....well, at least we know who'll succeed "the Head" at Old Trafford, right?

(NBC ProSoccerTalk) Louis van Gaal was only appointed manager of Manchester United this summer, but he is already naming Ryan Giggs to be his successor.

Giggs acted as manager for the final four matches of United’s season last year after David Moyes was sacked, and was kept on as an assistant to Van Gaal.

Earlier in the week, Van Gaal commented on how quickly Giggs was learning as a coach, and even said the former-Manchester United star reads the game similar to one Jose Mourinho.

Today the Dutchman come out and told MUTV that he believes Giggs will take over as the next manager at Manchester United.

I expect that he [Giggs] will be the next manager after I am gone. Now I have the responsibility. He has tasks that he has to perform like the players. What he has to do, for me, he does it very well.”

If anyone has the resume to lead Manchester United, it’s Ryan Giggs. The 41-year-old Welshman made over 900 appearances for United over his 24-year career at Old Trafford, the most in club history. He is the most decorated player in English history, winning 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League titles and four FA Cup trophies, among numerous other titles and awards.

Earlier in the season it looked like there may have been some animosity between Giggs and Van Gaal, but those rumors went away as the team turned around its’ play. Van Gaal has a proven track record of winning at some of the biggest clubs in the world, so no matter their relationship, Giggs could not find many better to develop under.

Manchester United were at one point 6 points off the top of the PL....went on a 25 match unbeaten run and ended up 17 points off top. That's the Special One for you.

(BBC Sport) 'Let's not demonise Man Utd' - FA chairman
--FA chairman Greg Clarke has been speaking to the BBC at the Fifa Congress.

He defended Manchester United's right to pay agents multi-million pound fees in light of reports that suggested the club paid agent Mino Raiola £41m when they signed Paul Pogba for £89.3m from Juventus.

"If Manchester United want to pay an agent that much money - and I don’t know, the FA knows, but I haven’t looked into each individual transfer and how much the agents got," said Clarke.

"If that’s what they’re going to pay, that’s what they’re going to pay. They are accountable to their owners, they’re accountable to their fans. If they think it’s good value for money - how much should we pay for players? How much should go to agents as a commercial transaction?

"If football wants to change that and limit the amount of money that agents get we’re going to have to sit down as a game, led by the professional game, the Premier League and the EFL and the clubs and talk about that.

"I just think picking on one transfer and demonising it is not that helpful. Kneejerk reactions don’t often yield good outcomes. What we want is some thought about how much money stays in the game so it can be invested in long-term productive things. "

...isn't it just nice to see the FA standing up for one of their clubs? swe1 swe1
...wanna bet that if Liverpool were the club above, the FA would be singing a far different tune?

NBC Sports: Bristol City Stuns Manchester United In League Cup Quarters
Quote:

Lee Johnson’s rising managerial star now shines over the biggest upset in this season’s League Cup.

Korey Smith restored Bristol City’s lead over Manchester United in the third minute of stoppage time, as the Robins eliminated the holders from the tournament with a 2-1 win in the quarterfinals.

From the rugby lines at Ashton Gate to the appearance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Manchester United starting lineup, there was plenty to discuss from the quarterfinal. That leapt up a notch when Joe Bryan scored an outstanding goal to give the underdogs a moment in the sun.

United outshot Bristol 19-11 on the night, but their only goal came from Ibrahimovic.

The big Swede zipped a free kick zipped low through the wall to make it 1-1 within six minutes.
