Sky Sports: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will only be satisfied with Champions League qualification

Jurgen Klopp says he will only be satisfied if he can guide Liverpool into next season’s Champions League.

Five-time European champions Liverpool last featured in the competition in the 2014/15 season but were unable to reach the knockout stages, finishing third in their group behind Real Madrid and FC Basel. Liverpool missed out on a place in this season's competition after a 3-1 defeat to Sevilla in last year's Europa League final.

But Klopp, who is in his first full season in charge at Liverpool, is determined to take the third-placed Reds back into Europe's premier club competition. "I will only be satisfied if we reach the Champions League," the Liverpool boss told Sky in Germany.

Liverpool are unbeaten in six Premier League matches ahead of their visit to The Hawthorns to face West Brom, live on Super Sunday.

The top-four race remains tight with Manchester City two points behind the Reds with a game in hand, while fifth-placed Manchester United trail Liverpool by six points having played two games fewer than their rivals.

"You are always under pressure," Klopp said. "In every game there is pressure. You need to win all the time. I'm only satisfied when the team wins."

Liverpool have been forced to make do without England internationals Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson in recent weeks and will definitely be without top-scorer Sadio Mane this weekend, after the forward underwent surgery in London on Tuesday.

Mane will be out for the remainder of the season following a knee injury sustained in the 3-1 derby win over Everton, but the Senegal international has vowed to return to action next season "better than ever before".

"It's great that I have received so many encouraging messages from fans around the world, particularly on social media," Mane told the club's official website. "It makes me proud and gives me so much power that so many supporters of Liverpool FC and Senegal give me such great support. I'd like to say thank you to everyone.

"I will give my very best after yesterday's successful surgery to be back on the pitch as soon as possible and be even better than before."
