(BBC Sport) Early team news - Firmino fitness doubt Liverpool v Middlesbrough (15:00 GMT) --Liverpool are hopeful forward Roberto Firmino will be fit to play on Sunday despite a muscle problem. If he is unavailable then the Reds could deploy the same starting line-up which began the 4-0 win at West Ham. Jurgen Klopp's side need a win to guarantee qualification for next season's Champions League. Middlesbrough head coach Steve Agnew may again be without Daniel Ayala, Gaston Ramirez and Victor Valdes because of injury. |

Charlie Adam, Stoke City midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live: Daniel Sturridge's injury record is not great and he’s not featured as much as he wants to. Three seasons ago the three 'S' players, Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling, were unplayable. And Sturridge was enjoying his football. Apart from his injuries, I see a lack of application and you know what Jurgen Klopp stands for - workhorses. |

.....The Race For Champions League..... ...currently, 3rd-5th is as follows..... 3} Manchester City, 75 pts, +36 4} Liverpool, 73 pts, +33 5} Arsenal, 72 pts, +31 ...the scenarios are as follows..... -MAN CITY: A win vs. Watford guarantees 3rd in the table and CL Group Stage; a draw guarantees the same if goal differential is better than either Liverpool or Anrsenal's -LIVERPOOL: A win vs. Middlesbrough plus a Man City loss guarantees them 3rd and CL Group Stage -ARSENAL: A win vs. Everton plus a City loss & a loss/draw from Liverpool would see them tied for 3rd w/City (they would need a heavy thumping of Everton to pass City on goal differential) and Liverpool in 5th |

Elsewhere in the U.K., Celtic have completed the first-ever Invincibles season in Scottish top-flight history.....now, even though in regards to Scottish football, I favor the blue half of Glasgow, even I have to celebrate this accomplishment:

(BBC Sport) Home, but not dry Liverpool v Middlesbrough (15:00 BST) --Jurgen Klopp could hardly have hand-picked a better run-in at Anfield. But, just as they have all season, Liverpool have been perversely predictable, acing the trickiest tests, fluffing the apparent gimmes.... |
