A new Generation; Ruunath's Hatching

Acacia and Cairrean had both been watching the five eggs, the young Weyrwoman a bit concerned for the one that seemed to have been pushed to the side, away from the others. Then again, it had been a while, and the eggs hadn't Hatched. There had to be at least one viable egg in the Clutch to make Ruunath wait with them, though. It made Acacia wonder... Just what was the ratio of viable to dud eggs in a Green's Clutch? Well, hopefully there wouldn't be any and the one egg to the side was just a smaller dragonet. Ruunath kept her tail wrapped around the largest of the five eggs, and the smallest of the five was always near her claws, as if she believed it needed extra protection. Then one of the eggs moved slightly, as they had all done at least once in the last few weeks. The Green, who had been dozing comfortably, lifted her head to look at the egg. Then the others slowly began to move, and a draconic version of a grin spread across her face.

Cairrean, I think they're Hatching! the Green said to her rider.

"In that case..." The girl turned to Acacia. "Can you have Kestrith call the other Riders, and get the Candidates?"

"Already on it," the Goldrider said with a small smile, cell phone in hand. She quickly sent a text to the Candidates of the moment, simply saying, It's happening.

Kestrith, who was waiting outside because of the lack of space indoors, searched quickly for the minds of the other dragons before sending out the call. Attention all Riders! Ruunath's eggs are Hatching!

((Note: most if not all of these will be NPCs unless someone wants to adopt them. I'll wait for a few days if anyone wants to post before I move on.))

Fate came in full sprint, Taylor being dragged behind him looking rather disheveled. She looked as if she had been napping by the fireplace in the living room of the mansion. "Oh no, they are here...." She said worriedly about the new eggs, Fate's face bright with excitement as he stood before them. He was not garbed in all white, but was wearing a white tshirt and bluejeans. That was better than nothing.

Taylor gave him a slight push to put him where he should stand for the eggs. He looked back slightly nervous, then towards the other two Riders.

They are here, sister? Oh this will be lovely.

Arielle. My eggs Hatch. The calm tones sang through her mind, and she rose and paced the Brown to the Egg Room. Duluth stopped outside the door, unable to get inside, but his head craned down and around to watch the Hatching through the window of the room. Arielle smiled, then paced inside and smiled at the four within, inclining her head to the two Queenriders, then pacing over to stand near Cairrean. "I was wondering, despite their movement," she admitted to the Greenrider a little sheepishly as she eyed the small clutch.

D'rius padded inside next, moving off to the side and out of the way from the Candidates. He was quiet and considering as he watched the eggs move and wriggle. Another clutch, this one born to two of their own. An exciting day, he thought mildly.

Ruunath stood and carefully moved so she wasn't between the Candidates and the eggs. Five eggs...

Aster came running in just as the first cracks started forming on one of the eggs. The largest one and the one off to the side were still immobile, but the other two that weren't cracked were doing well. Aster took her place near her sister, who glanced over at D'rius before returning her attention to the eggs. The cracked egg started to break apart, piece by piece, revealing a soft green form underneath. The form broke open a side of the shell, and the Green spilled out onto the hearth. The little Green was rather small, but not quite as small as her mother had been upon Hatching day. It was a given that she would be larger than her mother, who was the only dragon who could fit into this largest of rooms. Her hide was a darker forest green, with scales a jade green color.

The largest egg then began to rock, but another egg shattered outward without warning, showing a different color. Definitely male, this Hatchling was a pale purple-blue color, with his sparse scales a few shades lighter. He looked around, almost confused, before realizing what he did and prancing around in a circle, proud of himself. He stopped and looked at the egg off to the side, head tilted as he neared it, circling it slowly. There was something inside, of that much he was sure. But how to get it out? He could tell that whatever it was, it was having trouble getting out. But how could he help?

The Green took a moment to watch her brother prance around, before she decided that she wanted to go look at the Candidates. She started in front of Aster, but quickly moved on. So few to choose from... But she knew hers was here... She could feel it.

Arielle and D'rius both leaned forwards slightly as the Green broke shell, and the Brownrider smiled fondly. A cute little one, she thought, and sensed her Duluth's pride in his Hatchling. She looked good and strong, a healthy color to her.

The Bronzerider glanced over to Acacia and inclined his head slightly, eyes half-closing, then looked back as the blueish purple creature-a male by his build-broke shell as well, cocking his head curiously. Another new hue? he thought, a very faint frown touching his lips.

Acacia shook her head at D'rius and his comments. "Not a new one... A Chalcedony... Unless I'm wrong."

The little Green had finally found Hers, and the young girl announced that her name was Lillineth, and the pair went over to get food.

The blue-purple male yawned and stretched, seeming to lose interest in the egg that had caught his attention. The other mid-sized egg decided then to begin cracking, which ended up falling into about five large shards, revealing a rather darker colored Blue, with scales an almost indigo color. An obvious Blue, there was no mistaking this male. He didn't take interest in any of the eggs on the hearth, instead heading right for a Candidate, who announced the Blue's name to be Tarlith.

The blue-purple dragonet returned his attention to the one egg after the bathing of the Blue. He noticed that this egg was actually shaking a little bit, and he took aim with his tail. He smacked the egg lightly a few times with his tail, making sure his aim was consistant. There were some cracks on the shell, and a sudden indignant chirping could be heard from inside the egg. The blue-purple dragonet backed away as the one inside the egg started making more of an effort to hatch.

The largest of the eggs seemed to wan to Hatch as well, but this one collapsed inward on the inhabitant instead, and with no warning. The hatchling was obviously the largest of this Clutch, but the color was unknown at the moment.

The one the blue-purple was whacking rammed into the side of it's egg, crashing out and leaving a hole in the otherwise intact egg. The tiny white creature that spilled out, a bit bewildered by her discovery. This was even smaller than her mother had been, but she seemed healthy.

Taylor was delighted to see a Chalecedony appear, along with a beautiful little green and a bold Blue. "Oh they look marvelous Cairrean! Ruunath did such a beautiful job!" She clasped her hands together and to her chest over her heart. She could feel the warmth comg from Petrinth's mind as her's picked up the images from Taylor's mind.

Beautiful is right. They will be strong and shall grow quick! Such great fighters!

Fate took a sharp intake of breath when the Green came from her shell, followed by the Chalecdony and the Blue. He smiled to himself when the Green and Blue found their bondeds, but was curious as to what would come out of the last two shells. The largest was making no move to escape but he found himself humored when the little blue-purple dragonet helped her little white sister escape from her prison. Fate looked back at his best friend, smiling as she nodded her approval...obviously listening to her Queen in her mind. He looked back to the dragonets waiting for the next move to be made on their part.

"I'm not so sure," the Bronzerider murmured to his mate, glancing at her, then back to the eggs and Hatchlings once more. "Our lovely little lady is just that. A lady. This one is most distinctly a male, if I'm reading his build right. But we shall see." At that moment the Blue hatched, and his lips twitched slightly. A handsome beast, she thought, and felt Orlynth's approval as well in the back of his mind, the Bronze shifting slightly to peer over Duluth's head in the window, a comical scene. The Brown adjusted, acknowledging Orlynth's greater rank, but also refusing to outright back off. These were HIS children after all!

Arielle cocked her head slightly as the little bi-colored male appeared, curious about him. She sensed Duluth's curiosity as well, but the Brown was far more proud than curious, and she chuckled softly as she glanced over to see him jostling for space with the Weyrleader's Bronze.

Acacia nodded. "We shall see," she echoed, watching.

The blue-purple male, his job done with the freedom of his sister, sauntered over to the Candidates and gave each of them a once-over. There was a moment where he stood before Fate, seeming interested in the boy, before he moved down the line again.

The little White, having finally oriented herself, stood, wings still dripping with egg goo. She flared her wings slowly, testing them as best she could without really flying. A young Candidate, a girl, stepped forward slightly, feeling a strange pull toward the White. Their eyes locked, and the White's eyes whirled rainbow. The girl stepped forward and picked up the tiny dragoness. "Her name is Angeth," the girl told Acacia as she walked past.

And now the final Hatchling had finished fighting with the shell that had collapsed in on it. Slowly, the shards fell off his frame, and hide and scale became visible. Then, wings flared suddenly, as if irritated at the shell that was sticking to him, and enough shards went flying that the color was now unquestionable. His hide was a deep, chocolate brown, with chestnut brown scales.

Fate's eyes lit up at the sight of the blue-purple approaching him. Then he felt a shell hit his leg as he looked over to see a deep chestnut Brown sitting there before him. He felt anxiety in his chest arising as he looked between both males, hoping one would choose him, at this point he didn't really care. Both were grandiose in appearance.

Taylor eyed the Brown in silence. He looked strapping, that was for sure. Wings flared and his hide was gleaming much like his blue-purple brother. The Green, White and Blue had Impressed which was a very good sign. She could feel Petrinth rumbling in approval of her sister's clutch and this only made Taylor wonder more what would come out of Kestrinth and Petrinth's clutches.
