should be a walk over but knowing us we make it hard but get a win biggrin
If there was one good thing for Liverpool last week, it was that we didn't allow an away goal from Besiktas; away goals are all-but-gold in two-legged ties...now if we can get an away goal today, that could help seal our advance into the Round of 16...

Besiktas v Liverpool (18:00 GMT)

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, speaking to ITV4: "It'll be a brilliant atmosphere. Our young players play at one of the most intimidating grounds in world football - Anfield. It's a great experience for them and I hope they'll cope. We have got a lot of games, but the selection has been more because of the injuries. We've a lot of players out injured, who haven't been able to travel. As you see on the team sheet, there are a lot of young players and we'll hope they'll benefit from the experience. We understand every game is difficult, but the players have been outstanding. We changed the way of playing around November time, but that's determined by the players and how they follow that. The team will be energetic tonight for sure. I said to the players that we have to be patient. In the opening 20 minutes, try to control the game and dominate the ball. If you can't do that, then you try to dominate without the ball."
Asked by commentator Sam Matterface if he has decided who will take a penalty if Liverpool get one: "Yes, you'll take it."

...we're now just minutes away from tonight's match at the Ataturk Stadium...10 years, Liverpool walked onto the pitch in Istanbul and 90 minutes later, were victors in one of the biggest football matches in history; while tonight's Europa League match might not carry quite the gravitas of that European night of nights, no one can deny the place that the Ataturk carries in international football....its' a nice night for some football....

...kickoff moments away from the Ataturk...

Besiktas make a lively start, roared on by a vociferous crowd. Kolo Toure almost gets caught on the ball but just about gets it out.

...glancing over at the other matches thus far.....
-Anderlecht 1, Dinamo Moscow 1 (Anderlecht would advance on away goals)
-ZSP 2, PSV Eindhoven 0 (ZSP would advance on aggregate)

....anyway, back to the match at hand....

Liverpool on the attack early; given how boisterous the crowd at the Ataturk is at the moment, an early Red goal could well shut the crowd up....

Mario Balotelli has already been pinged for two early fouls, are the hosts trying to wind him up? Liverpool fans will be pleased to see Mario laughing at the referee after his latest infringement. Keep calm and carry on.

Balotelli needs to calm down a bit
They're trying to wind him up, Teebag, get him off his game...unfortunately, with the yellow now, Balotelli's got to watch it a bit 'cause a second yellow suspends him for the next match (assuming that Liverpool advances into the Round of 16)

Forget what I said earlier, Mario Balotelli is going to get sent-off tonight. He's just been booked for a late lunge on the touchline. That's 80 minutes on a booking. I don't rate his chances.

....neither do I at the moment, but stranger things have happened...
