Aragami...

Colonies of trillions of single cell organism gathered around a single core and sharing the same, violent, consciousness. They came from nowhere, suddenly and changed our Word by turning it into ruin. With shapes that mimicked mystical beast, armored vehicles or sometimes even humand, these alien beings killed over 75% of mankind and forced the survivors to hide behind fortified settlements. No mundane weapon could wound them, no force know to man or nature could put end to their existances.

That until the God Arcs came around...

Weapons made by the same cells who formed Aragami's bodies, artificial replicas of mankind's enemies, created with the sole purpose of defeating and devouring them. Wielded by God Eaters a choosen group of individuals able to synchronize with and can control the God Arcs, these weapons turned to be the last line between survival and extinction. The First generation was able to wield just mundane weapons that had been infused with Oracle Cells, the Second able to make full use of variable frame ones, the Third awakened a power known as the Power of Blood and the Fourh is never spoke of but had been here all around.

Under the banner of Fenrir, the mysterious organization who came up with the technology able to create God Arcs, the God Eaters gathered and started mankind's last stand against the Aragami. They split in multiple branches like the Far East one, Cradle or Blood special team to bring their fight against the Aragami around all the world.

This is the story of the Twilight Branch and it's two units. Hati and Skoll.

Alright, a small idea I had for another easy pace RP, this time about Monster Hunting. It's about God Eater, which makes the hunt even more badass, but I'm going to take some creative licenses here and there so you guys don't need to have played the game to fully enjoy it.

Let me know if anyone's interested, I'll add some details as you ask me for further info.

Some more info about the setting in the form of a small glossary:

Aragami: The name means violent gods and people at the Eclipse Branch (Decided to change Twilight due to, yeah...) are still wondering why they used a japanese name since Fenrir main branch is located in the Scandinavian region. They are basically colonies of nanomachines known as Oracle Cells that take a specific shape and role around a central core. Destroying said core is the only way to really kill an Aragami, otherwise they can keep regenerating endlessy.

Fenrir: A biotechnologies oriented corporation that ended up taking lead of the resistance to the Aragami outbreak. Right now they're the only ones able to manufacture God Arcs and the meds needed for the God Eaters.

God Arc: The weapon of a God Eater, it's basically a man made Oracle Cell Core installed on a weapon. One could consider it a tamed and artificial Aragami. The average God Arc nowadays is able to switch from a Melee mode and a Ranged mode, with multiple accessories that can be used to alter the type of said weapons. All God Arcs also feature an anti-Aragami shield for defense purposes. God Arcs require strict compatibility tests and once attuned with one, is impossible for a God Eater to get it replaced or use another one.

God Eater: Wielders of God Arcs and last line of defense for Mankind, these soldiers are individuals compatible with Oracle Cells which are allowed to get in symbiosis with a specific God Arc. Doing so means to literally allowe Oracle Cells' within someone's body so meds are required for the God Eaters to not be overcome by the Cells. These drugs are dispensed by a special armlet that once installed cannot be removed and acts as interface with the God Arc. Failing to receive these meds or having the armlet removed has dire consequences, often turning the God Eater into an Aragami or (If the God Eater is really lucky or strong willed.) into an Aragami\Human Hybrid.

God Eaters Generations: While the term is somewhat inaccurate, this is the traditional way to refer to differences between kinds of God Eaters and their God Arcs. The First generation was hastily created and their God Arcs were unable to switch form. Many of them had been retired from active duty and now perform as instructors. The second Generation is the most common to found, they can use switching form God Arcs and use peculiar abilities like the Special Bullets or Burst Overload. The third generation is pretty similar to the second one, they're actually considered a mutant branch of them able to use peculiar abilities known as "Blood Arts", their God Arcs can switch as well and usually come in more unique forms due to Fenrir central HQ investment on them. The fourth Generation refers to the hybrids. They're often shunned due to the feral changes that happen to their personality and bodies, they're unable to equip regular God Arc accessories or use special bullets, so their weapons are self made simulacrums of God Arcs which can generally switch from ranged and melee mode. On the other hand they get enhanced physical abilities and are able to regenerate wounds by eating Aragami on the battlefield. (More to come on them anyway.)

Extra infos will be added in as time passes.

From the WIP signup and info thread, more details on the RP's backstory...

Disclaimer: The RP is following an alternate timeline\setting than the original games. Some events have happened in this timeline as well, so there may be minor spoilers but knowledge of the original plot isn't really required.

God Eater:
Chronicles of the Twin Wolves

The Story so far...

Almost half a century has passed since the Aragami Outbreak in 2050, when humanity faced the end of the world as they used to know it, and Earth's population was reduced to less than one hundredth of their original number. Since then humans had ben forced to learn about surviving in an extremely hostile enviroment, hiding away in fortified shelters from the very same dangerous creatures that turned mankind's most beautiful cities into ruins. With their abilities to adapt and develop tools, humans managed to create powerful weapons to fight the Aragami, weapons called God Arcs. Created from the very same material of which Aragami where made, known as Oracle Cells, God Arcs were wielded in battle by humans who sacrificed part of their humanity to fight the Violent Gods' threat. Humans who took for themselves the name of God Eaters. Under the banners of Fenrir the God Eaters fought, and even now fight, to protect every human settlement from the fury of the Aragami monsters.

During all of these years, in two occasion mankind faced a severe risk of extinction, both crisis had been averted by the Blood and Far East branches of Fenrir. But, while the worst had been avoided, these past events had set in motion a mechanism that brought a change upon both Aragami and God Eaters. As if they were learning from each other, the Monsters began to take appearance closer to the Humans, and the Humans started to develop powers closer to the Monsters. Such a thing prevented both of them to deliver the fatal blow and push the scales in their favor, saving humans from the ultimate defeat but also preventing them from recovering their lost territories, something that ended up forcing childbirth control and food rationing even on the civilian population to prevent the need from expansion.

Carpatians, end of Twenty-First Century... (Early 2090s.)

This is the story of Fenrir's Eclipse sub-branch, a very small settlement composed mostly of God Eaters and Researchers, hidden within the forest area of the Carpathians range. A settlement spitefully addressed as ”Spoiled Brats Summer Camp” by almost every other branch of Fenrir, a nickname earned due to the favor treatment Eclipse is known to receive from the Headquarters. Experimental weaponry is delivered to Eclipse before any other branch, talented recruits invited to join their ranks from all around the world, even on the NORN network info about this branch are usually covered in secret. Even now, with rumors about some operation going awfully wrong running around since a year long, Fenrir's top brass is still know to be pretty forgiving about their behaviour and to support Eclipse's keeping a distance from the other branches.

The truth behind these rumors, is that most of them are actually pinpoint accurate. Eclipse, or better their R&D division, is looked favorably by Fenrir due to the multiple scientifical outbreaks they had achieved over sheding light upon the grey areas within God Arcs and God Eaters interactions. Talented recruits are sent there due to a special program ran to awaken their Power of Blood and, finally, Fenrir decided to look away when the Branch leaders managed to screw up like no one else had done so far. An unnecessary wedding ceremony, know amongst Eclipse members as ”The accursed day”, that ended up with the loss of many veterans and in-training God Eaters. Most importantly Florin Vukolovich and Sophie Belmont, the ones that were getting married and captains of Eclipse's two fighting teams, died that day while many others got accounted as Missing in Action during the avalanche happening when Eclipse leaders were forced to detonate some strategically placed explosive charges to prevent the Aragami to break through.

Once proud of their Hati and Skoll teams, the first specialized into hunting operations while the second dedicated to open field defensive battles, Eclipse had been forced to merge all the survivors into the Skoll Team due to their Vice-Captain being the only survivor of the chain of command since that day. Under the banners of Skoll, the survivors fought hard to protect the settlement under their care, prevented from asking help to any other branch from Fenrir's directives. That was in fact the price they had to pay for the higher ups to not take actions against Eclipse Leaders, to keep whatever happened a secret and to deal with their issues using only their own forces. And they so did, fighting to their best abilities and mourning their losses during the year following that disastrous event. The guilty feelings of regret for not having been to do more present in everyone as, months later, they found bodies and goods belonging to their lost comrades.

Forced to deal with the small numbers of soldiers under their commands, Eclipse started to experiment on their own people, mixing new chemicals to their usual Oracle Cells stabilizing medicals. New weapons and bullet types were developed and precedently non-compatible recruits got promoted to the rank of full God Eaters. Many of them died, expendable lives that helped everyone else to survive while the other God Eaters recovered. Some developed unexpected powers, gaining access to these Blood Arts that seemed to be forbidden to them before. Others undergone even more drastic changes, something that Eclipse kept under secret to the masses. Nonetheless, thanks to these actions Skoll team was allowed to regain a good portion of its former strenght, despite the consequences for it are still waiting to be paid for in the future.

Yet, unknown even to Eclipse, not all the God Eaters accounted as MIA died that day. Some of them survived but, due to their wounds and the aftermath of the avalanche, they were prevented from returning to Eclipse or even contacting them. During a feverish journey, between hallucinations and pain, they reached an abandoned castle-like residence. A relic from another era, forgotten even by the Aragami, a shelter to hide themselves from the fury of elements. There, as the medications in their armlets started to run off, these survivors had to face a battle that could led them to a fate worse than death. The Oracle Cells they got from their God Arcs taking over their bodies.

Some of them choose to give up, leaving the place to wander the wastes in hope to finally find death when they comrades refused to end their misery. Others lost their minds and ran off, the transformation into Aragami overcoming their body as well. But a small group of them did what few humans had done before, they fought and forced their mind to stay their own. Their bodies had to pay the price for it, as Oracle Cells turned them into Aragami-hybrid looking creatures, to sustain themselves they were forced to slaughter and eat smaller Aragami with claws and fangs born out of necessity. For almost a year they had to learn how to fight the feral urges coming from the fully awakened Oracle Cells within themselves, for almost a year they had to learn how to control their ever-shifting bodies, for almost a year they struggled.

Then when winter finally returned upon the Carpathians, the sightings of Deusphage-class Aragami substantially increased, forcing Eclipse to send out Skoll Team on longer patrols and fiercer battles. Surprisingly enough though, the team was forced to fight less battle than expected, something that felt pretty mysterious as many Aragami got only sighted a couple of times before disappearing into nothingness. Something that worried a little the researchers at Eclipse. Something that worried them about Aragami trying to gahter more strenght by slaughtering their own kin.

Until one day during a recon mission they found, painted in bloody red, the Moon that once acted as a symbol for Hati team...

And some notes about God Eaters and their God Arcs.

Characters Templates

Characters can come from any background, be some of the survivors from the wedding day or people who were drafted from the civilian population after that. Players are allowed to 1 – 2 God Eater characters, based on how many of them they can handle, and as many civilian ones they desire to create to help characters development and make Eclipse settlement more lively. God Eaters characters have to specify their Generations but, due to Eclipse messing around, everything beside 4th Generation is not set in stone. (Most likely, though, characters could gain or lose the ability to use Blood Arts while some very unsual individuals could jump from and to First Generation.)

A proper reminder of the Generations features:

First Generation: These God Eaters are unable to properly control their God Arcs into switching between Ranged and Melee form. They cannot even use special Bullets. By the times of the RP they're so rare to be considered almost extincts and generally people who show only Generation 1 compatibility are kept in reserve rather than actively enlisted. Many of Eclipse First Generation God Eaters had been killed in action in the very first months after the wedding slaughter. The surviving ones are often Second or Third Generation that got their powers dampened by the experiment that had been unknownwingly forced to be part of. Anyone intending to play a First Generation should contact me for more details.

Second Generation: Considered the most common God Eaters all around, these God Eaters are able to transform their God Arcs between a Ranged and a Melee mode, with multiple attachments available to them so that they could get multiple weapons at their disposal. Second Generations are the masters of Special Bullets, some enhanced Ammo able to perform feats denying the common laws of physics. They can also drain energy from their God Arcs to enter a special “Burst” mode after letting their weapon consume the Oracle Cells Core of a defeated enemy. Second Generations are considered the most versatile of the God Eaters.

Third Generation: Basically a Third Generation God Eater is simply a Second Generation one that had achieved the so-called Power of Blood. Their abilities allow them to use unique skills, known as the Blood Art, to enhance their combat abilities. Due to their powers, Third Generations are usually entrusted with unique weapons, often specifically crafted to support each user's Blood Arts. Due to this Third Generation God Arcs offer less versatilty than their Second Generation counterparts., thus forcing their wielders to focus on a single type of melee weapon and one single ranged one. Like Second Generations God Eaters, even the Third Generation ones can enter Burst Mode.

Fourth Generation: God Eaters that had their bodies overcome by the Oracle Cells, but managed to not turn into full Aragami. Their bodies are not human anymore and the sport monstrous features like horns, tails and claws on themselves. With time these people can learn how to better control the Oracle Cells within themselves, thus to lessen the inhuman features on their appearance, but this takes years. Fourth Generations are not compatible with any kind of God Arc, so they need to rely on self made replicas of their former weapons to fight. Creating these replicas, known as Oracle Arcs, is considered the final proof that a God Eater has managed to assume control over the Oracle Cells within their bodies. Fourth Generations display superior speed and agility compared to the average God Eater, but they pay for this with losing the ability to use any special bullet and the need to consume Aragami cores to sustain themselves. With time, they can also learn how to alter their bodies to grow Aragami like armors or other features.

The Arsenal

First Generation God Arcs: Pick any weapon, add to it the ability to turn into a devouring black mass of Oracle Cells, and here you have a first Generation God Arc. There is not really a limit to whatever they can be created from, they can be machetes, dual guns, machineguns, really anything. That said, a true First Generation Arc will be way weaker than any second generation and probably just a relic from the past. During the RP Times, First Generations God Eaters just use a second Generation Arc locked either in melee or ranged mode.

Second Generation God Arcs: More powerful compared to the First Generation ones, they can actually switch through accessories to become different kind of weapons. The most common choices for Melee are Long, Short and Buster Blades, while the ranged options are usually Assault Rifle, Shotgun or Sniper Rifle. They can also mount a shield going in range from Small, Medium or Tower one. Beside the most common options, there are few other weapons accessories but they're usually variants of swords and rifles. Second Generations God Arcs are also the only ones that can use Special Bullets.

Third Generation God Arcs: Known as the Customs, unlike their second Generation Counterpart, the Third Generation ones can only turn into a ranged or a melee weapon. They can be anything anyway, be it a Scythe-Shotgun or a pair of Uzis that could turn into Chain Axes. (For Dual Weapons though, the God Eater needs a dual armlet.) Due to compatibility issues, Third Generation God Arcs cannot use Special bullets, but they can still be upgraded with improved ammo and blades. While Elemental properties can be added through Elemental mods, special items that allows to overcharge the weapon with a certain element.

Oracle Arcs: Replica of weapons created by Fourth Generation God Eaters to fight Aragami, the Aragami Arcs are literally colonies of Oracle Cells in weapon form. It's easy enough for a Fourth Generation to replicate a couple of weapons, but that's also their limit. For this very reason, Oracle Arcs cannot use special bullets or other attachments, they elemental properties are also set in stone and related to their God Eater creator.

Upgrades: For clarity sake, Second and Third Generation God Arcs can be upgraded with improved parts. For Second Generation Arcs, it would mean literally using a new attachement crafted out of a defeated Aragami Oracle Core, something that would result in changes over power output and elemental properties. While A Third Generation Arc would require more tuning up and would usually result into more damage power. (Since Elemental is gained by the Elemental Mods.) Oracle Arcs cannot be upgraded and will evolve naturally as their creators learn to control their Oracle cells, even so they're bound to never change their original elemental affinity.

Let me know if it was too much to read...

Plot-wise, the 4th Gen will have to deal with the changes in their bodies and struggle to keep their humanity, while the people which stayed at Eclipse will deal with the consequences of the R&D division upon them. Also, Hati people will be forced to live at their hideout to not scare the civilian populace of Eclipse, despite the two teams will often fight together and with mixed squads at times.

As I said, no hurries, we can wait for you to get back on a more consistent 'net.

That said, if anyone still interested could post if they're still up for it and if they have any character type in mind, it would help me to gather up the last details so I can do some finishing tailoring touches to the plot.

On that note, I'd like to point out that your characters generation doesn't really matter to much to them belonging to either Skoll or Hati squads. (Just post up generation and squad, and we'll discuss the details together...)

God Arc Knight Armors: A project born from the less successful God Arc Soldier one. Knight Armors use cloned cells from a specific God Arc to manifacture a special suit of armor for God Eaters' use. The armor, each a unique creation made to fit the build of the God Eater destined to use it, is slightly bigger than a medieval suit of armor and features a completely sealed enviroment for the user. A full skin-tight bodysuit, covering the God Eater from the neck and above, protects the users' exposed joints from enviromental hazards and acts as a set of artificial servo-muscles to control the heavy armor suit. Beside that and some other common sub-systems, like meds injectors and biometric sensors, each Armor suit is a unique item sporting original combinations of sub-systems. These can go from boosters, to wireguns, to specialized God Arc parts made to match the suit performances. Despite the benefits in resiliance and brute strenght, a God Arc Armor Knight suit puts the God Eater at disadvantage when it comes to reactions speeds and mobility and thus is generally used for open field battles rather than recon or stealth ones. Obviously, due to the Knight Armors very nature, 4th Generations God Eaters are unable to use such items.

Aragami OverBurst Mode: This skill shows the ultimate control from a 4th Generation over the infected Oracle Cells within his body. It literally forces them to multiplicate and cover his body as a sort of armored second skin much alike to an Aragami. Extra limbs and organs can be created to enhance the God Eater's battle abilities and sometimes even the Oracle Arc gets forsaken for more natural weaponry like claws and fangs. However, due to the stress required to keep control of such drastic changes to one's body, using the OverBurst mode is something that 4th Generations are usually forbidden to do beside the most severe circumstances. And even so, they should limit it to a small amount of time.

Last bit about God Eaters Knight Soldiers and 4th Generations Overburst mode.

With this everyone should have all the info needed to start getting themselves an idea about what kind of characters they want to play. I'll put up a more detailed sign up and info thread once everyone has settled on what they're planning to play.

Again, I'm up for answers and helps anytime.
