....well, at least we know who'll succeed "the Head" at Old Trafford, right?

(NBC ProSoccerTalk) Louis van Gaal was only appointed manager of Manchester United this summer, but he is already naming Ryan Giggs to be his successor.

Giggs acted as manager for the final four matches of United’s season last year after David Moyes was sacked, and was kept on as an assistant to Van Gaal.

Earlier in the week, Van Gaal commented on how quickly Giggs was learning as a coach, and even said the former-Manchester United star reads the game similar to one Jose Mourinho.

Today the Dutchman come out and told MUTV that he believes Giggs will take over as the next manager at Manchester United.

I expect that he [Giggs] will be the next manager after I am gone. Now I have the responsibility. He has tasks that he has to perform like the players. What he has to do, for me, he does it very well.”

If anyone has the resume to lead Manchester United, it’s Ryan Giggs. The 41-year-old Welshman made over 900 appearances for United over his 24-year career at Old Trafford, the most in club history. He is the most decorated player in English history, winning 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League titles and four FA Cup trophies, among numerous other titles and awards.

Earlier in the season it looked like there may have been some animosity between Giggs and Van Gaal, but those rumors went away as the team turned around its’ play. Van Gaal has a proven track record of winning at some of the biggest clubs in the world, so no matter their relationship, Giggs could not find many better to develop under.

....Louis van Gaal.

Man (Utd boss) down
Man Utd 3-2 Arsenal
--Never mind five goals and a headline-grabbing Premier League debut, this alone would have made this encounter memorable. Most bizarre thing I've seen all season.

(Sky Sports) Gary Neville has been sacked as Valencia first-team coach after less than four months in charge. The former Manchester United and England right-back has been shown the door by the Spanish club after guiding the team to only three wins from 16 La Liga games.

The 2-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo on March 20 was Valencia's third successive loss and left them in 14th place in the table, just six points above the relegation zone.

A statement from the La Liga club read: "After careful consideration, the club have decided to make a change with the best interests of the Valencia CF moving forward this season. We thank Gary for his work at Valencia and wish him the best in the future."

Neville, 41, also issued a statement on the club's website following his departure, which read: "I want to thank Valencia, the fans, the coaching staff and players.

"I would have liked to continue the work I started, but I understand that we are in business based on results and in 28 games we have seen 10 wins, seven draws and 11 defeats, which is not the level demanded by me or by this club."

Pako Ayestaran, who was assistant coach of Valencia from 2001 to 2004 under Rafa Benitez, has been appointed as head coach of the club until the end of the season.

Neville was appointed as Valencia manager on a six-month contract on December 2 after Nuno Espirito Santo decided to step down from the position and combined the role alongside his duties as England coach.

The Van Gaal philosophy. Quotes from MU fans;

1) "Our WB is the striker
Our Winger (Lingard) is the AM
Our Priced AM is the winger
Our striker is the winger
Our winger is the winger, where he gets shifted to I don't know where
Our DM is a CB
Our CB is a DM"

2) "Seems like Van Gaal's tactics was to chuck s**t at the wall and pray that it gets mistaken for chocolate."

3) "We can't even beat the traffic, never mind a football team."

hmm1 ...isn't this the same LVG who once opined that he wanted his team to play like they were "horny" or something?

Didn't realise it quoted the Rag, post edited.

Anyway, another thing to bash MU. This is just one of the juicy bits.

"“Managers should feel more independent. We should have eye for more than just the result, a manager must have the balls to follow the difficult way to top class football. And that difficult way is attacking, attractive football. It is everything I stand for and what I strive for, at every club. Why? Football is a product we have to sell.” - LvG

I have finally cracked the LvG code. He says that the difficult way is attacking, attractive football, right?

What he meant was the difficult way is to attack the idea of attractive football. That's the philosophy, which is why they play pointless possession football and had so many 0-0s.
