MATCH FACTS Head-to-head -Aston Villa's only home win in the last 16 attempts against Liverpool in the Premier League came in May 2011 (W1, D5, L10). The home side have mustered only seven goals in that time and last scored more than once in a 4-2 defeat in November 1998. -Liverpool have won their last three Premier League visits to Villa Park. They have never won four consecutive top-flight matches at Aston Villa. Aston Villa -Villa are winless in six league games, the worst current run in the division. They have scored one goal and had four players sent off during that spell. -They have only won two of 17 league matches since mid-September (W2, D6, L9). -Paul Lambert's side have played for seven hours and 12 minutes since scoring in the Premier League (Christian Benteke's strike against Manchester United on 20 December). -Their total of 11 goals from 21 games is the third lowest in top-flight history; Derby had 10 goals at the same stage in 2007-08, while Leicester scored eight times in 1977-78. -They have only averaged a point per game from their last 63 league fixtures at Villa Park, winning just 15 times (W15, D18, L30). -Benteke has only scored twice in his last 13 league appearances but he has registered four goals in as many games against Liverpool. Liverpool -The Reds have lost just one of their last nine Premier League fixtures (W5, D3, L1). -They have won successive top-flight away matches by a 1-0 scoreline. Liverpool are yet to win three Premier League away games in a row this season. -Brendan Rodgers' side and QPR are the only two teams not to have drawn a Premier League away game this season. -They have gone 65 Premier League games without defeat after leading at half-time (W54, D11). -Steven Gerrard has scored 12 Premier League goals against Aston Villa, more than any other side in his career. |
