West Ham statement:
Allardyce to leave

West Ham
Posted at 17:04
--A West Ham statement has already been published: "West Ham United will begin the search for a new manager after the club decided not to renew the contract of Sam Allardyce following the conclusion of the 2014-15 season.

"Joint-Chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold will now oversee the recruitment process for a new manager to lead the club into one of the most exciting eras in its history.

"The Board has already compiled a shortlist of replacements for Allardyce and will be making significant transfer funds available for the successful candidate. From our point of view there isn't a more exciting job in the Premier League at present."

'Schoolboy defending'
Leicester 5-1 QPR
Quote:

QPR boss Chris Ramsey: "It was a very frustrating day and some of our defending and tracking back was schoolboy.

"There were a few positives and I can't fault the players for their effort but we are in this position because we haven't had the quality to take chances when they come, and because we've made too many errors in defence.

"We had travelling fans here again, which was fantastic. It was a disappointing result for them so we want to make sure the next season is going to be a happier one for them.

"It is no secret that there is going to have to be some major changes because of the position we are in.

"We haven't maintained our status in the Premier League so something has to change in order to get the club back to where we need to be."

'There wasn't a contract talked about'
Posted Image
--"There was not a contract talked about, but it is probably the right for both of us to move on. I've enjoyed this opportunity, it's been a great venture. I take great pride in what I have achieved. The team, the club is in a hugely more successful position than when I took over. Everything I was asked to do I've delivered. It's probably the right time for us both to move on, I really enjoyed the ride.

"I think it is time for me to go, they said I was not going to get a new contract, but we just said 'that's it', and I'm off. The relationship was mostly with David Sullivan on the football side of things, and I thanked him. I enjoyed it, four years is a long time in this game, and it is time for us to move on.

"When you get the chance for a break you don't jump out of the of the frying pan into the fire. The club is in a fantastic position and I really enjoyed taking it there."

Chelsea receive Premier League trophy
--Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks, BBC Final Score
Quote:

"I wouldn't say they've been incredible and I wouldn't say magnificent either, but Chelsea won it.

"Jose Mourinho is the master of taking pressure off his team, but champions or not there have been deficiencies. They've only lost three games, but Arsenal, Manchester City or Manchester United would not have won the championship in this style. Mourinho has been the pragmatist, he changed their approach, and you have to say they are worthy champions. But the only point I'm making is that not everybody likes it."

Newcastle 2-0 West Ham - NEWCASTLE STAYING UP
--Newcastle fan Jamie Smith: "An absolute fairytale ending as Jonas Gutierrez, comfortably man of the match, seals his already assured place in the affections of Newcastle fans with the goal that seals our Premier League status.

"Still, sealing 15th place and survival on the final day is no cause for celebration. I'm still in the ground for the sit in protest half an hour after the game, with disillusionment from the season gone being rightly aimed at the owner. Relief, but there's a long road ahead."

'I still want this job'
Newcastle 2-0 West Ham - NEWCASTLE STAYING UP

Posted Image
--Newcastle manager John Carver: "I told the players it was going to be a 90-minute rollercoaster and I thought we controlled our emotions quite well. We knew what was happening at Hull but we had to go about our own business, credit to Sam Allardyce for putting out a strong side, there were no gimmes and it was a good performance.

"The whole season has been difficult, when we went to New Zealand we lost the two lads (in the Malaysia Air crash in Ukraine), and that was a tragedy. I think they were looking down on us today. There have been some tough times but I'm stronger for it. I knew when I looked in players' eyes they were ready for this. Every player deserves credit. We have not had a good season but I am going to enjoy this moment.

"I still want this job, I love this club but I know this is a big summer. We have to invest , Mike has said that and that is encouraging. I want a summer where I can bring in the players I want. Today has given me more enthusiasm to do what I want to do."

Counting the cost
Hull 0-0 Man Utd - HULL RELEGATED
--Even with parachute payments of £25million in the first season, relegated clubs will face a drop of around £50million in turnover. Hull's income in the Championship in 2012-13 was £11.1million, and £84.5million in the Premier League in 2013-14. Wowsers.

Everton 0-1 Tottenham
--Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino: "It was a really, really good day. The first half was fantastic, one of the best of the season. The effort was brilliant, I want to congratulate the players because it was a tough season and arriving fifth was very good for us. For a first season at Tottenham, it was difficult but I'm very happy."

Newcastle 2-0 West Ham - NEWCASTLE STAYING UP
Former Newcastle captain Alan Shearer on 5 live
--"I don't think anyone could say Newcastle didn't deserve the result today. There was a great atmosphere, the players showed they wanted to stay in the Premier League and the fans backed them. I'm delighted they will be playing top flight football next season.

"Jonas Gutierrez scoring at the end is a fantastic story. If there is one guy who really works his socks off it's Jonas, and he was doing it in my time at the club too. After all he has been through I know how much that goal will mean to him today. He has shown incredible commitment to the club.

"Now if they stop selling their best players, bring in a few new faces and play the best team in cup competitions, you never know, we might just have a very good club on our hands."

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown, BBC Final Score
--"I think John Carver was woefully out of his depth. The atmosphere was incredible today and the fans got behind the side.

"Mike Ashley, by letting Alan Pardew go, put Newcastle in this position. Carver should stay with the club because he is a Newcastle man through and through but they need somebody else at the helm who can do more."

'Clyne will stay'
Man City 2-0 Southampton
--Nabil Hassan, BBC Sport
"Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has just finished his post-match media conference and spoke of his "pride" after the ended their season seventh in the Premier League with a club-record total of 60 points.

"Koeman also says he is "confident" Nathaniel Clyne will sign a new contract and the club should know either way next week. He still hopes they can make it into Europe and that it will be very hard to improve on this season."

Manager reaction
Leicester 5-1 QPR
Posted at 17:37
--Leicester boss Nigel Pearson: "We took a bit of time to get going. It is always difficult when you've achieved certain objectives to get what you want. The end product is a really good win but we didn't quite hit some of the standards we would have liked but we did more than enough in the end.

"It was a shame it wasn't a clean sheet as well as a win. But there are lots of positives and it is always important to try and finish a season with an outcome you can build on for next year. We are not kidding ourselves in terms of how we need to move forward, because although it has been a great end to the season, it needed to be."

--Manchester United have decided not to keep Radamel Falcao following the end of his season-long loan from Monaco. Falcao is due to speak to manager Louis van Gaal on Monday.

But it has already been decided to release the 29-year-old after he scored just four goals in 29 appearances.

The Colombian missed today's 0-0 draw with Hull due to injury, after which manager Louis van Gaal said: "We still have a day. I have to say something to him."

Manager reaction
Chelsea 3-1 Sunderland
Quote:

Chelsea manger Jose Mourinho: "I know that our rivals are not going to accept this title and they are going to fight and there are three or four teams that will be aiming for us and we have to be better - me, the players and our squad.

"Maybe they need some fresh blood to keep them under pressure. They know me they know that they are not going to keep their positions on the basis of this year."

Moyes for the Magpies?
Newcastle 2-0 West Ham - NEWCASTLE STAYING UP
--Former Tottenham striker Garth Crooks, BBC Final Score
Posted at 17:51
Quote:

"If you asked me to put money on John Carver being Newcastle's manager next season I would say no. I think Mike Ashley is an astute enough man to realise he has had his wake-up call, and Carver staying would not say the club is going in the right direction.

"I think David Moyes would be a good fit. Moyes is quite happy with Real Sociedad in Spain but is very keen to prove himself back in England." That's two clubs Moyes has been linked with in the last hour.
