GREAT SAVE!
Bolton 0-0 Liverpool

Chance! Great counter from Liverpool frees Raheem Sterling to run at David Wheater, which ends in predictable circumstance. Sterling glides past the centre-back and get a shot off but Andy Lonergan keeps it out, gathering the loose change too from in front of a red shirt.

...from the BBC's Twitter feed...
-Jon Pace: A defender going up front to do a 'job' just strikes me as pub team!
-Andy Marshall: Anyone else hope that Gerrard scores and gets us through? Would be a brilliant 700th game for him!
-Matt Shannon: Looks like the Bolton defence are wanting to swap shirts with Sterling already.

--Steven Gerrard's new boots to mark his 700th game for the Reds. I'm assured he doesn't actually have a new pair for every single game - that would be a nightmare wouldn't it? They never fit too well fresh out of the box.
...all I hope for there is for there to be a goal connecting off of those boots...

"Liverpool haven't been convincing this season from set pieces. Bolton threw all their big men forward and it was a good opportunity for David Wheater."

...from the BBC's Twitter feed....
-Andy in Manchester: Philippe Coutinho is as good as anyone in the Premier League on current form. Just needs to add goals to become the finished article.
-Ludo in Oxford: I would be amazed, even against Bolton, if Joe Allen can do anything useful. We will miss Lucas tonight.
...wait: little Joe started tonight? whistle1

One of the worst shots you will ever see! Dorian Dervite - a centre-back by trade - winds up for a first-time thumper from all of 30 yards, there is a collective 'Don't do it!' in the stands but he takes it on anyway and the Bolton defender drags it, out for a throw on the far side.
It was such a bad strike it nearly turned into a good crossfield pass.

"Emre Can is so comfortable on the ball. He sets up most of Liverpool's attacks these days. I don't think he will continue in the back three as he's not a great defender. I think he certainly has the potential to be a long term replacement for Steven Gerrard."

"They worked it really well from the left-hand side. It was such an intelligent turn from Adam Lallana and Dorian Dervite just stood too far off Raheem Sterling. The keeper was beaten."

BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at Macron Stadium
Quote:

"Bolton manager Neil Lennon will be reasonably satisfied with the opening half-hour - although Raheem Sterling came so close with that shot against the post. The Championship side look like they might get some joy against Liverpool in the air at set pieces but Liverpool have also got such pace on the break that Bolton simply cannot over-commit."

Daniel Sturridge gets a warm reception from both fans as he warms up, the natives recall his fine loan spell here a few years back. David Wheater then continues his fine start with a Bobby Moore-esque challenge to cut Philippe Coutinho's mazy run off.

-Patrick Zagar: I think Phil Coutinho successfully dribbles past about 8,564 people a game with ease.
-Mary Clarke: I want another FA Cup upset tonight. Come on Bolton!
-LFC Way: There's a real confidence about Simon Mignolet now! Pleasing to see.

"Brilliant turn and ball from Philippe Coutinho with the outside of his boot. He is really playing well. He spins away from the Bolton challenges so easily. The only way they can stop him is by fouling him."
