Hull City A.F.C. vs. Liverpool F.C.
28 April 2015 - 19:45 GMT (2:45pm US EDT) at the KC Stadium

Quote:

Liverpool return to action with a trip to the KC Stadium to face Hull City on Tuesday night.

The Reds will look to bounce back to winning ways after the goalless stalemate at West Brom, while the Tigers will be bouyed by their 2-0 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday - a result that bolstered their prospects of staving off relegation.

Earlier this season, the teams played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield, while Hull ran out 3-1 winners in last season's corresponding fixture.

I don't think Hull's going to park the bus, Macca...why? They're in the relegation fight; they have to win just to stay afloat; a draw or a loss does them no good whatsoever.

Quote:

Gary Ablett
--Liverpool-born Ablett made his way into the Reds' first team in 1987 - winning the league title in 1987-88 and the 1989-90 campaign. Before that, though, he'd played five games on loan at Hull City as he gained vital experience. He's the only man to win the FA Cup with both Liverpool and Everton. Sadly, Gary passed away on 1 January 2012 at the age of 46.

Nick Barmby
--Nick Barmby joined the Reds from city-rivals Everton in 2000, becoming the first player to move in that direction since Dave Hickson in 1959. A part of Gerard Houllier's treble winners in 2001, he then spent eight years at Hull City as they moved through the divisions from 2004 onwards.

Emlyn Hughes
--'Crazy Horse' is a Liverpool legend. He started out as a left-back after he signed from Blackpool in 1967 before moving into midfield in the side of the late 1960s. It was as an innovative centre-half alongside Phil Thompson that he became captain and a mainstay of the glorious sides of the 1970s. After leaving to become player manager at Rotherham, he had a brief spell at Hull in 1983.

John Otsemobor
--Jon Otsemobor joined Liverpool as a youngster in 2000, making his debut in the 3-1 League Cup win over Southampton in 2002 before being loaned out to Hull City. Despite impressing at the Tigers, scoring three goals in nine appearances, he never established himself in Rafa Benitez's Liverpool side and joined Rotherham in 2005.

Jack Hobbs
--Hobbs joined Liverpool from Lincoln City in 2005 and quickly earned a reputation as an impressive defensive prospect. He captained the reserves and made his full debut for the Reds against Cardiff City in the League Cup in October 2007. He left the club for Leicester City in 2008 before joining Hull City in 2011 and spending two years with the Tigers.

Some stats....

Liverpool have 13 wins, 5 draws and only 1 defeat, the defeat was back in 2013.

I like those stats and the fact Hull are fighting to stay in the league meaning they wont sit back and defend and will attack hopefully.

Manager Quotes
Brendan Rodgers
Liverpool
Liverpool travel to Hull this evening for a game that is key to both clubs in their respective battles to qualify for the Champions League and avoid relegation.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has had this to say: "Manchester United have a clear advantage [seven points having played a game more] but we can only affect that by winning our games. We need to do that starting at Hull. Man United play West Brom at the weekend and we've seen how difficult it is to play against Tony Pulis' team.

"We can only focus on ourselves. Last year showed that lots of changes can take place in the final five matches. We have a tough game away at Hull but the idea is to get the victory and apply as much pressure as we can to the teams above," he stressed.
Steve Bruce
Hull City
Hull boss Steve Bruce has had this to say about tonight's game with Liverpool: "You hope your home form can stack up and since Christmas it has. We've given ourselves a great chance but we're still right in the thick of it.

"When you play against a big team, you've got to defend well. We did that against pace against Palace, so let's hope for more of the same. I'm quietly confident, starting with Liverpool, we can get enough points at home to keep us up," he added.

Brendan Rodgers on Liverpool Fans Protest

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says he respects the rights of Reds supporters to protest against the £50 price of a ticket for tonight's Premier League match at Hull.

Rodgers said: "Like everything in modern football, I respect the supporters' right to protest. I don't know so much about it but supporters nowadays have to work very hard to get the money to go to football games."
Steve Bruce on Liverpool Protest

We've heard the views of Brendan Rodgers on tonight's £50 away ticket price for Hull City v Liverpool. Hull boss Steve Bruce has also expressed sympathy with those Liverpool fans feeling hard done by.

"I feel sorry for the supporters of big clubs who have to dig deep every week and I hope when the new TV money comes into play the Premier League can remember football does belong to supporters," said Bruce.

"I know how difficult it is for people here at our club to find the money to bring their two kids to a football match and we have to make sure with all the money washing around we give something back to the fans.

"We have to remember the average man in the street because they are the lifeblood of football and I think if the Premier League set certain rules we would all have to abide by them."

Breaking team news from the KC Stadium sees Liverpool do without Steven Gerrard for the night. He does not make the squad and Joe Allen's recall in his place is the Reds only change from their draw against West Brom on Saturday.

Hull are unchanged from their win at Palace and can keep consecutive clean sheets for the first time since October 2013 in the Premier League with a shut out tonight.

--Hull City XI: Harper, Chester, Huddlestone, Brady, Livermore, McShane, Dawson, Aluko, Elmohamady, N'Doye, Quinn.
--Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Can, Skrtel, Lovren, Johnson, Allen, Henderson, Ibe, Sterling, Coutinho, Balotelli.

--By the way, Happy Anniversary Liverpool fans. It is 25 years ago to the day that the Reds won the most recent of their 18 league titles.

The Daily Mail has worked out they have spent £770m since and signed 190 players. That 2-1 win over QPR must seem a long time ago now...

Former Scotland international Pat Nevin
BBC Radio 5 live at the KC Stadium
Quote:

"I just chatted to some of the journos downstairs. They were suggesting Steven Gerrard had a couple of twinges. It may well be just that. If you push it too far, the hamstring or calf could go. Obviously every Liverpool supporter would rather him play but if you're taking a chance it's probably not worth it."

"Brendan Rodgers says things sometimes which make me puzzled. To describe their performance at the Hawthorns as outstanding was puzzling. How was it? You lose Luis Suarez, in particular his goals and then you have Sturridge not playing nowhere near enough. Look at the selection tonight, Balotelli. Goodness things are desperate if they are relying on that mis-fit Italian."
