He HAS been an amazing servant to the club. No arsenal fan but he has been part of the furniture in this league for so long I will miss him. |

Should of went along time ago. But when you build something special its hard to leave behind and especially when it starts to fall around you. He wanted to steady the ship but failed. Was hoping he would stay longer to beat Fergies record of how long he was at a club. But oh well. |

The best comparison I can think of in regards to Wenger's departure is one that makes sense in the context of sports. In most sports, there's always a generation of managers whose arrival heralds a sea change in the sport; in American football, its' the great triumvirate of Dallas Cowboys' coach Tom landry, Miami Dolphins' boss Don Shula and Pittsburgh Steelers coach Chuck Noll...all of them left a lasting legacy, won their shares of titles and left indelible memories on the minds of fans. Same here with Arsene Wenger; if someone asks me who the great Premier League managers of my generation are, the first two that come to mind for me are Wenger and from down the east end of the Lancs Road; both have left (or are in the process of) legacies to the sport that are gonna' be hard to beat, if they ever are. I just think, like with the three gridiron coaches above, Mother Time caught up the Frenchman and it was either go on his own terms or have the Arsenal board give him a P45, a Rolex and a "Nice to know you".....
