(SB Nation - The Liverpool Offside) By Dan Bernstein @danbernsteinUMD
--In the winter months a fair share of Liverpool fans expressed a desire for the club to bring a new goalkeeper to Anfield. This came about because of a perceived dip in form from Simon Mignolet that caused Brendan Rodgers to bench his first choice shot stopper in favor of Brad Jones during a key stretch of the season. Since then, Mignolet has not only reclaimed his place in Liverpool's starting eleven but also showed his ability to perform at a top class level.

Jones has had a less successful second half of the season, and the Liverpool Echo reports that he will likely leave the club this summer despite comments from Rodgers indicating that contract extension talks had taken place. He's filled the thankless role of backup goalkeeper well for Liverpool over his five years with the club, but ultimately he is a player who can be replaced (his hair is a different story of course).

If the former Middlesbrough goalkeeper opts to leave Anfield in search of more playing time it will mean that Liverpool need a new goalkeeper to at least back up Mignolet. However, it's not clear if that player would be someone who would actually challenge Mignolet for his starting job.
