and probing to seek openings, the hosts were by no means overwhelmed and threatened on the counter-attack.

The score was goalless at half-time, prompting England to up the tempo in the second half - including the introduction of Raheem Sterling for Anfield colleague Henderson on 64 minutes.

Shortly after, Hodgson's charges grabbed the winning goal; captain Wayne Rooney stood over an inviting set-piece slightly left of centre and whipped the ball into the corner despite the fingertips of Estonia goalkeeper Sergei Pareiko.

Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert took to the field on 80 minutes, replacing Danny Welbeck, and the visitors safely preserved the result for the remainder to make it nine points out of nine on the road to France.

Just read that Raheem Sterling asked to 'sit out' this one and that's why he was used as a sub. Not had a chance to follow the England games recently, but if a young player asks to be rested then i don't think he should be used as a sub he should be respected for asking and actually given a rest. I aint no fan of Roy Hodgson, never was, even his small stint as Liverpool manager he made me cringe.
"Is that a cigarette your smoking Lister?" - "No, Its a Chicken!!"
