--Having locked down Philippe Coutinho to a new long-term deal, Liverpool’s attention has now turned to doing the same for Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling. With, respectively, one and two more seasons remaining on their current contracts, it’s key the club secure both before too much longer. Another name to add to that list now is Jordon Ibe, as the Express believe he’s also in line for a new long-term deal.

The young winger’s current contract runs through the 2017 season, the same as Sterling’s, which gives Liverpool a bit of breathing room but not much. Especially if Ibe continues to impress on the right and sees his value skyrocket. Ibe has impressed since returning from a loan spell with Derby County in January, and with Lazar Markovic suspended there is little doubt he will start at right wingback tonight against Besiktas.

Ibe’s long-term future likely lies further up the pitch, but the flexibility both he and Markovic have shown covering the wingback position has added another wrinkle to Brendan Rodgers’ new-look Liverpool side. And his Ibe’s performances there have been enough to put him in the conversation for an early England call-up. Even if one doesn’t arrive, he’s now expected to play a major role in this summer’s U21 Euros.

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.' - Bill Shankly, Liverpool F.C.
