Every character has a class. Based on which you choose, The Emporium will adjust its prices and availability of certain gear to reflect realistic bargains, allowing you to make custom arsenals for your character!

Warrior
By far the most physical class available, a Warrior's style is to use his or her body to solve conflicts. This does not mean Warriors are rash. In fact there are many sorts, and typically, there requires strict discipline to succeed in the regional training or to become a respectable figure in the competitive world. What separates them from the rest is their ability to physically endure the strain which may break others. This includes such things as lifting heavy objects and wearing bulky armor, which can take a lot of damage at the sacrifice of agility. An adult of this class is likely to know hand-to-hand combat. Most celebrity athletes are also of this class.

Gun-slinger
Those who retain the fighting spirit, but were born with a talent for speed and accuracy instead of power, become Gun-slingers. Being a Gun-slinger requires intelligence in addition to physical capability, because their weapons will become their best friends. They must know every mechanical detail in order to operate and maintain the technology in their possession, especially in this day and age, when a repair shop isn't just down the street. A Gun-slinger must also possess patience and a steady hand. Sometimes making your mark requires a lot of waiting. While a guy with a gun is still seen by many of the civilized culture as more powerful than a hand-to-hand or melee combatant, developments in technology and bio-engineering have given them equal footing on the playground.

Scientist
Most Scientists you run into aren't aggressive people. Even if they are, they generally lack the combat experience required to put up a good fight. No, they instead prefer to act behind the scenes, doting on the secrets of the universe. They are imperative to civilization. They tend to be the ones with all the good ideas. Scientists usually have stronger influences behind the scenes than directly, they are almost as good at acquiring parts as Engineers, and are often valued in society above Warriors and Gun-slingers. This class includes doctors and surgeons, which are, in character, the only professionals able to install bio-mechanical machinery and often are the only ones from which you might obtain a rare cure or drugs.

Engineer
As Scientists worship the concept, Engineers are driven by the execution. You'll see anything from child prodigies to idiot savants, to people who have worked the metal for a whole century to perfect this art. What is physics, if not made of magic? What is electricity, if not the divine breath? Engineers combine their creativity, their experience, and whatever may guide their nimble hands between the grinding metal to bring objects of use into the world, and utilize old things in ways never before imagined. Their kind are clever ones, as you need to be when your life always depends on a prototype.

Spy
Some folks would rather not even bother with the whole open confrontation business. Indeed, anything can be avoided. Or crept around. Or sabotaged. Or stolen away. To successfully portray the Spy class, you must be observant and light on your feet. Though they are capable of fading away into the crowd, they can have as many “friends” as a politician. Spies use technology for subterfuge and a means to an end, without drawing any unwanted attention. They know where to find the right gear for the right job, and a good one knows exactly how that job's going to go down.

Priest
To be written once we have more on Religion.

BEHEMOTH
SLANG TERMS|__
Moth(s), Nightcrawler(s), Grounder(s)
AVERAGE LIFE EXPECTANCY: 70 - 80 Yrs

CAN BE FOUND mostly in Troma and the eastern wastelands, but they are also sparsely littered everywhere. Advances in technology have led them to places on the surface you’d never expect to find them. Nocturnal by nature, you can usually spot them lounging in dark places.

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES|__
This is the largest, physically strongest sentient species, reaching average heights of seven and eight feet tall with little difference between genders. Their bodies produce greater amounts of muscle tissue, faster. Appetites concentrated towards protein, they are built for athleticism and manual labor. To fuel themselves with the energy they need, they eat twice as much as most other species. The shape of their feet make them good long-distance runners. A Behemoth only has four fingers and toes on each appendage, all tipped with thick talons angled vertically at the sides like small shovels, ranging three to four inches long. They are natural burrowers, so before technology came along to do the hard jobs, they used their talons for digging and not primarily as predatory utensils.

A layer of tiny scales hides their flesh. It is decently soft to touch, and becomes softer towards their bellies comparative to suede leather. This area is far more sensitive than the rest of them, and can be viewed as a physical weak spot. Conversely, a Behemoth's backside is layered with wide, horizontal rows of plating made of the same hard, bony material as their claws. The only sensitivity they have there is to deep pressure. This is their first defense. Here, they can withstand blows five times stronger than any other sentient race, but will not stop a bullet, a laser, or a blade at high velocity. Skin tones range along the darker color spectrum. Black is most common, but there are also green, blue, and brown ones. Much of the color depends on regional ancestry.

The majority of their faces wear similarly hard material, though a bit more delicate, like a mask. No upper lip is visible, presumably hidden beneath a blunt edge, but there is a definable lower lip, set between a pair of mandibles that resemble small tusks. Instead of noses, this species has a pair of antennas, which resemble prehensile eyebrows, jutting elegantly out 10 to 20 inches from either side of their faces. The males are known to have a noticeably longer set than the females. It is a trait considered for a good mate, since it is perceived that longer antennas mean more refines senses. In addition to the senses of hearing and smell, they can interpret vibrations from about a mile away. The eyes of a Moth are 90% pupil, whatever iris remaining just barely visible before the thick horizontal stripe patterning around their eyes, lighter and more vibrant in shade compared to the rest of their bodies. Their eyes are designed for seeing in the dark, but they are also sensitive to bright light or direct sunlight. In order not to be blinded above ground during the day, they must wear protective facial or head gear. What hair they grow is thick, and only sprouts from their heads in a thick line – natural mohawks – and are seen in varying lengths. It is common to see the males with their heads shaved. The natural color of their hair reflects the tone of their eye patterning, but many choose to dye it.

REPUTATION|__

BRIEF HISTORY|__
Much of these peoples’ history was buried in the seismic activity of the fallout, but still exists beneath miles of rock. However, it is known that their past is wrought with war and injustice. The most famous of these epic skirmishes is the war against the [telepathic race], which lasted half a century before a treaty was signed and extreme racism pittered out over the course of around two-hundred more years. Some prejudice survived until the world ended. Leadership amongst the Behemoths seems to have always circulated around battle prowess, and several regimes have fallen due to such things as civil war and sabotage. Only after the apocalypse did patience and tolerance become a virtue, and some say this species may have never invited peace if their survival wasn’t dependant on it now.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION|__
  • Instinctually nocturnal.
  • Females giving birth to twins or triplets is common. Pregnancies last around six months, during which the mother can eat four times more than usual.
  • Infant and child mortality rates are high. There is no understood major reason for this, as the circumstances of death are widely varied.
  • Polygamy is socially acceptable and instinctual. The average married Behemoth has two or three spouses.
  • When threatened, it is instinctual to curl their bodies inward, so that the protective plating on their backs covers more surface area than their soft bellies.
  • Skin sheds once in a lifetime, between the ages of 60 and 80. Their skin will take on dull tones as life progresses.
  • They burn their dead.
