Edited....once again, NBCSN is being an ass (which is to be expected given they have The Scum's Neil Ashton on for pre/post-match commentary most weeks)..... unsure1 unsure1

(BBC Sport) Who's buying dinner?

Posted Image
--Walter Mazzarri's Watford had started the season with just one point in three games - including two defeats - but have now bounced back in great style, first beating West Ham 4-2 and then turning over Manchester United.

"It is a very important three points to give my players the confidence to go ahead," Mazzarri said after Sunday's game. "I don't look too much at results but how we play. We have been improving dramatically."

As to his meeting with Mourinho, the Italian said: "We spoke before the game - even one day next week we can go out for dinner."

The Guardian: Guardiola Says Yaya Toure Will Not Play For City Until Agent Apologizes

Posted Image
Quote:

Pep Guardiola has said midfielder Yaya Touré will not play for Manchester City again until his agent apologises.

Touré has featured in only one game for his club this season, and was left out of the Champions League squad by the manager.

Dimitri Seluk, Touré’s agent, criticised that decision earlier this month, saying his the player had been humiliated and stating: “if City don’t win the Champions League then I hope that Pep has got the balls to say that he was wrong to humiliate a great player like Yaya.”

Guardiola said on Tuesday: “[Touré] must apologise to his team-mates, to the club. If he doesn’t, he won’t play.

“It was difficult to leave him out of the Champions League squad but [the] day after, his [agent] went to the media. [Touré] has not had the courage to call me. From that moment he was out. I know him, I know he’s a good good guy, but it was difficult for me as well to put Aleix Garcia out [of the Champions League squad].

“I cannot imagine in my period when I was a football player, my manager going to the media and speaking against Johan Cruyff, about this and about that. If he has a problem call the club, and they can talk, until he speaks, Yaya is not going to play.”

NBC Sports: Burnley’s Andre Gray given 4-game ban for homophobic Twitter posts from 2012

Posted Image
Quote:

Burnley striker Andre Gray has been handed a four-game ban by the English Football Association after a hearing over misconduct charges stemming from a series of homophobic Twitter posts from 2012.

Gray, now 25, was charged by the FA in August, three days after the posts were brought to light, the same day he scored his first PL goal in a 2-0 upset of Liverpool.

Said Burnley, on the club’s official site: Gray was found guilty of six aggravated breaches of FA Rule E3(1) regarding comments deemed to be “abusive and/or insulting and/or improper and/or bringing the game into disrepute”.

The breaches also included reference to an “aggravating factor”, namely, sexual orientation and/or gender and/or colour and/or race contrary to FA Rule E3(2).

Gray admitted three of the breaches, but denied a further three. However, following the Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, on Thursday, September 22, these three were found proven.

In the above linked statement, Burnley have said the club and the player accept the FA’s decision, and they will not appeal. Gray will also pay a fine of £25,000 ($32,000) and has been “ordered to attend a one-to-one FA education course.”

Gray came forth with a public apology the day he was charged by the FA, part of which read, “I have a lot of regrets regarding a number of things I’ve done in the past and realize I have made some big mistakes, none more so than these tweets, but I would like to stress that I’ve worked incredibly hard to completely transform my life since that time.”

NBC Sports: Vincent Kompany Injured Again; Timetable For Return Unknown

Posted Image
Quote:

Vincent Kompany is still a professional footballer, we can assure you. He almost certainly still plays for Manchester City, or so we’ve been led to believe.

The big Belgian center back has missed so much time due to injuries over the last few years, we certainly understand if you’ve found yourself wondering. After making just 14 Premier League appearances last season, Kompany finally returned to the first team, now under Pep Guardiola‘s direction, for Wednesday’s EFL Cup victory over Swansea City.

Everything seemed to have gone off without a hitch for Kompany, until he made a beeline for the locker room during second-half stoppage time, unbeknownst to Guardiola. The verdict: groin injury.

A few days later, all the club has said is that Kompany is undergoing treatment on the injury, and that a course for his return is not yet known. A timetable all too familiar in the case of Kompany, though one promising tidbit was also passed along: the latest injury is not related to last season’s calf injury, which was the main culprit for all those games he missed.

BBC Sport: Southampton Condemn West Ham To Fourth Straight Defeat

Posted Image
Quote:

Charlie Austin scored his fifth goal in four appearances as Southampton condemned West Ham to a fourth successive Premier League defeat.

Austin broke the deadlock in a cagey encounter with a side-foot finish following Ryan Bertrand's pull-back.

Dusan Tadic made it 2-0, collecting a pass from Austin and rounding Adrian before finding the empty net.

James Ward-Prowse's low finish ensured a dire West Ham remain without a league win at their new London Stadium home.

The Hammers had only one shot on target and did not force Saints keeper Fraser Forster into a proper save throughout the game, which drew to a close in a near deserted ground.

The facts are damning. The defeat means West Ham have lost five of their opening six games in a top-flight season for the first time in their history and are 18th in the table having conceded 16 goals already.

Southampton, meanwhile, have won four matches in a row in all competitions and are up to eighth.

NBC Sports: West Ham's Owners Release Statement On Team's Recent Woes

Posted Image
Quote:

West Ham United is off to its worst start in a Premier League season with five defeats from their opening six games.

All is not well at the London Stadium.

After being hammered 3-0 by Southampton on Sunday the joint-owners of the Hammers, David Gold and David Sullivan, have commented on the current slump on the pitch, as well as plenty of issues in their new home.

Since West Ham moved to the former stadium for the 2012 Olympics in London there have been plenty of issues with fans and stewards involved in ugly scenes as the row about standing at games continues.

There’s no real suggestion that Slaven Bilic‘s job is under immediate threat — after all, Bilic guided the Hammers to a seventh-place finish last season in his first year in charge — but the Croatian manager acknowledged after their fourth-straight defeat in the Premier League that the situation is not a good one.

In a statement on their website, the owners had the following to say: There is no question that this has not been the start to the season that we were looking for but rest assured we are doing everything we can to fix the situation. The facts are there for everyone to see. We know we are letting in too many goals and not scoring enough, but be assured we will sort the problems out.

There have been factors which have contributed to the poor start with injuries to key players and some key decisions which have gone against us. But we are not going to make excuses and know that Slaven and his team will be working even harder on the training ground this week to get things right. We have got to remain positive. These are the same players that helped us enjoy such a memorable final season at the Boleyn Ground.

We know this is a difficult time for our supporters at the moment but we want to thank you personally and wholeheartedly for staying with the Club. We will turn our season around. These are tough times but as Mark Noble said over the weekend, this is the time that the West Ham United family needs to come together. We can’t thank you enough for the impeccable way you pulled together and supported the team yesterday.

Our fans have always shown over the years the amazing support they have for the team and we have no doubts they will get behind the players even more over the coming weeks. We stated last week that we would be putting measures in place to make the London Stadium experience something everyone can be proud of and we would like to thank all our supporters for their support in this regard.

Supporters can rest assured that we will not be slowing our efforts despite the match against Southampton being completely trouble-free, and we will not stop working until everyone feels they have a Stadium to be proud of – on and off the pitch. We would like to thank all fans for their incredible support and continued cooperation.

BBC Sport: Hendrick Scores As Burnley Defeat Watford 2-0

Posted Image
Quote:

Burnley's record signing Jeff Hendrick scored his first goal for the club to help his side beat a lacklustre Watford in the Premier League.

The hosts had carried the greater threat and Hendrick headed in from a Steven Defour cross for the opener.

Troy Deeney had a rare Hornets shot saved before Defour crossed for Michael Keane to nod in a second for Burnley.

Isaac Success went close late on for Watford but the Clarets easily held on for a second league win of the season.

The victory moved Burnley level on seven points with Watford.
