--Manchester United have decided not to keep Radamel Falcao following the end of his season-long loan from Monaco. Falcao is due to speak to manager Louis van Gaal on Monday.

But it has already been decided to release the 29-year-old after he scored just four goals in 29 appearances.

The Colombian missed today's 0-0 draw with Hull due to injury, after which manager Louis van Gaal said: "We still have a day. I have to say something to him."
Cant see him going to any other English club after his 1 year here

--Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat: "The way we played, free of thinking about going down, was really good in some parts. We gave cheap goals but they deserved it.

"I will give that answer on my future next week. The players have responded excellently, with their commitment to the club, to get 12 points makes me very proud of them. My assistant said to me we made the impossible, possible. I have a big decision to make this week."

"He's a nice guy"
Chelsea 3-1 Sunderland

--A lot of love between Chelsea captain John Terry and the departing Didier Drogba as they speak to Match of the Day.

Terry: "It has been five years since we won the title. It has been a long time and hurts when you see other teams lift it. It is an unbelievable day - the whole squad have been top class from day one - but a sad one with Didier leaving today."

Drogba: "I knew they were going to do something to mark my last game. I love John. I have played with him for many years, I know him and his family and he is not the guy that people think that he is. He is a nice guy. "

Ings on his way out
Posted at 18:39
--The worst kept secret in the north west football scene has finally been resolved, as Burnley striker Danny Ings has confirmed he will leave the club this summer.

He said: ""It was quite an emotional day for me today. I think everybody knows what's been going on off the pitch and I wanted to finish my last game here in style. I'm just over the moon that I managed to get the winning goal in front of all the fans that travelled."

David Moyes?
There was mention of Everton's former football genius yesterday in the BBC live feed....however, it wasn't in regards to West Ham:

"If you asked me to put money on John Carver being Newcastle's manager next season I would say no. I think Mike Ashley is an astute enough man to realise he has had his wake-up call, and Carver staying would not say the club is going in the right direction.

"I think David Moyes would be a good fit. Moyes is quite happy with Real Sociedad in Spain but is very keen to prove himself back in England." That's two clubs Moyes has been linked with in the last hour.

SB Nation - Never Manage Alone: West Ham Appoint Bilic

Posted Image
Quote:

After Rafa Benitez sensationally turned them down for Real Madrid, West Ham United have now appointed their new manager to replace "Big" Sam Alladyce.

Slaven Bilic will lead the side out on matchday 1 of the 2015/16 season and the owners will hope into the same coming into opening game in their new loaned Olympic stadium a year later. When you take into account how important the owners have started that it is to be in the EPL when the 2016/17 season starts, it has to be viewed as a gamble.

Bilic left Besiktas in May after two years in charge. He was unable to deliver the title and failed to make the Champions League next season. Prior he managed Lokomotiv Moscow to a 9th place finish, their worst position since 1991. Perhaps the best or from my view worst management memory of Bilic, was as Croatia's head man. Making the next Newcastle manager Steve McClaren look the "Wally in the brolly" (check out Youtube) he eliminated England from Euro 2008 qualification and ruined my summer fun in the process.

In Sam, the Hammers had a manager proven at both keeping his sides comfortably in the EPL but also raising their results. Fans of Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers can both look longingly at the joy of the EPL. Both clubs have suffered quick relegation to the Championship on his leaving.

West Ham actually had a great opening half of the 2014/15 campaign before a disappointing ending saw them finish midtable in 12th place. The biggest issue he had was the style of play. Hammers fans expect flair and plenty of attacking play when watching their side. Many times when listening to phone in shows you would hear the fans pine for that type of entertainment. Allardyce's sides since the days of Jay-Jay Okocha, Youri Djorkaeff, Fernando Hierro and Nicolas Anelka have lacked that get off your seat look.

One year away from the new stadium, West Ham above all else just need to be in the EPL. Much like Tony Pulis, Sam virtually guarantees you that as manager. Bilic played one season in the league and therefore has experience of some of its subtleties. He may bring a more enjoyable approach and he may yet also take the club to the next level.

As a neutral I love attacking football and it should be fun watching how their season progresses. I suspect the fans will be happy come the opening week of August. As West Ham finished a comfortable mid table in 2014/15 it could be that the owners see their squad as a safe bet to be too strong to go down. Using that logic they may feel that now's the time to move onto the next part of club progression. But it is a very big gamble.

Premier League: Cech Signs With Arsenal

Posted Image
Quote:

Petr Cech says he is still hungry for success after completing his move across London from Chelsea to Arsenal for an undisclosed fee.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper has signed a "long-term contract" with Arsenal after a glittering 11-year career with Chelsea, where he made 333 Barclays Premier League appearances and claimed four BPL titles.

Cech, regarded as one of best goalkeepers in world football, lost his Chelsea No 1 spot to Thibaut Courtois last season but says he has lost none of his motivation. "I'm really excited about joining Arsenal Football Club and can't wait to join up for pre-season," Cech told Arsenal's YouTube channel. "I have the same commitment to football, the same motivation and the same hunger for success as I had at the beginning of my career, and I love the challenges brought by the top quality players you face while playing in the Premier League.

"When Arsene Wenger spoke to me about his ambitions for this club, and how he saw me as part of this team, the decision was clear."

Cech kept 162 clean sheets in the BPL, the most by a player for one club. During the 2004/05 season, Cech also went a BPL record 1,024 minutes without conceding as Chelsea claimed the title. On his departure from Stamford Bridge, Cech published an open letter to Chelsea fans, thanking them for an "incredible" 11 years.

"Petr Cech is a player that I have admired for a long time and I am very pleased that he has decided to join us," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. "He has proven over many seasons that he is one of the outstanding keepers in the world and he will add great strength to our squad."

Cech, Wenger's first signing of the summer, will soon be joining up with his new team-mates for preparations for the new season, which, for Arsenal, includes a trip to Singapore for the Barclays Asia Trophy 2015. Everton, Stoke City and a Singapore Select XI will also be taking part.

Arsenal open their 2015/16 Barclays Premier League campaign with a home match against West Ham United on the weekend of 8 August.

NBC ProSoccerTalk: Nigel Pearson Sacked By Leicester City

Posted Image
Quote:

Leicester City has fired Nigel Pearson as its manager despite him leading the Foxes to one of the greatest escape acts the Premier League has ever seen during the 2014-15 season.

Pearson, 51, was “relieved of his duties” after three-and-a-half seasons in charge of Leicester, his second stint with the Midlands club, as he guided them from League One to the Premier League and fought off relegation in remarkable fashion.

The often much-maligned Leicester boss — mostly for his bizarre antics with the press and off the pitch as he was fined for verbally abusing Leicester’s fans, pinned an opposition player down to the ground in his technical area and then lost it with a journalist, calling him an “ostrich” — turned things around at the King Power Stadium after a stunning finish to last season, but now the Foxes are without a manager as they head into the tenth Premier League season in their history.

It was widely reported back in February that Pearson had been fired as Leicester’s boss but after much confusion it was confirmed that he was still in charge and led the Foxes to seven wins in their last nine games of the campaign to survive the drop after being rock-bottom for much of the season. Recently Pearson’s son James and two other Leicester players were fired by the club after being involved in a racist sex tape which was filmed during a club trip to Thailand, the home of Leicester’s owners.

In a short statement on Leicester’s website, the Midlands club had the following to say on their decision to dismiss Pearson: Leicester City Football Club has today relieved its First Team Manager, Nigel Pearson, of his duties. The Board of Directors recognizes the success Nigel has helped to bring to Leicester City during his two spells in charge of the Club, particularly during the last three and a half years. However, it has become clear to the Club that fundamental differences in perspective exist between us. Regrettably, the Club believes that the working relationship between Nigel and the Board is no longer viable.

Leicester City’s owners, Vichai and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, and the Board of Directors would like to place on record their thanks to Nigel for the considerable contribution he has made during his time with the Club and wish him well in the future. Khun Vichai and Khun Top remain wholly committed to the Club’s long-term development and to on going investment in a squad that will continue to be competitive in the Premier League. We trust that the Club’s supporters will recognize that the owners have always acted with the best interests of the Club at heart and with the Club’s long-term future as their greatest priority.
